I am 14 and i live in Nevada. In this state the law is that you can work at 14. BUT, nobody in the work force will hire a 14 year old. Plus, to get said job, you are required to get a hepatites 'A' shot, AND, A TB test!!! And that still dose not garentee that you get the job.WHY?? Because all the 'bad' 14 year olds in gangs and crap, give all the 'good' 14 year olds [that just want a dam job] a bad name!! gonk scream
Do you think this is fair?
whats it like in your state?

Be patient, people dn't really tend to come here alot.
Anyway, actually yes, it is very fair.
They are giving priority to adults that odds are need the job more then you.

Yes, that is fair. Hell, in my state, you have to be sixteen years of age in order to legally hold a job, unless you're working with family. Along with that, you have to be updated on your shots and physicals.

Unfortunately, in the work place, people aren't that fair. Despite what you say and/or write about yourself, they are going to judge you by appearance and who you are friends with. Just use good judgment, and they might start to think a bit higher of you. But, as always, seniority is going to be a factor.

MrGhosty I'm 16 & no one will give me job :[. Its hard to get your first job. You basically have to get a shitty job first then you might be able to get better ones. When I was looking for my first job I tried to work for starbucks but they never called me. Then I was lucky and landed a job at Coldstone Creamery in the big mall where I live and worked for the company (different stores) for 2 years and at the most I was senior shift leader (we didnt have store managers or assistants because the owner did everything) so I was basically a manager. At the end of those 2 years I applied to starbucks again and got called the next day. I love working there.

But this is the thing, we're not judging you as a person, we're judging you as an employer would judge an applicant. It doesn't matter to them what you've been through etc. only what your work history and age are. Do you really think they take the time to read CV's and application details in depth?
