User ImageShe had not been on her own in ages. Nor had she seen him in ages; which saddened her. She had grown attached to the sparkling hair, and Galaxy - and Triton - and Nereid. Then again; perhaps Verrier should be the last of her worries... because she had lost Milo ages ago, too. Her poor, dearest Milo - left to suffer on the cold dirt. When finally she realized he was gone, she had ventured back to collect him; but days had passed, and apparently he had become so upset with her that he had rolled his way off to Gaia know where. This worried her, and she wondered solemnly if he was alright.

The breeze kissed at her face tenderly, and she questioned whether or not she was allowed to roam about by herself. A moment of thought before she ran upon the dirt childishly, her paws enjoying the touch. She had rolled in mud moments earlier, and her tails were caked in the stuff. She was overall dirty, but overall happy. Being outside, on her own - it was a nice feeling. Her father had told her that he minded not if she went out by herself... because she was 'old enough' now, or some hocus pocus. Everything had just gotten smaller; that's what happened... there was no way she had gotten bigger.

... Or so she thought...

She paused in the midst of her play, glancing about the area thoughtfully. Where, exactly, was she?

Tale was near the entrance of the deep forest. Not that he knew, that is. He had been traveling for a few hours from his home to reach this area. Why? To retrieve something 'special' for reflectance. He was now about a half-mile away from the red girl, but then again--he didn't even know she was there at the time. Right now he was too focused on his thoughts.

What he was staring at was a big giant gem, a light lavender hue. It belonged a small young girl he met a long time ago. Her last words to him was jokingly asking for a kiss, before running off into the sunset. Problem was she forget her precious gem, Milo. He thought he would see her again soon so he took the gem into his possession and hid it in his secret spot in the forest. Another problem rose up though- since that day he has not seen a sighting of her at all. It was a small pang to his heart; especially knowing how much she adored him and her gem.

He sighed lightly, and yet again lifted up the purple gem onto his back like he did those months ago. This time it was easier to carry around, especially since he didn't bring his own orb with him. A couple weeks ago he got a small tip about where Tale lived and planned on returning the orb to her home in private. He didn't feel like seeing her right now; especially since she might question him about the orb and why he took it.

It took him about several minutes of walking with the orb on his back when he felt a small Earthquake, which was a frequent thing in this part of the Mountain. It was nothing too big, but after it was over he found his back lighter. The purple orb was now rolling away, going ahead on the path he walking without him! Crap, I can't lose that orb!

Verrier gruffed out a curse and started to go after the orb. The path was slightly downhill, making the orb continue it's journey down the trail without stopping. It continued down through the clearing until it finally halted, only a few feet away from a dirty Luck covered in patches of mud. The blue kitsu was still going down the trail towards the place the orb had landed.

A noise. A quirk of her brow, and a cant of her head. What was that? Tremendously unfamiliar and - from the sound of it - coming towards her at a particularly fast pace. Tale let out a whimper of disapproval before she foolishly hid behind a tree, her ears flattened. What, oh what, could it be? Her father had warned her of ogres in the forests. Mean ogres that went 'rawr' and that tried to eat devour her eyes. She trembled at the thought; and then, and then... nothing. Absolutely nothing. She peeked out curiously, her amethyst eyes questioning as she stared dumbfounded at a purple gem. Milo. Her purple gem. Her Milo. Oh, it was a dream come true! A princesses' wish granted! Milo had realized how miserable she was without him, and he had come to tell her that he had forgiven her, and that they could go home together now! Oh she would never leave him alone again. She would never, ever leave him alone again! She would always be beside him, consoling him, and paying her attention only to him~!

... Whereupon she then saw Verrier.

She left the orb behind in a frenzy, and ran towards the other Luck as fast as her paws could take her. "Monsieur, Monsieur, Monsieur!" She called, tripping a bit over her own legs on the way - but she quickly gathered herself up and continued towards him. She panted once she finally reached him, her tails drooping tiredly before she spoke, "Monsieur Verrier~" She greeted, nuzzling into the other's chest thoughtfully whilst she completely disregarded how muddy she was; she had missed him, and so such things were barely significant with his coming, "I haven't seen you in ages V! How has my darling been? Swell? I've missed you!" And she meant it.

Because she did miss him. She missed him so much. As much as it pained her to admit it, she had missed him more than she missed Milo. And so seeing him made her happier than she assumed it would. "You're my rainbow! I've been so lonely without you! As if all the color has been taken from my world! The feeling is so depressing, but I'm never depressed - but I was. I thought perhaps rolling in the mud and chasing butterflies would make me feel better; but the longer I spent without you, the more upset I got~"

She wrinkled her nose thoughtfully, "But I am glad to see you, V-V~"

Verrier finally caught up to that blasted purple gem. Stupid earthquake, why the hell did it have to--OOF!

That was when he felt a small pile of weight on him. And it smelled..well not too pleasant particularly. He blinked from the sudden impact and then noticed who was on top of him. It took him a few seconds to register the young girl, snuggling into him with patches of mud of her. Yet she was not exactly a young girl anymore. No, she was now a woman. She was Tale, the little girl that proclaimed her love to him when she was merely a teenager. Great- he was honestly hoping to wait another couple /years/ before meeting her again. And now he was dirty!

"T-Tale...it's pleasant to see you as well." He ignored her comment about him being like a rainbow and gasped in pain. "B-but it is a little difficult...to be overjoyed when- AH - you're crushing me!"

To think how big she grew up to be! Although he would be more proud of her growth if she wasn't using such a factor to break his ribs.

Her eyes were wide with confusion whilst he muttered something about being crushed. A tilt of her head before she announced, ever-so-thoughtfully, "Crushing you? But I'm merely showing my everlasting affection, Mister Verrier. My long-lasting, always-meant-for-you affection! It's deeper than the ocean and lasts longer than a lifetime slash eternity." She was sure he could appreciate that - couldn't he? Nevertheless - if he was uncomfortable, and he wanted her away from him, she would comply; and so she crawled a safe distance from the male skillfully. "Sparkly Verrier~! I missed your pretty hair, and your pretty ears, and your pretty tails, and your pretty eyes, and your pretty rationalness, and your pretty everything! And Galaxy! I missed Galaxy, and Triton, and Nereid! I missed you all! I missed you all so much..." She rolled onto her side to face him thankfully, "Lots and lots, you know. Too many lots; to many lots I was getting tired of the word 'lots'."

She crawled towards him again, though this time she made certain to halt herself just before she got too much into his personal space; "And guess what? I found Milo! Isn't that so incredibly exciting, Monsieur? I mean - I haven't seen him in ages. Oh, but I haven't seen you in ages either; or, I mean; I missed you... oh, but I've already said that a gazillion times." Another wrinkle of her nose before she continued, "I guess what I should be telling you right now is that my day has become so much brighter now that you are in it! Did you know that? You're like the sun! Except it doesn't hurt my eyes to look at you. You're quite appealing actually! I mean, who wouldn't think that you were-" A loss for breath, and she inhaled as much air as she was capable, then she prepared herself to continue...

... But she forgot what she was saying.

A curious look as she inspected Verrier to try and locate the words again. But they were gone; and so she remained quiet; if only for a moment, "... Did I mention that I missed you lots and lots?"

Verrier sighed as she moved off his body. Thats when he got a better look at the girl. She had a few patches of mud on her, logically from her mud-rolling, but otherwise she retained the same markings she had before. Obviously she was far more larger in size than the last time they met- probably as big as himself now. Yet by the way that she was talking it didn't seem her maturity grew quite as large in size. If it can't be helped though.

"Milo?" He questioned to himself. Slightly tilting his head he peered over Tale's shoulder to find the purple gem sitting quietly about a few feet from the mud. So he did make it to her eventually. Although he was hoping to return it in private it just couldn't really be helped. Though she didn't seem to question why Milo and himself appeared at the same moment so he didn't press it. Why ruin her happy mood?

He nodded with a small smile as she finished her consistent word bumbling. "Yes, you certainly did mention how much you missed me, Tale." The young girl that he hasn't seen for so long was still the same young girl. And from the way she described him another thing was quite clear to him. Her proclamation of love for me has obviously not changed.

"Its nice to know you're still the same happy person. Although you shouldn't be so careless as to leave personal belongings out in the woods," he sighed, hoping his words wouldn't slip her a thought that he took Milo, "you're just lucky Milo was 'so kind' as to come back."

Her declaration of love had changed as little as she had. "Mister V, it's been too long... of course I missed you! It's been so many ages, that I don't know what to say except that I missed you. I missed you lots, and lots, and lots." Three 'lots'... now she was getting serious. "But, Sir-Sir... I thought that I may never see you again! And I was so sad. Because - because... you're my rainbow! And creatures come from all over the place to admire a rainbow. You're a rainbow, Monsieur Verrier! A pretty, sparkly rainbow." Her rainbow and her sunlight, and she offered him a childish smile, her tails flicking lazily behind her. She moved herself a tad bit closer to the male, innocent eyes watching him thankfully before she continued, "And I love rainbows! And the sun!" The smile remained, still. But then she offered him a questioning look, "Did you miss me too~?"

Then she recalled that he had mentioned something about her being careless. She had been careless? Admittedly, it did not surprise her; she was often careless... this just happened to be the first time anyone had told her so. Her ears fell disappointedly when he informed her that she had been lucky that Milo had been so generous as to return to her. But she supposed he was right. Her paws circled about the dirt thoughtfully before she spoke, a tad bit quietly, "Oh - alright. I'll be a little more careful then, Mister Verrier...?" She watched him solemnly whilst she tried to think of something fun to say.

She could think of nothing.

A loss for words was a rare occurrence for her; yet it had been happening a tad bit more than she would have liked with Verrier. Verrier, who she had been trying so desperately to impress - because he was pretty and smart and she wanted him to like her. But she was muddy and dumb and just not worth his time. She bit her lip discontentedly at the thought. Tired and defeated, she placed her chin upon the dirt, her sparkling eyes watching him still. She had nothing to say, she didn't know what to say...

... Because boring old mud could never impress a rainbow...

Verrier smiled at Tale's enthusiasm. It seemed as though she hasn't changed since he met her as a little girl. Little girl- that made him sound like an old man. The way she was talking about him too sounded like that little girl crush that he was so sure would escape her mind one day had not left. Calling him a rainbow of all things too. There was obviously some amount of worshiping on Tale's end for him and that didn't make him feel too glad.

Especially considering that he didn't know what he felt for Tale. And he was afraid of telling her that after all this time because that little girl that he met all those days ago was still inside of a now grown woman. It would break her heart.

"Yes," he paused slowly, trying to choose his next words carefully, "I missed you, Tale."

After that though a sudden silence polluted the air. Tale was quiet and it was oddly disturbing. He was so use to hearing her talk on and on about so many things and now she did not grace him with even a vowel. "Tale, are you okay? Theres a very...depressing aura about you today. It seems strange." The way he said that made it seem like he had seen her every week or so.

"Yes, I am muddy..." She replied immediately, the pace of the words was fast - and she had not even realized that he knew nothing of the thoughts that were circulating through her mind. Tale cocked her head to the side at the other Luck, her mouth and movements still. She bit at her tongue thoughtfully, amethyst orbs inspecting him whilst she wondered silently whether or not he really had missed her. She pulled her lips back thoughtfully, her smile fake though definitely convincing. And then she realized that this was Verrier, and a fake grin was sort of like a lie, therefore she was lying to Verrier, and she didn't want to lie to Verrier - no, she did not want to lie in general... and upon this discovery, she frowned. "I am muddy and you are rainbowy..." Her head drooped awkwardly, and Tale reasoned that she was being melodramatic - and that she should just make herself happy again.

But she was always melodramatic...

Despite her discoveries and her unhappiness at their differences, her face brightened gleefully. She had missed him, and the fact that she was even around him should be enough for her. Her tails wagged simultaneously as she watched him, but they stopped all too soon. "Icky, old brown mud can't impress pretty rainbows, Mister Verrier..." She knew he would understand then.

Or would he?

And her head was upon her paws again as she considered whether or not she was being unreasonable. Further contemplation and she realized that she was, "Bleh-Blah - never miiiind..." She whined childishly.

Verrier raised his eyebrow at Tale's words. Well it was good to know she was aware that she was slightly tattered in mud but it didn't answer his question at all. She seemed more than content before about being covered in dirt but now the woman seemed quite upset. Did he say something that made her that way? If he did then he should say sorry; he didn't mean to hurt her feelings. Tale was too good to have her feelings hurt so much. Thousands were too good to have their feelings hurt and Tale was one of those thousands.

"You're not mud, Tale," he said in his best stern voice. "Don't think that way about yourself because it isn't true."

Now he really thought that somewhere along the line there was a fatal mistake he made. For Tale to actually believe she was mud and nothing more was absurd. And then calling him of all people a rainbow. He was afraid she would look up to him far too much and now she was. The cause of her inferiority complex was himself. That didn't exactly make him feel too good.

"Rainbows come from rain you know. If rain on the ground makes mud but at the same time rainbows then they aren't really that different, Tale." He smiled thoughtfully. "Mud and Rainbows are all in the same, so don't think 'mud can't impress pretty rainbows' okay?"

Eyes were wide and sparkling whilst he spoke, her tails intertwined and lying lazily in the mud she had been rolling in merely moments earlier. "But - but... Mister Verrier..." She frowned, her mind wandering. That wasn't right, was it? She was nothing like Verrier. She was caked in dirt, she smelt like tree sap, she was pretty certain there was a worm slithering somewhere on her paw, and she knew so little - unlike the Luck male, who had a soft and pretty coat - he smelt like vanilla, was worm-free, and - most importantly - he knew so much - about everything. Verrier was amazing. She crawled towards him tiredly, "But-But-But..." Her ears flattened with uncertainty, hesitation. "Monsieur Verrier smells like vanilla..." She began lamely, "And his coat is so pretty and soft - and he is worm free, and... and...." She paused momentarily, her eyes averting as she tried to word this delicately, "You are incredible and brilliant." She laid her head on the male's paws hesitantly, "Sure - you stutter sometimes and get really funny and weirdo - but you're polite and you think about people's feelings."

She nuzzled his chin childishly before pulling away, her eyes examining him with pure delight. "I wanna be like that, too." Tale pulled her lips back to offer him her pearly white grin. Curled tails wagged simultaneously as she wondered, thoughtfully, how she could ever achieve such a thing. It would be too difficult to change... wouldn't it...?

Was she likable as she was now, though?

Her eyes crossed upon the realization that there was mud on her nose. She wondered how she would get it off only moments before discovering that it wasn't mud, rather the coloring of the fur upon her muzzle altogether. Tale then focused her attention on Verrier entirely, her smile returning upon looking at his face as opposed to attempting to see her own.

"I love you, Mister Verrier Sir." She offered him a smile, "Lots and lots and lots - you know."
