You don't get one until you connect to the Nintendo WFC server. Just go to "Wi-Fi Connection" (I think it's under "On-Air" - it's either that or "Connect"). Once you connect, you'll get a friend code. Just follow the instructions in the manual.

By collecting HP memories. Once you reach level 100, you know you have then all. I'm only 3 HPMems away.

You mean the TUS Visual Guide? Yeah, that's how I found all of them. The only reason I'm not lvl 100 yet is 'cause I can't get at the last 3. They're in the secret area, and I haven't gotten far enough in yet.
