This video clip started deviating half way in the middle of the clip.

There is a time to separate from the hypocrites in the church:

      • 1 Corinthians 5:9-13 (NIV)

9 I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— 10 not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. 11 But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister[a] but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people.

12 What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? 13 God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked person from among you.”[b]

        Footnotes:

        a. 1 Corinthians 5:11 The Greek word for brother or sister (adelphos) refers here to a believer, whether man or woman, as part of God’s family; also in 8:11, 13.
        b. 1 Corinthians 5:13 Deut. 13:5; 17:7; 19:19; 21:21; 22:21,24; 24:7

The problem occurs when the church stops doing the above (in verses 12-13, called to separate from the stubbornly unrepentant, in order to keep the gathering pure, only full of the faithful who reflect His Name).

Jesus states the same:

      • Matthew 18:15-17 (NIV)

15 “If your brother or sister[a] sins,[b] go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. 16 But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’[c] 17 If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector.

        Footnotes:

        a. Matthew 18:15 The Greek word for brother or sister (adelphos) refers here to a fellow disciple, whether man or woman; also in verses 21 and 35.
        b. Matthew 18:15 Some manuscripts sins against you
        c. Matthew 18:16 Deut. 19:15

Question: what happens when the above is not obeyed? The majority of the gathering becomes that which we're called to separate from, totally leavened by hypocrisy—obstinately, stubbornly staying in it.

There is a separation that is of God (separating to stay pure, uncontaminated from the world), and for the faithful to stay united in mind because their mind is submitted to the totality of what is written in Scripture, every word that comes out of the mouth of God, and will not tolerate those stubbornly teaching otherwise.

On the flipside, the devil's flavor of separation is to cause disunity by seducing into slight deviations from what is written, that sound good but are no longer true to the Word of God, or give off a false appearance of "unity" by forcing a large group into one building despite accepting deviances from Scripture. The devil wants idolatry in YHWH's Name, mixing all faiths together. But no, we're not to mix with Babylon in the church, contrary to what the devil speaking through Washer said.

      • Revelation 18:2-4 (NIV)

2 With a mighty voice he shouted:

“‘Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great!’[a]
She has become a dwelling for demons
and a haunt for every impure spirit,
a haunt for every unclean bird,
a haunt for every unclean and detestable animal.
3 For all the nations have drunk
the maddening wine of her adulteries.
The kings of the earth committed adultery with her,
and the merchants of the earth grew rich from her excessive luxuries.”

4 Then I heard another voice from heaven say:

“‘Come out of her, my people,’[b]
so that you will not share in her sins,
            so that you will not receive any of her plagues;

        Footnotes:

        a. Revelation 18:2 Isaiah 21:9
        b. Revelation 18:4 Jer. 51:45

Come out of her, not tolerate her, not become intimate with her in fellowship, nor stay with her in fellowship—unless you want to receive the plagues God sends upon her. Come out.

Oftentimes, man starts delineating church by their own sound-good definitions and traditions—like the self-imposed requirement of ten men to start a synagogue—but those self-imposed traditional activities and definitions are not God-mandated. They only serve to make the yoke heavier. And they make the church inefficient, leading away from the leaven of heaven into the leaven of the Pharisees, Sadduccees and Herod (i.e. breaking off into philosophical sects, no longer adhering to the whole Word of God), teaching watered down and outright false ideas.

There is nothing new under the sun: so, unless people are living like a hermit by their own self, no communication with others whatsoever, people do gather and form communities (thus have communion with someone—question is, is it a holy convocation, set-apart to YHWH, or a profane/common/worldly one, where paganism is welcomed?).

Jesus' stated minimum, by the way, is two to three—not ten or more as was self-imposed by the Rabbi's (despite "taking inspiration" from Scripture for the idea).

    Quote:

  • Only in a group of ten or more is there sufficient sanctity to recite certain public prayers. [...] What constitutes a congregation? The answer is a minyan, a minimum of 10 adult Jews (an adult Jew is any Jewish male who has passed his 13th birthday). The number 10 was derived from the first verse of Psalm 82, which reads: “God stands in the congregation of God.” The word edah (congregation) is also applied to the 10 spies who, in the days of Moses, rendered a negative report on the land of Canaan. Hence it was established that a “congregation of God” consists of at least 10 men.

    from: http://www.myjewishlearning.com/article/minyan-the-congregational-quorum/

In contrast, bare minimum of two to three gathered together in His Name are a congregation (an assembly) in Jesus' eyes:

      • Matthew 18:20 (NIV)

20 For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

Sure, it's a tiny one, but it is one.

In short: Scripture does NOT tolerate unrepentant hypocrites. It does call for separation. And that doesn't automatically mean the faithful believer is without communion with other believers and God Himself.
