You know, it just came to me. I'm not Christian. My family has no religion. Yet, we celebrate Christmas. Why is that?
I mean, Christmas is a Christian / Catholic / Whatever holiday. Yet, when we refuse to get into the spirit, the state (and Christian and Catholics) b***h about it.
What's up with that?

Meep?
Well, maybe you just want to get into the Christmas spirit, even though you're not Christian? After all, you don't have to be Christian to be celebrating Christmas. Heck, a lot of things come from other religions, as well. XD
And... just who are you? O_o; XD

Actually, I am Catholic. Against my own will.
Word of advice. Don't go to a private Catholic school.

*clears her throat*
Christmas all started a long long time ago. The Vatican decided to have a holiday celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. When? It didn't really matter too much the date, because no one really knew the exact date that Jesus was born. So, the churcy lords of the Vatican decided to place it at the same time as the winter Solstice, that way, they could take over the pagan holiday and stop people from having lots and lots of sex on one day of the year.
Several years passed before Saint Nick appeared (Yes he was real at one time). This man went around dropping money through peoples windows and chimneys so that they could afford to put their children in schools. He was eventually found out and given the title of "Saint." This man set the basis for the secular version of Christmas, in which a man in a red suit gives presents to all the little girls and boys.
Well, at first the idea of Santa Claus was christian. A time where people of the Christian faith would get together, eat some food and exchange gifts to show love. Eventually however, the idea of Santa grew and he even became popular all over the world. He became so popular that people who weren't Christians began to take a liking to him. And hey, free presents right? So, the secular idea of Christmas hit it off with people of all faiths.
And thusly the reason you enjoy Christmas without having to be Christian! =D

I'm Agnostic. Christmas isn't a religious holiday...... Well it is.. Kind of. There's Secular Christmas and Religious Christmas. I love Secular Christmas. I love the busy and the cheer and the mood.
Not so much the lights and music, but that's okay.

Woah. That's not what my belief says.
My belief says that Santa Claus is not actually a person, but a title bestowed on a mystical line of vampire slayers. A Santa Claus makes it his or her duty to kill off the undead and all types of monsters, ranging from mummies, banshees, ghouls and werewolves. When a Santa Claus dies, the next on line takes up the title, and the line continues.
There's no true trait you need to become a Santa Claus; as long as you're the most skilled fighter in the employment of the Agency, you become a Santa Claus. As a Santa Claus, you get access to all the resources of the Agency, among them a crystal orb that allows you to see virtually anything in the world. Hence, the belief that Santa Claus sees everything and punishes those who do wrong.
I think they made a spoof of the legend. Called it Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Catholic is a type of Christianity..the holiday has nothing to do with Catholic beliefs at all, it's Christian beliefs.. :/ Catholics and Christians are basically the same. Catholics are Christians but not all Christians are Catholic... if that makes sense. Catholics are just Christians with hardcore rules and traditions. And yes, they celebrate the same kind of Christmas that Protestants do. (Just adding to what Pixie said to clarify)

I just made this topic for fun. And to attract attention.
Damn it, can anyone just find out who I am so I can start posting like myself again?
