Shiro sat on the couch where Tarvainth, her husband, sat beside her in the living room. Her arm was looped around his, and her eyes searched his face. He was having a good day today, she could tell by the set of his eyes and body, relaxed under her arm. She noticed he was having more and more good days without incidents all the time. He was happy with her, felt safe. And her news to him had made him happier then she had ever seen him, aside from their wedding day.

It had also made him very doting and overprotective, more so then he already was. He had, since he had fallen in love with her, always been quietly protective. It was as if having seen the horrors and terrible people in the world had made him determined to keep them from Shiro. Despite them both knowing she was the stronger of the two, it hadn't stopped his quiet examination of all strangers around her, his insistance that he enter each unfamiliar location on front of her, and never being further from her then her shadow, if he could help it.

She thought maybe she should find this irritating, but she only found it endearing. And knowing his past, she couldn't fault him for it. Even if it had increased with her news for him.

"What do you think Fuyuki will say when we tell him?" She asked, tilting slightly towards him as she asked. They had invited him over to their house today to give him the news, and were just waiting for his arrival.

Tarvaith's hands twitched towards Shiro as she moved. Was she in pain?! Was she falling?! He realized a second after that she was merely turning towards him to speak, and he put his hands back so quickly, he didn't think she noticed.

"I think Fu will be happy. He looked almost like he was going to cry with joy at our wedding." Tarvainth replied, remembering how beautiful Shiro had looked that day in her white gown, and how Kuro had smiled at her sister, remembered how dignified Fuyuki looked standing as his best man.

Now he examined his wife again. She was still so slight looking to him. He rarely used his dragon form anymore, prefuring this human one Shiro could easily sustain for him over the one which held so many painful memories. But regardless of how long he was in his human form, he couldn't help looking at her size in comparison to his dragon form, and she was so much smaller. Even a fair bit shorter then his human form.

She was still stunning. Her long back hair shone, even braided up as she had it today and her dark eyes looked so gently at him when she spoke. He knew she worried about him, and he loved her for it. And of course he could see how she was slightly rounder then normal, and as always when seeing this physical change in her, his heart leapt and melted. Hesitantly, so he didn't frighten her, he reached a hand out and laid it over the rounded part of her body. She smiled at him and laid her hand over his, lightly, so he didn't feel trapped. "And I am very happy." He added.

Fuyuki sat in the Mercedes Ta-chan had assigned to him. He avoided looking the driver in the eye as he pulled the car up the long, winding driveway of the Kuro Shiro Mansion. Instead, he focused on his phone, sending Miss Shiro a text announcing his arrival just as the car came to a stop at the foot of the front staircase that led to the mansion's front doors.

Gazing up at the home, Fuyuki remembered Tarvainth first moving into the mansion with Miss Shiro not so long ago. It seemed like only a short time had passed since that day, since the wedding of his first true friend, outside of his clan, since seeing Tarvainth at the masquerade ball at this very same home, and of everything else. Yet, truth be told, for a dragon like himself, a few years was nothing by far. However, it felt like a lifetime.

And it again felt like a lifetime had passed when he heard the click of the door as the driver opened it for him. Fuyuki curtly nodded to the man as he stepped out the Mercedes and buttoned his blazer. He hated having to wear a suit, but it was a condition of him being allowed to stay in America: Work for Ta-chan's company in the sales department, securing contracts for building projects and materials, or return home to Japan where he would have to marry his bride several hundred years earlier than planned. If working as a mobster was his only option, Fuyuki took it because he loved living in America with his friends and in this little town. Ta-chan even allowed him to establish a small office in the city nearby Kuro Shiro just for this purpose. It saved him from having to live in San Francisco.

Banishing the tedious thoughts, Fuyuki focused on his purpose at hand: Visiting his best friend and his new wife. He had already figured the visit was intended to announce a pregnancy because why else would they invite him over? He already invited himself over whenever he had an off-day from work, or he hung out with Tarvainth outside of home and work. Aside from that, he expected Tarvainth and Miss Shiro would be unable to keep theirs hands off themselves. A pregnancy was bound to happen eventually.

Now smiling at the thought of this little, non-existent child, Fuyuki softly laughed at himself as he rang the doorbell. Behind him, he heard the driver climb up the steps. Right, he forgot the hostess' gift Kuò-kun told him to bring. Fuyuki took the small, ribbon-wrapped box, from the driver before sending him away. He would call him when he needed him. In the meantime, Fuyuki examined the little box. It only contained chocolates, from Sweden, but he did not understand why they were considered delicacies by so many people. He preferred a KitKat over these little chocolate bites, but whatever. As long as Tarvainth and Miss Shiro were happy, he was happy. Hell, he cried at the wedding reception. It was a trial not shedding a tear at the ceremony itself, but with a little bit of good booze, the waterworks began, as Zaya-san put it the morning after the wedding as they nursed their hangovers.
So long as Tarvi-kun can smile and laugh with ease, I can rest easy, he thought as he smiled down at the little box. Yes, so long as his friend was happy, it was all that mattered to him.

Tarvainth jumped a foot in the air as the doorbell rang, then looked to the door, taking comfort in Shiro's hand on his shoulder as he calmed himself. She moved to answer the door, and he quickly trailed behind her, wanting to hold his hands up under her back to support her. She opened the door with a big smile, and welcomed Fuyuki in with a hug. "Fuyuki, great to see you." she stepped back to allow him into the house.

Shiro wanted to chuckle at her husband fussing over her. If he was like this now, what would he do when she was as big as a whale and truly unsteady on her feet? She opened the door and hugged Fuyuki and let him into the house, watching as Tarvainth gave him a hug too, smiling happily. She really loved watching her husband around the people who made him most happy, and being his closest friend, Fuyuki was one of those people.

"You brought a gift, Fu?" Tarvainth asked his friend, surprised that he would have known it was an occasions for gifts. Of course he was thrilled, if it made Shiro happy he was glad.

When the door opened, Fuyuki couldn't help breaking out into a happy smile. It was the usual scene: Shiro answering the door with Tarvainth trailing behind her like a duckling. Yet he knew that wasn't the case, but it was amusing to see. "It's good to see you both again," he said to them both as he reciprocated their hugs before stepping into the small estate. "And of course I'd bring a gift, though it's nothing fancy." He shrugged as he examined the little box again. It really was just a small box filled with little Swedish chocolates. It wasn't even worth his pocket change, but if it made Tarvi-kun and Miss Shiro happy, he'd get them a larger box set next time.

Smiling at his two friends, Fuyuki finally had the thought to ask the obvious question on his mind.
"So, what's the special occasion you two? I don't normally get a direct invite from you both," he asked as he made his way almost naturally through the mansion to the salon. He had been a guest at the estate long enough to make himself at home.

Shiro smiled and followed where Fuyuki went, sitting down on one of the comfortable couches. Tarvainth followed as she knew he would, and sat beside her with a look of excited jitters. Not wanting to overexcite her husband's system, not uses to so many chaotic emotions at once, she places a hand over her growing womb, and smiled in Fuyuki's direction. "I'm pregnant." She allowed her joy spill into her words and turned to her husband, including him in her smiles. "But, that's not all, is it Tarvainth?"

Tarvainth watched with joy how Shiro's face lit up even more then normal, speaking about their unborn child. He felt a gentle smile touch his own face as he turned to his best friend. "And Shiro and I wanted to ask you, would you be our child's Godfather?" He asked, somewhat muted, hopeing Fuyuki would accept and not feel burdened. "I owe you so much, we owe you so much, and we couldn't think of anyone who would be better."

"It was Tavi's idea." Shiro added, using her husband's nickname. "But I thought it was brilliant."

Fuyuki beamed with joy when Shiro announced the news because, though he knew it was the reason for this meeting, hearing the news firsthand was still great. They trusted him enough to share in their moment of love. He wanted to congratulate them immediately, yet the couple had another announcement for him. That came as a surprise to him. He had no idea what the two of them could possibly add to such an announcement. The biggest he could think of was the pregnancy being foreseen as twins or triplets. Now that would be big news.

However, as Fuyuki listened closely to Tarvainth, observing the warmth and love felt between the couple, he felt his heart well up and his chest squeeze painfully. Tears welled up in his eyes as he nodded his head, slack jawed and completely dazed. Never in his life had he thought a day like this could happen. It never occurred to him that someday someone could ask him this question. It was never a possibility before, yet now it was. Right in front of him were two people of whom mattered greatly to him.

So when he finally did come back to his senses, Fuyuki finally cried out,
"Yes!" over and over again as he rushed to his friends and enveloped them in a hug. "I'd even change the kid's diaper if need be," said Fuyuki, voice muffled as he cried against Tarvi-kun's shoulder. "Just give me the word, and I'll be at their side in a flash." He pulled back from his friends and grinned with his tear-stained face. This was a day he would always remember.

Tarvainth was instantly worried when he saw Fuyuki's tears. Was his friend offended? But as he looked at Shiro's still smiling face and remembered their wedding day and their happy tears, he realized Fuyuki was happy. And as his friend shouted yes, and enveloped them in her hug, Tarvainth felt that his own smile might slip his face.

Shiro was so glad when Fuyuki accepted their offer, as she expected he would. "We're go glad." She said sweetly as she hugged her husband and the Godfather to their unborn child to her. "We have another ultrasound in a few weeks, you could come along if you'd like." Shiro offered as Fuyuki drew back, and she seated herself down again. She still got nauseous from time to time, and sitting could help somewhat. "You could come get a look at your Godchild."

Fuyuki felt like his head would snap off with how fast he nodded it at Miss Shiro's offer. Of course he'd go to the ultrasound if he could, and he would, after he moved his schedule around to give ample time for the viewing. Maybe half the day because why not? It wasn't like he didn't have the power to push things around as he liked with his position. Besides, it was only a few weeks away, so it gave him time to properly move things around. "Just tell me the time, date, and location, and you know I'll be present," said Fuyuki as he wiped away his tears. His chest hurt from all this happiness. He'd be a mess when he actually saw the ultrasound, he was sure. "Oh, but I am so happy for you two. Congratulations, both of you." He gave each of them another hug before retreating back into his seat.

Then he remembered the little box of chocolates he had brought with him.
"It's a good thing I didn't bring wine with me as a hostess present." He chuckled as he handed the box over to his friends.

PostPosted: Tue Nov 08, 2016 9:35 pm
Shiro accepted Fuyuki's gift and laughed lightly. "I'm glad you will come, I will send the details to your phone later. And yes, I'm glad you brought chocolate, since I'm told I'm still allowed that." She rested her head protectively over where her unborn child was growing. "I wonder what he or she will be like, having a Dragon as a Father and me as a Mother." She mused aloud.

"I have a feeling that it's a boy." She added, looking down where her hand lay for a second, "and I'm usually pretty lucky, so I think I'm right."

Tarvainth took the chocolate box from Shiro to lay it on the side-table, and smiled to his friend in thanks. Then he looked at his wife, and listened while she spoke. He had heard his wife's theory about them having a son before, and he knew there was a good chance she was correct. Ever since he had met his wife he had known she was very powerful, perhaps one of the most powerful beings he had ever met. But not in an overpowering way, her powers were strong but kind. She was able to use light magic and heal, create charms of luck and protection and she could speak to elements that existed around her, not just the ones that took on a sentient form.

He would be quite happy with a son, but he would also be happy with a daughter. He wondered about how their powers would shape the life of their child and become a part of them, and he knew as long as they child was healthy and happy, and so was Shiro, he could ask for nothing more.

"Ha, I don't know anyone who'd bet against your instincts, Miss Shiro, but so long as the baby's healthy, everyone will be happy." Fuyuki enjoyed this normal conversation between his two friends. Love. Marriage. Children. Happiness. It warmed his heart to think they were happy together, happy and already building a family. "Ah, but I am curious about what the little tyke will look like. Maybe he'll have your tail, Tarvi?~" Fuyuki giggled as he tried to imagine what features Tarvainth's and Miss Shiro's child would inherit from them. He already knew from past encounters with dragon-human hybrids that, more often than not, they had some dragon features no matter how human they looked. "Though I think it's most certain that he'll have dark hair like you two." Now that he thought of it, Fuyuki did not know much about their extended families, so it could be possible for the baby to have light hair. Their genetic makeup was something unknown to him. Of course, he understood Tarvainth did not know if he still had a family in existence. Porath had taken him away when his friend was a hatchling. However, Miss Shiro was a curious case. They didn't really talk about her parents or their families. It made him curious to know more about her family history. Purely out of curiosity.

Yet it remained none of his business to pry. In fact, he would not touch the subject. Doing so would just bring trouble, as Kuò-kun often said when Ta-chan was up to something mischievous, or felony-level illegal. So, Fuyuki banished those thoughts from his mind as he sat back in his seat and smiled from the bottom of his heart because he was so happy for his two friends.
"Either way, congrats. I'll pray to my clan's kami for good fortune to reign over your child." And that he would. Every day, he'd pray the little shrine in his little apartment for his friends' happiness and for their child's health.

[Should we skip to the birth or to teenage Jabberwocky?]

PostPosted: Wed Nov 09, 2016 9:33 pm
[How about, time skip until after baby is born]

~Time skip~

Hearing her baby cry. Shiro knew from that moment that she would never again hear such an incredible sounds again, aside from maybe when she leaned her head against her husband's chest and heard his heartbeat. They placed her son onto her chest after weighing him and checking him over, performing their duties to make sure he was healthy. She pulled him close in her arms, and felt instant love for him as his cried ceased to gurgles and whines, being near his mother.

She reached out and pushed his dark hair from his face, and let out a startled gasp as she saw his eyes. Vibrant amber eyes with slitted pupils like a cat's eye, looking all the more startling on a baby. Tarvainth's eyes. But that wasn't all, subtle little scale shapes appeared across his face and a few other places on his skin, the same colour and texture as his sink, but the pattern was textured to the touch on his skin like a brand. Her fingertips traced the patter down his neck and over his shoulder onto his back, where her hand bumped into something.

Cautiously, she shifted, to get a better look at his back to see what was there. Wings. Gently, ever so gently, she pulled on one of the leathery wings folded up tightly against the crux of her son's back. Black on the outside like Tarvainth's wings, but bright blood red on the inside. She released the wing to fold back as her son cuddled closer against her, and watched him in wonder.

Tarvainth watched as Shiro examined their son. What are you thinking? He thought as he watched her notice all the things of their son that were not human, as she appeared. His own feelings towards his son made him think of the sun. Warm and immense. However he wondered what his wife thought. Was she scared, seeing un-human traits on their son? Did it scare her? Had she been hoping that it was Tarvainth's current human traits that would be passed on? The answers would not change his own love for their child, but he wondered about what she was feeling.

"Shiro?" He asked, not able to bear her silence, needing to know. Her silence was too stark against the loud sounds of pain he had had to bear hearing from her during labor. That had been unbearable as well, but he had been able to help support her then at least. If he didn't know her thoughts now, he couldn't. He laid a gentle hand on her shoulder, and crouched down to be close to the both of them.

That was when he noticed tears leaked form her eyes. He wondered if he should withdraw. Was this all too much for her to bear? Gently, so as to not startle her, he grabbed their son off of her, and lifted him into his arms. He was so light, and fragile, and he made only a single small sound before returning to sleep in his father's arms. He noticed Shiro's tears increase, falling from her cheeks more quickly. Using one hand he wiped the tears from her cheeks, balancing their son in the other. "What is it?"

"He's so... incredible." Shiro's voice spoke in disbelief, staring at the two of them together.

Tarvainth felt first a massive relief. Shiro wasn't afraid of the un-human traits in their child, she loved him just as his father did. Tarvainth smiled back at her happily, and bounced his baby in his arms before laying him back in his mother's arms. "I think someone in the waiting room is probably very eager to meet him."

Shiro nodded, laughing lightly. "Yes, go and get him. Kuro will be here later." As her husband stepped out of the room to find their son's Godfather before he paced a hole into the ground, Shiro cooed to her son. "Our little Jabberwocky." Kissing his head.

( The cuteness... I can't! crying )

[God, I only want happiness for Shiro and Tarvainth. Too cute.]

Fuyuki was held down by Kuò's kungfu grip to the chair...because the floor was covered in ice from all his pacing. Sometimes, just sometimes, when he was nervous or anxious, he lost his concentration and his powers slipped out. And as a result, two doctors, a nurse aiding a patient using crutches, and said patient using crutches slipped and fell. Within five minutes. He was not allowed to stand up until summoned by a nurse or Tarvainth himself. He was stuck sitting in the waiting room with Kuò.

If Fuyuki hadn't been forbidden from checking the time every ten seconds, he would have long gone mad by the wait. How long did it take humans, or human-passing people, to push a smaller, semi-human, or semi-human-passing baby, out of them? It felt like days had passed since he entered the waiting room of the hospital. It could have been hours, or even half an hour. He had no idea because time was lost on him. He just frantic about Miss Shiro and Tarvainth, beside himself with apprehension. Was their son healthy? Did he have any medical abnormalities not seen in the ultrasounds and blood tests? Or did Tarvainth have a panic attack while Miss Shiro was in labour? So many thoughts passed through his mind---

"Stop. Shaking. Your. Leg." Kuò punctuated each word with increasing strength on Fuyuki's once shaking leg.
Swallowing, Fuyuki apologized.
"I didn't realize it was spreading." It was a poor excuse for all the ice coating the chairs and floor around him.

His only saving grace was...probably, just probably, everyone knowing he did not purposely ice things over. His power was just something he had difficulty controlling when not concentrating or under great duress, as he was now. Luckily, Tarvainth appeared right after Kuò managed to thaw out the waiting room.
"Is it time? Can I meet him?" he blurted excitedly as he strode over to his friend. "Oh, how's Miss Shiro? I--er, we, Kuò, Tatsuo, and I, brought some flowers, gifts, and stuff to, ah, give her energy and everything, ya'know?" Fuyuki never felt so nervous before, and it wasn't the type where fear crept up his throat like a thousand tiny spiders looking for an exit. It was like the first time he made a friend, after being ostracized by his age-mates for his status as an offering to the kami. It was giddy, dazzling, and...and...wonderful. His hands trembled as he beamed up at Tarvainth, waiting for the news.

Kuò thought Fuyuki's little obsession with the tiny town of Kuro Shiro would pass within a few years; that his friendship with this shadow of a dragon would dissipate, but he had been wrong. Fuyuki had, since the day he hatched, a soft, nurturing side. It was gentle, mellow, but never docile. Immature, certainly, as his continued leniency with certain business transactions illustrated. However, as he watched the way Fuyuki practically bounced on the balls of his heels, he couldn't hold any grudges or ire against the young dragon. Not with his good, warmhearted nature. Not with how he resembled himself back as a hatchling, when he was making his first friends with his age-mates. Of course, Kuò had orchestrated the other hatchlings into accepting and including young Fuyuki in their games. It was better him than Boss. Had he been the one threatening little dragons less than a hundred years of age, they would be deceased.

From those memories, a smile was enticed from Kuò as he approached Tarvainth with the fore-mentioned "flowers, gifts, and stuff". "May I say, congratulations, Mr. Wilde. I hope Mrs. Wilde finds these to her liking," he elaborated by extending the gifts towards the new father, but not allowing him to snatch them from his grip. He could not allow Tarvainth to carry the gifts when this was a momentous occasion for him and Mrs. Wilde.

Tachibana sat outside the hospital, barred entry because it was "against health code regulations" to smoke indoors and especially "inappropriate to smoke in the neonatal ward". Humans survived during the 1950s and 1960s when people smoked around infants, and they did fine in adulthood, so why did a little bit of smoke now cause so much trouble? Humans were such annoying, fickle creatures. "Ha," he sighed as he burned through his last pack of cigarettes. He had five empty packs now. Guess that meant he could enter the hospital now, seeing as how he had nothing else to smoke, except the humans inside the building.

Standing up, Tachibana flicked the lapels of his suit jacket and banished the sweet, cherry-scented tobacco from his person, manipulating the wind to scatter it far away. None of the nurses could complain now about him reeking of cigarette smoke or being "bad for the health of newborn and unborn babies and their families". Such bullsh*t.
