So, as the title says what got you into listening to J-rock or J-pop?
I know some of us here doesn't understand Japanese but just found themselves listening frequently to Japanese songs..
I got hooked because of anime. Anime songs sounded really great for me even when I was a child. After some time I just found myself listening to different Japanese songs that are not from any anime.

I don't really remember how I got into J-pop...it was prolly 5 years ago when I first heard Utada Hikaru's song Automatic. It was very catchy and when I read up translations on other J-pop music, they seem to hold a deeper meaning than a lot of English songs.

Yeah. It's true that they possess a rather deep meaning when translated.

My friend Ashley showed me Gackt when I went to her house, and I didn't really get into it. Then I saw his name on Gaia and looked him up on YouTube, and became obsessed. xd

Anime. I couldn't help but to get captured by the different songs in an anime. And eventually, listened to Japanese songs which are not from any anime too!

I found them from watching Anime. Lar'c~en~Ciel did the theme song for Full Metal Alchemist, 'Ready Steady Go' It was shown in the credits and since I liked that song I went and looked them up and downloaded it. After that I just kept looking for all of the bands I listen to today that are Jrock and that I love. mrgreen
