Rosie wouldn't stop crying, no matter what the servants tried. One of them came running when she saw Alastair coming into the castle. "Sir Alastair....thank goodness you're back. Princess Rosie won't stop crying, even for the queen. You must help us." She said out of breath. Meanwhile Rosie wasn't too happy that Alatair left her.

Alastair nodded in acknowledgement as he followed the servant to the chambers where Rosie is residing. He then walked over to Rosie and began patting her little head. "I apologize in advance for leaving her here. She is still an infant and needs to be with her guardian." He said as he cradled the little dragon in his arm.

As soon as she heard Alastair's voice and smelled his scent, Rosie instantly stopped crying. As she was cradled in his arm, she snuggled into his chest, gripping his shirt with her claws. poor thing didn't want him to leave her again. As she would grow, she would become more independent but for now, she'd need him for protection and food. Rosie was shaking as she thought he wasn't coming back. She was soon asleep in his arms, with her face in his chest.

As Alastair was roaming the castle halls he could hear his daughter crying from within her chamber. He calmly approached the chamber door and slowly opened it to see Rosie in her human form crying at the edge of her bed. He sighed as he walked up to her and placed his hand along her shoulder. "Rosie...what's wrong?"

Rosie sniffled before she said "It's those other dragons daddy.........They keep picking on me just because I'm blind." She then hugged Alastair burying her face in his side crying. She hated being blind. She had never seen the world around her and was always in need of help from someone from the castle. She wanted to see what the seasons looked like and wanted someone to stand up for her when she was being picked on. She had a crush on another dragon but he acted like she didn't exist.

He wanted for to live a much happier life without feeling ashamed of her condition. He planted a small kiss on the top of her head as he whispered. "I'm here, now. It's okay."

Once she stopped crying, Rosie stayed close to Alastair, as she usually did when she was upset or scared of being picked on. She was holding his hand. She knew that she was a princess and her late-mother was the queen. Ever since she was a baby, she hated leaving Alastair's side. She loved him in a way that was like a daughter would her father. She didn't want to leave his side as she sat with him in the garden. She always felt better here. "Daddy.....do you have to go on any missions?" She asked as her birthday was coming up and she wanted him to be there. Sometimes, like last year, he had to go on missions for her aunt and would often come back with late birthday gifts. She was wanting him to stay with her this year.

Alastair shook his head in response. " The queen has not assigned me on a mission. I might even have the chance to spend time with you on your birthday. " he said with a soft smile. He held her by the hand as he escorted her further into the garden.

Rosie smiled up at him and said "I hope so daddy. I really want you to be here." She then hugged his leg smiling as they went deeper into the gardens. "Hey daddy.....what was mommy like?" She asked not having heard him talk about her mother before. She really wanted to meet her mother but couldn't as her mother was killed by the black marketers. She knew she would be protected at any cost by the knights and her father. She loved Alastair very much and knew he'd always be there for her.

Alastair smiled down at her as he replied to her question. "Well...she was quite a beautiful lady. And, rather adventurous as I once was. We would go out and cause all sorts of trouble when she and I were about your age." He said happily with a slight chuckle.

"She sounds like she would be a great mommy to have." Rosie said smiling up at Alastair. She'd learned over the years to rely on her other senses to get around when Alastair wasn't nearby. Even if she didn't have many friends, she loved the ones that she had and cherished every moment with them. With her birthday coming up, her friends from the village were worrying about gifts but she told them every year, that they didn't have to get her anything, that they just had to come and have fun.

Alastair smiled softly as he ruffled Rosie's hair. He was a bit disappointed that he wasn't able to afford any birthday present at that given time. Although, he was happy to spend time with his daughter on her birthday. He could sense another person in the garden as he look behind him, seeing that it was his dragon friend. "Glad of you to join us." He said with a slight chuckle.

"Whose there daddy?" Rosie asked but got her answer when Gwen talked. "I just thought you should see this." She said handing him a letter from someone who said in it 'We will take your daughter if you don't give her up willingly.' That was all it said. No name, no address or any clues as to who sent it. Rosie stayed next to Alastair holding onto his pant leg so she wouldn't get lost. Being blind was a bother to her. No one liked her except for her family because they thought she wouldn't be able to run the kingdom if she couldn't see in front of her own face. They assumed people would take advantage of her blindness and the fact that she had to read documents and sign them. People could easily say something else and the document could say something bad such as someone who wanted to take control of the kingdom and have her sign it so they would rule instead of her.
