Dueling Tutorial


Welcome to the Dueling Tutorial Arena where all the information you'll need to know about duels is located. Please make sure to read the information carefully before starting a duel.

Each Duel should have its own thread within the "Dueling Arena" Subforum.
Please title your thread roughly as follows: [Duel] Character vs. Character - (Optional Creative Blurb)
Dueling is only available to second years and up.
Please refrain from using spells above your character's skill level. Staff will be scanning duels to make sure the duel is safe and no one is "cheating."

Here you will find all the information you will need to know to duel.

These are some resources to use for lists of spells and their sources. Remember to please stay within your character's year level or below. [Source 1] - [Source 2]
How the Character Stats Translate:

You shall roll two 10-sided dice per turn. The first will decide how your COMMON SENSE comes into play in the EVASION RATE. The second will decide how your INFLUENCE comes into play in the CRITICAL HIT RATE. You then will know if you dodged the last attack and if you managed a critical in your current attack.

Example from First Meta plot

Ok so steps, find your characters stats! uses oscar

Name: Oscar Masterman
Year: Second Year
Played By: Sheacka

Stats
Strength: •••○○○○○○○ 3/10
Wisdom: •••••••○○○ 7/10
Common Sense: ••○○○○○○○○ 2/10
Compassion: •••••○○○○○ 5/10
Influence: ••••○○○○○○ 4/10

K so i figured out base Hps for yall so you can ignore strength...
Wisdom is how much damage you do to the centaur on an average roll! So if you roll you do x amount of damge... because oscar is at 7 that is 17 damage points (look up on the dueling sheet for the other numbers.)

Now he has 4/10 influence points so if he had rolled 1-4 on his second dice his attack on the centaur, instead of 17 would have been 21 (17+4)

So because you rolled, you have successfully done 17 damage to the centaur. Because you rolled a 6 on the second dice you did not do +4 damage from a critical hit bonus

Now Oscar has only 2 Common Sense SO he takes damage UNLESS he rolled a 1 (he rolled a 10 and 10 =/= 1) SO now you look at the damage he took by looking at the centaur roll. He is #3 on the list so counting from left to right we get that he takes 3 Damage.

He has pretty good compassion at 5/10 but still he only heals every other turn, so no healing this round( after centaur posts again he will get +5 hp... but not until the next attack from said centaur). He is at 37 HP (40-3)

Sooo long story short Oscar loses 3 HP to thus be at 37 total HP
And the Centaur loses 17 Hp (+ all the other hp from the others.)
