for everybody who doesnt know what waveriding is its where u repeadility move the control stick back and forth really fast using a comboination of shield and jumping. Doeant sound like a big deal right, WRONG! If u dont really understand what im talking about then u have to see it for urself. But here is my story. I went to a melle compentition one day hoping i could see if i would win. For the money, NO, but just the fact and the pride of playing this game against others how enjoy it as much as i do. But what i saw there was this cheap a** "waveriding". I paly Melee alot and love it, im dedicated to the game and nintendo, but when these a*****e comes up with this waveriding bullshit it pisses me off. I mean how can u consider it really playing and fighting in the game. Its basically using a glitch to win like a freakin coward. When i play melee (i play with yoshi btw) i dont act like a little coward or p***y, i dont hit and run or shield all the time, i dont just go for the weapons, but i fight, i brawl, I do what the game says and ENTER THE FRAY. Im not a little p***y and do sheap crap like waveriding and repetitive moves. And u may think that i just suck, well i dont. Im just dissapointed that melee and nintendo gamers both would stoop to such a low lvl of cheap as strageties and tatics. THERE ARE NONE TO MELEE. Thats what set it apart from other technicial fighters. i think some guy posted a post with a video of how it looks like. So if u agree with me then ur like me, a traditional melee fighter, and if u dont then ur probablary are acheap a** fighter, and i hope that is not the case fot the nintendo defenders guild. Im sure some of u are like how dare he says this, waveriding takes time and effort to learn and whoever can do it has great skill. And if u are the one that says that then its sad, truly sad. SO that my stand. scream

Waveriding is some technique that people use in SSBM Competitions across the US. Some kinda combination with Sheilding and Jumping at the same time. There was an article in Nintendo Power about it.
I've tried to pull it off but it ain't easy.

Well, a little shielding and moving works, although I usually go into the fight.

I've definately heard of the accursed Wavedashing/riding/glitching and the like. And I DONT do it. It's cheap! Besides, I like fighting fair.
Main reason why I don't do it is cause my cube is broken... gonk

It's hard to pull off, and mildly useful in certain situations. Just because someone does it doesn't automatically mean they'll kick someone's a** who doesn't. I prefer shadowfighting myself. Not really a technique, more of a fighting style.

Lol! If you cannot beat a waverider, then you might not be so good. And the only way to beat them besides having extremely good luck or really really fast reflexes is to waveirde yourself. Its not cheating its strategy, they put it there for a reason 3nodding

Wavedashing's nothing. Caping is weak. I play as Ganondorf and there is absolutely nothing I can do against caping. Caping is that thing Mario/ Dr. Mario does by hitting you with his cape when you're trying to return from the side of the platform. It sucks, dude. I was dying with 40% and the such.
