Tay's everyday life had long since fallen into a pattern, whether she realized it or not. She would wake up, some days near the teepee and some away from there. Her humans had long since gotten used to her erratic sleeping patterns, and it no longer bothered him when she didn't turn up at night.

When she awoke she would take the time to graze for breakfast, and play about in the water a little before taking a gallop to wherever she pleased, wherever her hooves took her, and she would settle in for another graze before returning either to the tent, or at least nearby. She had found that she couldn't ever fall asleep if she was too far away from the teepee and everything she had grown up with. Change was not something she was particularly fond of.

Now, it was that time of day when she generally couldn't decide whether she should go down to the water, or keep on grazing for a few moments longer. She stood with her head half raised from the grass, eyeing the water, then the grass. Oh such decisions...

Arsenic's smaller-than-normal form slowly forced it's way through the cool water. The tips of his black mane and most of his long tail were soaked and dripped. His icey eyes were set on the fleeing school of fish and the various turtles and frogs that would dilly-dally by.

His life had been so boring lately. After the wonderful feeling of finding his sister again wore off, he was sort of left with less than what he had before. When she was missing he had a purpose, and that was to find her, but now he had nothing. He would wander aimlessly, sometimes meeting new horses, and never really found a purpose to anything.

So now he was left to just wonder. What was he suppose to do? Weren't these things suppose to work themselve out? He wasn't suppose to find what to do with his life... the fates handled it....Right?

Movement in the water caught her eye. Tay lifted her head to get a better looked at whatever it was. Red? Ultimately, her curiosity won out and she decided then to abandon the grass and made her way slowly down to the waterside. The movement, it turned out, had come from a deep red stallion, smaller than most. It appeared he was chasing a school of fish about in the water, along with whatever turtled or frogs that happened to be nearby. Tay stifled a giggled. She had never thought to chase the fish before.

"That's not exactly why they're there, you know," She said with a grin, watching as the fish darted this way and that. They were being thrown into a panic by the red stallion's moving about, and they were proving to be extremely fun to watch.

Arsenic was slightly startled by the sudden voice. He wasn't used to running into others while he was out on his walks, and when he did they didn't usually acknowledge him. Why who were there? It took him a second to register what she was talking about.

"Oh!" He exclaimed with a small smile. "I'm not trying to make them panic. I was just sort of walking." He chuckled a bit and bent his head down to look at the fish better. "Sorry, guys."

The whole time he spoke his voice was friendly and a bit softer than the normal tone of others. He had always been like that, he found it drew less attention to him and that was a good thing. When he turned to look at the mare his eyes portrayed the same friendly spark that his voice did. "I'm Arsenic." Best to not be rude.

Tay raised an eyebrow with a smile. Apologizing to the fish? That was a first for her. He was a decent stallion, this one, quite unlike some. She wasn't used to hearing stallions talk as softly as he did. But then again, she was used to her Duran. She had grown up rough and tumbling about with her brother, so she couldn't exactly expect him to be anything but like a guy. That was the way she had grown up.

"Arsenic, huh? That's a cool name," She said with a nod. "I'm Tay." For a moment, she comtemplated whether or not to give her full name. It was only one syllable longer, but it seemed such a mouthful. And it was such a strange name, too. She would never grow used to be called anything but Tay. "Tayook for long." She added finally. "But I much prefer Tay."

She realized then that he had just said he'd ben walking. She did that, albeit not actually in the water. She hadn't actually met many Soquili who went walking just for the hell of it.

Arsenic returned her smile with a little grin. Tay reminded him of his sister a little. "Tay it is, then, though I think Tayook is a lovely name." He gave a bit of a matter-of-fact nod. "You can call me any variation of Arsenic. Some call me Arsen, others call me 'Senic, many just stick with Arsenic. My sister used to call me Arny." He gave an embarassed snortish laugh.

It was then that he realized he still stood in the water. That would just not do, at all. He took a few strides and soon he was out of the water, dripping wet. He'd have shaken off, but he didn't want to get her wet.

Tay pulled a face. "It's a little too long for my taste," She said with a small roll of her eyes. Although come to think of it, her name was rather short, considering her brother's name. She would have died if she'd had a name anywhere as long as 'Duranjaya'.

She gave a small laugh. "Arny?" She echoed. It seemed obvious enough that it was a family nickname, though, so she decided to go with something less embarrassing. "Arsen it is, then," She decided with another trademark grin.

She watched as he stepped out of the water, still dripping wet with a line where the water had come up. "You can shake that all off, you know," She said after it became obvious that he wasn't going to. "I don't mind getting wet. I actually like water."

"I'm used to long names." Arsenic chuckled. He personally thought long names were rather pretty, though short names could be more fun. "You can shorten my name further if you'd like. I'd respond to 'Sen just as well." He shrugged, it really didn't bother him much.

He made a slight face at her snort of a laugh. "I don't know how she came up with it, but it stuck I suppose."

With her consent he shook his body much like a cat or dog would, lightly splashing her and the nearby grasses and rocks. When finished he smiled sheepishly. "Sorry."

Tay laughed as the little water droplets flew through the air and a fine spray hit her face. It was rather hot enough for it, and while it was nowhere near as refreshing as a plunge into the water, it still did a fair deal in cooling her down. "Oh, don't be," She said with a grin. "I enjoyed that."

"So, water, huh?" She said, glancing over at the river. Now that Arsen's presence had left, the little fish were slowly drifting back into the middle of the river's flow, darting here and there with their fellow fish friends. Seeing fish always made her smile a strange, wistful little smile. They always made her realize just how beautiful the world was, how innocent it could be, and harmless. In a world where there were humans, and violence, a little something simple like that could go a long way.

Arsenic chuckled at her seemingly meaningless question. "Yeah, water." He smirked a bit, something that he didn't do often. It faded slowly and he just looked content staring at the way the surface sparkled, and the way the fish glided effortlessly through the water. "It's gorgeous isn't it?" His voice was soft and thoughtful, and his eyes didn't leave the water.

"Yea, it is." She nodded with a small smile as she gazed into the clear water, and watched the fish dart around again. It reminded her of the time she had gotten lost in the dark and bedded down in the cover of the forest, only to wake up the next morning to find that she had come upon a beautiful lake. At dawn, when the wind didn't blow and the sun was just coming up. Then, the water had almost looked like it had caught on fire, and it was a sight more beautiful than anything she had ever seen.
