"Confident that my family would see me, huh? For you of all people to say that to me..." Rhysian let out with a light sigh as he finished wiping the tea glass that Lelyna had used just moments ago. After she had left, Rhysian had started to tend to his normal matters in his office, overlooking several documents that were brought to him by Varys’s personal guard just days before. However as he was looking them over, he stopped and leaned back in his seat, looking over towards the used teacups, and her words reflected I his mind. As a small break, he stood up and walked over to the table to clean them. "If only it was that easy…" He would say while putting the teacup down, and returning to his seat at his desk. Just as he sat down, preparing to continue his work, suddenly his door came flying open, and Lelyna came stomping into his office, a look of both terror and anguish covered in sweat and tears across her face. "Lelyna? What’s the matter, what happened…" He started to say as he stood up from his seat and started to come around his desk. As he came around to both console and comfort her while finding out whatever it was that distressed her, he heard the last thing he would’ve wanted to hear come out of her mouth. "You killed them…"
Rhysian came to a dead stop at hearing those words. They were but a whisper at first, but her expression of anguish quickly turned into betrayal and anger and suddenly she was screaming at the top of her lungs. "YOU KILLED THEM!…" The words would echo through Rhysian’s ears as he felt a wave of sadness and despair fall over his body as her anger, despair, shock and disappointment were spoken. With every word she spoke, the wound in his heart cut deeper still, and Rhysian’s gaze slowly fell to the floor before him as his hands balled into fists by his side. Rhysian’s mind went blank for just a moment, and his eyes started to well up as they narrowed. At this point, he couldn’t even wonder how she couldn’t have known, she just did. Who was it she was referring to, who was it that she knew he had killed. There had been so many that he couldn’t have guessed if he tried. As she continued to speak, she said something that brought it all back, something he wasn’t remotely ready for. "You were like a Father to me…" She would say, before repeating the words he had said just before… Turning his head lightly, he would say nothing as he clenched his jaw, his teeth grinding as she called him a murderer and a monster. At that, Rhysian would slowly snap back to this moment, his gaze lifting from the ground as his tear-filled eyes narrowed and fell upon Lelyna. "Why am I never able to avoid this situation," Rhysian would say, his own voice choked up with a sadness and despair of his own as a genuine expression of grief and sadness formed on his face. "How many more times must I become the monster in your eyes?" He would say, as if his words were directed at himself, rather than Lelyna. "You would think I would have gotten used to it by now, after hearing you say it so many times before..."
Rhysian’s words were both soft and sorrowful, an aching pain echoed in the back of his voice that he could not hide as he spoke to her. He slowly stepped towards her as he spoke, and although the fear was slowly building in her eyes, he didn’t stop from approaching her, she who was likely frozen in fear at this moment. "For what I do, and what must be done, I can become a monster as needed, to anyone, to everyone…" He continued to say as he stepped closer to her, his movement slow and tempered like his words, until he stood just before her, only an arm’s length away. "…but you… you, looking at me with that same expression on your face, as you have done so many times before, breaks my heart every time," Rhysian would say as he brought a hand up towards her face, as if to caress her and wipe her tears. But when his hand drew close, and her inevitable fearful flinch caused her to pull away from him, he would stop and close his eyes in both anger and misery, his own tears flowing freely for the first time. "I’m not so sure it is something I can continue to bear," He would say while opening his eyes slowly, looking into hers with such sorrow. As he gazed into her anguished face, the streams of tears rolling from her eyes, his outstretched hand suddenly started to glow as the magical energy formed in his palms. "I am sorry… Lelyna…" Rhysian would say just before quickly snapping his hand onto Lelyna’s forehead, the magical energy suddenly imploding into his hand and pressing all at once into Lelyna. The force of the magic would swiftly overwhelm her senses, and her mind would go completely blank as everything around her went dark. Her body would immediately go limp, and Rhysian would quickly catch her, slowly lowering to his knees as he supported her firmly in his arms. "I-I should’ve sent you away from the beginning…" He said through light sobs in his voice, holding her for just a moment as he caressed her cheek. "At least now, this way, you’ll be free of any more p-pain I would cause you," He would say as the tears continued to flow, and pulled her into an embrace.
As he held her, the sounds of rushed echoed footsteps reached his door, and he looked up to find Gannon standing in the doorway, trying to catch his breath as if he had just run a marathon. His eyes narrowed as he stared him down, his mind now racing for answers for this particular set of circumstances. Since Lelyna had rushed to his office so quickly just moments before, Rhysian had to conclude that whatever Lelyna knew, Gannon knew as well, which meant he couldn’t wait any longer. Clenching his teeth once more, Rhysian brought his free hand up suddenly, and a billow of mist and wind suddenly formed filling the room with a powerful whirlwind of mist that obscured everything around him, and pushed everyone and everything away from them. In the midst of the tornado like whirlwind blowing about in his office, Rhysian stood up while holding Lelyna in his arms, his gaze never leaving Gannon’s until the mist filled the room. In an instant, the mist and winds died down, and all that was left was an empty office, with bits of paper and dust slowly settling to the ground. In that instant, both Rhysian and Lelyna had disappeared.
