Snow blew everywhere as a black deer slowly made his way around his herd's lands. His breath came in frosted clouds and frost clung to his multi-colored antlers. His coat was of a strange pattern, swirls of silver and gold. Bells engraved into his fur rippled with the feirce wind. If it hadn't been for his shaggy coat, the deer would have been in trouble of freezing.

A deep chuckle escaped his throat as he shook his head in wonder. "How can winter be this mean?" he mused. He flicked snow off of his ear. Suddenly he stopped moving, his ears twitching foward. There was another deer on the snow-choaked wind. Slowly and tenderly, Klaus approached the stranger carefully, not trying to look the least bit threatening. A friend maybe?

Blesa a rich earth brown and milky cream colored female was almost certain that she was now making her way through another herds land. She wasn't afraid though she could take care of herself, Blesa had been alone for a long time now. However she would like to avoid any conflict with anyone right now. The usually plump and strong female was looking pretty slim, which is a big problem for her if the winter was going to be harsh.

Blesa had stopped to nose around for something to graze on and also to find some shelter from the mounting snow storm. As she looked up for a moment Blesa thought she saw another deer moving towards her. She shook her head and laughed for a second. No who else would be out in this, but as she kept her eyes on the figure it turned out to be another deer.

Klaus saw the brown of the female, but not the white right away. He laughed softly to himself. Fastening his pace, he soon reached her. "Hello there!" he chirped happily. He was glad to have some company in the cold snow, though it may not have been the best time. A storm was brewing.

His ears went back for a moment as he tasted the air just to make sure of something. Yep, she was of his herd. "Well now, what are we doing out here when a storm amy be coming. I'm Klaus," he said in introduction with a bow of his sloping antlers. He was a handsome bull, ink black and healthy. What he could tell of the female is that she was lacking a bit in girth. He would just have to help her put on a few pounds then.

She watched as the bull closed the distance between them. Blesa looked him over quickly and was impressed with what she saw, he looked to be a strong healthy bull. The cow was on the brink of a foul mood, but somehow the sound of his happy hello even in the midst of the on coming storm brightened her grim day.

Blesa watched as he bowed those great antlers to her and introduced himself as Klaus.
"Well it is very nice to meet you Klaus" she in turn gave a small nod to him
"My name is Blesa, and I guess I'm trying to find something to eat" she gave a small laugh of her own, which surprised her she didn't remember the last time she had laughed.

Klaus' colorless silver eyes brightened and a smile spread across his muzzle. "You have a nice laugh. It's like chiming bells, like some of the reindeer in the other herd wear on their necks," he commented cocking his head to the side.

She wanted food. He snorted a trail of thick white cloud from his grey nose and flicked snow away from his ears with a twitch. "I'll escort you ok? It's not safe to be here alone in this weather," he offered concerned. He also had nothing better to do and she seemed interesting.

Blesa smiled and gave another laugh. For some reason, she didn't know if it was because she hadn't been around anyone in a while or Klaus[ but she felt really happy. She shook the snow from herself and looked the bull in the eyes. He looked like he could be trusted.
"Well then...lead the way my friend" she smiled at him.

Shaking his antlers proudly, Klaus turned and began to stride back the way he came from. He looked back time and time again to make sure that Blesa was following closely, in the snow one could easily be lost. The bells in his ink black fur shimmered gold in the frosty wind.

Sniffing at the air, Klaus tried his best to pinpoint some kind of edible food. The wind brought nothing to Klaus' nose. His white hooves pranced through the deep snow to a happy beat that lay only in his head. His ears pricked and his nose twitched. Something smelled....delicious. "I found something!" he almost sang. Birch bark and something else. What was that something? Klaus fell back to trot next to Blesa. "It's straight ahead," Klaus stated with a huge smile on his face. He felt proud.

She was tired and it took a little more energy to trudge though the piling snow. Blesa didn't think she could easily loose Klaus his fur shimmered so brightly in the growing whiteness. She moved up so she was closer to him. This looked like it was going to be a not so innocent winter storm.

Blesa began to prance right along after Klaus it was easier to get through the snow but was wearing her out quickly. She noticed that he seemed to be picking something up.....Blesa to began sniffing the air too.
"Mmmmm something smells good" As Klaus fell back to trot next to her a huge smile broke out across her face.
"I can't wait, I'm starving" she admitted to him.

"The scent is getting stronger. Can't you smell it?" the male replied cheerfully. His trot slowly transformed into a prance. His black tail wagged in joy. A white tree parted the snow suddenly. "Here!" Klaus laughed.

The peeling bark was softer than most trees and good for a deer. A few frozen green leaves dangled from the ice covered branches. "I bet there are some lichens under the snow too. This tree is in really good shape!" Klaus noticed. He stepped back to guard Blesa as she ate.

Blesa broke out in a wide smile as the wonderful smell of food became stronger, or maybe it was Klaus' cheerful mood. Her eyes widened as the tree came into view, it had been a while since she had something this grand to eat. Blesa began to munch on the bark first, each bite filling her empty stomach and making her so very happy. Then using her front hooves and nose she did happen to dig out some lichen just like Klaus said. Blesa quickly ate her fill of it,then finished her meal with a few of those beautiful green frozen leaves the ice melted in her mouth leaving the the wonderful green behind.

Blesa turned to Klaus and smiled brightly,
"There is plenty left Klaus" she practically had to shout over the mounting wind. All of a sudden a gust of wind and snow blew right in her face making her jump a little and she backed right into Klaus. She looked around and sniffed the air, this storm was turning bad quickly.

Klaus dug his hooves into the frost as if bracing himself for impact. When Blesa backed up into him, Klaus didn't move. Snow stuck to his antlers and his silver muzzle. His almost colorless eyes blink in surprise. "i'm...not hungry," he stated shaking out his fur. His smile faded into a more worried expression. "I think we should find shelter," he breathed, "if you have had your fill."

Slightly scared at the ferocity the storm was picking up Blesa stood against Klaus for a moment then shook her head slightly snapping out of her fright, she gave the bull a little room but still stood close to him. Klaus seemed to comfort her somehow and she barely knew him. Blesa let the thought move to the back of her mind as she looked up to Klaus and nodded
"I'm done" she shook the snow from her fur.
"Please lets go" she said in an agreement to him.

"Okay," Klaus agreed with a nod of his antlers, "Can you run?" That was a stupid question. Of course she could run, but the weather proved to be hazardous.

He turned away from her and started to move at a slow trot. It was fast enough to cover ground, but slow enough that Blesa could catch and keep up. He stood out in the white blizzard with his handsome black coat, a beacon in the frost. She wouldn't loose him easily and that gave him peace of mind if not anything else.

"Yes I can run" she nodded and gave a small smile.
Blesa trotted along after Klaus keeping close to him, she wasn't going to wonder off not when the storm was steadily picking up steam. As they mad way it became harder to see.
"Klaus" Blesa only said his name but it was more of a worried are we close?

"I know of a spot! Don't worry, just don't get lost!" Klaus called back. He flicked his tail in anticipation and pushed for more speed. He chewed thoughtfully on his tongue. The pounding of his hooves echoed and swiled with the rythem of those behind him. His vision blurred with the ever growing frost. They just had to get there before the storm reached its climax. Then he saw it. His special cave! He wheeled to the side and dashed in, his royal black coat spotted with white.
