Taur
Come and taste the blades of Taur!
One taste to a customer.
Taur felt a wave of excitment as he finally arrived at the Amaterasu Academy. It had taken him longer than he had expected, due to certain travel difficulties that had been unexpected and unavoidable. At least he had been wise enough to put his beloved twin battleaxes in his oversized backpack, which he was wearing at the moment, instead of leaving them strapped to his belt like usual. People get skittish and tend to panic easily when they see an armed Minotaur wandering around. As he was approaching what appeared to be the main building of the academy, he spotted a group of students standing in front of it. There was a boy and three girls, and Taur's attention was immediately drawn to the delightfully plump girl. "What vision of loveliness is this?" Taur said quietly to himself, "Has Aphrodite deigned to bless us with her presence?" In addition to being delightfully plump, this girl had wings, an horned helmet, and a sword! What more could a guy like Taur ask for in a girl? Well... there were probably other things that he could ask for, but at the moment he couldn't think of anything. "I must be in love!" Taur proclaimed to himself. In all honesty, he probably wasn't in love, but he was definitely infatuated. Or maybe twitterpated. In any case, Taur decided that he must definitely meet this girl and introduce himself. Then he will sweep her off of her feet by doing something romantic, such as tell her how beautiful she is, or ask her to have lunch with him, or maybe proclaim his undying love for her. You know, one of those little things that a girl loves to hear a guy say when she meets him for the very first time. Having reached that decision, Taur approached the group of students as quietly as a Minotaur can, which really isn't quiet at all.

Daniel continued reading, nodding as the valkyrie seemed to become flustered. "Yes, yes, I apologize." He didn't really stop reading his notes, until he could hear, or rather feel, something rather large approaching. He flicked the screen away, only to notice a large bull headed individual coming towards them. He stepped forward to intercept the minotaur, not aggressively, but inquisitively. He rubbed his chin, looking him over as he approached. "I suppose I shouldn't be surprised to see a Minotaur."

Taur
What does not kill me...
Is not trying hard enough.
Taur held out his hand to the guy that had approached him as he cheerfully blared out, "Hi there! My name's Achilles, but you can call me Taur!" Realizing that he had probably spoken loud enough for half of the campus to hear him, he lowered his volume a few notches as he continued, "That's short for 'Taurus', not 'Minotaur', by the way. Just so that you know. I'm a Taurus. I mean that Taurus is my astrological sign. Isn't that great?" Actually, the word 'redundant' might be more accurate. Even so, was there anything more natural than a Minotaur that could claim Taurus the Bull as his astrological sign? Taur was trying to be as friendly as possible because it was important to him. His primary goal was to graduate from this academy. It would be nice if he could graduate with honors, but if his GPA was just high enough for him to leave with a diploma, then Taur could hold his head up high and declare 'Mission accomplished!'
Just as good grades were important for Taur, staying out of trouble was also important, which meant that Taur had to avoid getting into fights. That's not to say that Taur did not enjoy a good fight now and then. He was smart enough to know that there was a time and place for fighting, and getting into brawls with his fellow students will be counterproductive. It didn't help that many thought that a Minotaur like him was trouble looking for someone to happen to. That's why Taur wanted to make as many friends as he could as quickly as possible. The more that he could show his classmates that he was the friendly type, the less that his classmates will be afraid of him, which will be a good thing because fear tended to prompt others into doing things that everyone will regret. Taur believed that he could be anyone's friend, unless someone tried to kill him, in which case he will gladly return the favor. Taur can't be blamed for defending himself. Of course he wanted to become very good friends with the hot chick with wings, but for a completely different reason.

The boy seemed to have accepted Helga's explanation, which she took to mean that she didn't need to say anything more. Her attention was drawn to the new arrival by both his loud approach and the smell that also preceded him. "What, in Odin's blessed name, is that... thing?" Helga thought as she regarded the creature with barely-hidden disgust. The boy that she had been talking to had answered her unspoken question by indicating that the thing was a Minotaur. Helga had heard of them before, but had never seen one until now. When the Minotaur had announced his names, he had proven that he was just as loud as he was obnoxious. This Achilles person was just the kind of student that Helga wanted to avoid at all cost, which made him, paradoxically enough, the exact kind of student that the acceptance board wanted her to meet.
"I know of an ancient Greek hero by the name of Achilles," Helga remarked, "It is said that he was one of the greatest Greek hero ever, if not the greatest. I've also been told that he had been almost invulnerable to all weapons." She paused for effect and added, "Almost." After another calculated pause, she continued, "It is my understanding that he fought well at a place called Troy, and that he died well too. If it had been possible, my sisters-in-arms will have been proud to escort such a worthy and noble warrior to the blessed halls of Valhalla." Helga took a moment to examining Taur from head to foot before commenting, "I might have inquired if you are related to him in some way, but that is clearly not the case because Achilles the hero was a human, and you clearly are not." Helga wasn't certain about what she wanted to call Taur. On the one hand, she didn't want to use the name Achilles because she didn't want to sully the memory of that great hero, who she could respect, but on the other hand, the name Taur came across as vulgar and tawdry. Of course the easy answer for Helga was to avoid talking to him at all. Turning back to the boy that she had been talking to already, she prompted, "How long have you been here in this academy?"
