I just bought two monocles (one for me and one for my friend) and I love them to little bits! However, they are quite hard to wear. Hopefully I'll get used to it in time. Does anyone else have a monocle? What is your "technique" for wearing it?

Ooooo, a monocle? Sweet!
From what I read, monocles used to be custom fit (so they could fit to the face comfortably, sans squinting) and reeally really expensive.
One of my favorite old movie directors was famous for always wearing a monocle. whee I am exceedingly jealous.

Double-stick tape is your friend. whee Look for the find specifically for skin (try looking at costume shops)

I hacked one together from my old glasses and some chain (in the style of those not always held in the held, but rather held up to it by the hand where necessary. Only they're kinda naff as you would expect.
I really need to find some real ones...hopefully in something near(ish) to my perscription of course.

A properly fitted monocle should snugly fit before the eye without too much strain. If you're just buying one randomly, it may not quite fit you.
