[This arpee is between Aspyn and Tam. n_n]
She sat on the big rock, the tall one outside the bay window about 20 yards. The atmosphere was serene as the lake water sloshed against it, rippling outward and eventually dissapearing again into it''s calm center. Aspyn, on this very hot summer day, was wearing cargo shorts and a bubblebum pink bikini top to try and ward away heatstroke. She looked across the water and her eyes rested on the barely-visible helm of the old building, her expression unreadable. For a long while she had been sitting there, listening to the water, to the wind. It was a beautiful day.

Tam had just dropped off her little sister at the front of the building, glad to be free of her mother's errand. Usually Emelyn would have dropped Milla off at school on her way to work, but it was a field trip day, and so the Pove and the van were leaving later than a regular school day would start. Em still had to run the shop, so she'd had Tam drive them to work in the morning so she'd have the car for the rest of the day. Now that Milla was gone, she was free until she had to pick up her mother from the shop- and it felt good.
She walked around the side of the building, planning to get her toolkit from where she'd left it on Pove's boat, and then to head out on the plan she'd not bothered to tell her mother. God, was it hot, she mused, picking at the black tank top that stuck to her with the sweat. She'd rolled up her jeans middway, but still had on her workboots.
She made a bee-line for the immense fishing boat...but stopped once she saw a familiar, pink-haired figure on a rock.
"Aspyn! Is that bubble-gum thing you?" She joked, jogging the last few steps up to the rock.

[Sorry about that- got my haircut! XD]
The familiar voice brought Aspyn back to the world, and she was grinning before she even turned around. "No, it's that other bubblebum-pink Skull Monkey," she joked. She ran her hand across her forehead freeing her brow from sweat, and started re-adjusting her ponytail, rainbow locks swishing. She made a face.
"Hot enough for ya'?"

"Good god, yes." Tam edged onto the rock and wiped a stripe of sweat off her nose with her knuckles. "You could bake a damned cake on this rock, too," she added, wiggling. "What are you doing out here?"

Aspyn laughed. "Or my bum." She turned to show off her pant pockets, nicely browned in the heat. "My a** is frying." When she recieved the last question, her gaze turned again to the old headquarters. "Ahh..I don't really know myself. Just looking at the old building. Being all depressed-like," she added with a bit of a smile. She shifted her weight on the rock.

Tam followed her gaze, and stared out over the lake. After a measure of silence, she said "I don't even look at it anymore. ...But then again, it didn't hit me very hard when it shut down- I didn't really spend much time there. Unless it was with you." She looked sideways at her friend, and gave her a little punch in the shoulder to alleviate the sweetness of the moment. "Remember when we played tic-tac-toe on the carpet with... what was it, lotion?"

Aspyn couldn't supress her mirthful laugh. "Baby lotion, yes." She reminisced for a moment. "I still say I won."

Tam laughed. "I think we both won; I remember the looks on our mothers' faces. Yours was so shocked that her sweet lil' darling was being so giddily destructive." She was still staring out over the lake, and her eyes darted over to where Pove's boat was moored, and remembered why she had come.
"...Can I tell you a secret, Aspyn?"

"Oh my gosh, I remember that. After that I had this wierd feeling of remorse and pride all at once. It was the oddest thing-- Hm?" She stopped talking soon enough to catch the word secret from Tam. "A secret? Um, yeah, sure." She smiled just a tiny bit.

Tam averted her eyes from Apsyn, a little embarassed that she was acting like some giggly, excited teenager. "Well... I've been thinking a lot about what I want to do with my life... I mean, really deep, huh?" she said, sarcasm creeping into her voice in the end, "But uh... I think I want to move out of the house, and go to work. I've been getting pretty good with my woodworking, and there are those new Aekea housing projects going on. I could go live there, and work. It would be pretty tight for a while, but.. just to be out of the house, you know, and doing what I like?" She waited, wondering if Apsyn would tell her it was a foolish dream...
