In case anyone gets offended, I'm Asian too, better yet, I'm Chinese. Yes, ching chong and all. I just wonder what happened if I actually wasn't a shame to my famiry for once and actually became a doctor >.>

Personally I think that most parents have high expectations and want the best for their kids but I doubt many are ashamed as long as their kids grow up to be self-sufficient and are happy with their own lives. They might be dissapointed in your life choices but I doubt that they would feel shame unless they feel that you have deliberately done something that they find morally offensive such as crime or some other social taboo. In my humble opinion the real trick in life is to find a balance between what others want of you and what you want. That being said, I do hope you find that balance.
