Yolie was mostly staying in the Shroud for protection. The spirits (Elementals?) diudn't turn wrath on her for lingering, unlike other Garleans, and it was easy to hide from Eorzxeans for the 15 year old while she practiced with a lance daily. Peering at the Wood Wailers, the Lancer's guild and apprentices, and hunting only as needed, leaving leather to be sold, and only taking bare need, and she was sure to be polite to the forest.
Still, it was a lonely existence, one keeping her somewhat away when not leaving goods, so when an intruder to the Shroud dared draw near, she had no warning until hearing a twig snap, and she spun, lance prepared and eyes alarmed in hand bought, cheap leather armor, the youing Garlean still yet to have a growth spurt trying to look intimidating to the unknown sound as she hissed sharply.
"Attack me and I'll make you regret it!" Yolie warned, but she was verbally shaking. No, she quavered with every syllable, afraid to fight to live against a Spoken, and she shook, looking around leerily.
"I heard you there...!"

Strictly speaking, Zenos was not supposed to be here. These lands were not (yet) under the control of the empire, and many believed they never would be. A preposterous thought, that, because of course the Empire's reach would eventually extend to cover this land of Eorzea as well - it was only a matter of time and persistence.
Still, technically, he wasn't supposed to be here.Full adult though he was at last, he did not hold a position of any importance outside that granted to him by his birth, and that alone did not give him free license to creep about where he wished.
But this land was where Julius had brought his daughter to die, and if nothing else, Zenos wished to find out what had become of her - of what end she had met as a small, terrified child alone in a land of beasts and savages.
Though... if what he thought he had noticed was true, she had perhaps not met an end at all.

He wasn't moving away, nor attacking, so Yolie didn't move either.
There was no reason to fight -- not yet -- and the young teen shifted just slightly to peer.
He was definately not a Regular -- his armor too detailed for them -- so, he was likely a Legatus or so, and finally -- finally, ere he consider drawing near the city-state, she decided to see what he did with a garlean teen in the Eorzean wilds alone, and shifted to step on a twig, snapping it before creeping near, lance still at the ready.
"Noble armor is terrible camouflage. The natives will probably find you soon, you realize."

His worries bore answeruing first, and Yolie hugged her lance to her, before all but forgotten habits meeting with her old friend kicked in and she shifted to let him look her over. While in good health -- even having sense to pack a medical supply bag at her hip - the teen was thin -- almost unhealthily so for one her age and it was evident she was hunting and feeding herself - fortunately, the Shroud was kind ewnough not to starve her, but she tried to use as little as possible. Still she looked him in the eyes a moment, before sighing, looking to the dirt at her feet.
"I'm supposed to be dead." Yolie explained quietly. "Because I no longer have a family in Garlemald. Fa-Faa... Julius said I was unfit and as I was a minor he could rid himself still like what sometimes happens to newborns, and... So he left me on the border here to die like a newborn. I just... Didn't do what I was supposed to and since I was legally disowned like as not I just begqan to... Survive here."
But then she crept close, clearly missing his company as she reached, pullimng herself up some to hug his neck and hide ion the older boy, trying not to cry.
"You... You're the best since the roegaedyn that took me in died. And better thqan before then too Zeezee. Imissed you, you're my best friend and I missed you most." Words, yes, but fact too. Often she wished his company to protect her, to talk to, to laugh with. While the great grandson of the emperor was an Important Figure, Yolie cared little for titles, and liked to cheer him up, to be close, anty time she could upon seeing him, and the girl soon lowered herself, looking up.
"You got taller before I did." She half-scolded. "And I'mglad you could sneak in. You got your adult's armor! It's so PRETTY!"

"You're more worthy of his name than he is," Zenos said, making note of how thin she was and deciding he didn't like it at all. "But I'm glad I've found you," he added, expression softening as he looked Yolie in the eye and brought a hand to her hair. "I looked for you, you know. I looked for you, and I never gave up; never believed that you were dead. I wasn't believed, of course, but I never gave up. And now I know why."
He took a step back, not because of anything Yolie was doing but so that he could keep an eye on their surroundings and what - or who - may be approaching, then relaxed when he could detect no threats in the vicinity. "As I'm legally an adult, now, even the Emperor himself could not keep me from coming here to look for you, once I'd found out how far he took you. I had not expected to find you so soon... But I'm glad I did. Now... Shall we make plans for getting you somewhere else. Perhaps somewhere with real food?"

"I've been deeper in the Realm!" Yolie beamed. "There's lots of places to see. But the Shroud is safe from people who don't like Garleans -- and the forest doesn't get mad when I only stick to what I need to survive." Yolie was absolutely proud as possible before motioning to Zenos. She knew parting a grown up from their first true armor was impossible, but she didn't want to leave Eorzean soil quite yet, instead pulling herself up to hug Zenos firmly with a broad smile. He hadn't given up on her and that meant.. Maybe he'd like to see the nice places she could bring him to?....The Druthers!
Buscarron turned no man away -- Spoken, Beast, lawful or illegal, or even from other City-States, as long as they made no trouble -- and when she didn't want to try sneaking to Gridania to market leather to the Leatherworker's guild, Buscarron offered excellent work and paid more than well for her services, and he even gave her advice with her lance.
"I know a place we can go. The owner knows me -- as long as you don't fight there, he will welcome anybody seeking a hot meal and drink and work. He's paid me for work before and the regulars there shouldn't be as bothered seeing you because of his rules. Normally I go for a treat or if I can't catch anything, so.." She grabbed Zenos' hand, all but trying to drag him along.
"I promise, we're absolutely safe there. Buscarron is the BEST."
