Knowledge was something Erwane had a craving for. Her teacher had taught her the power of knowledge among her other lessons. He would explain that sometimes a book could be more precious than any jewel they might acquire. His enthusiasm had effected her greatly and she enjoyed finding such treasures as the one in her lap. Her mentor didn't have a collection anywhere near this big. She would enjoy it while she could.
Erwane wasn't too surprised at Alucard's arrival. It was hard to hear his comings and goings, but she assumed it would be easier the longer they were together. Even if it was only for a few days. He seemed to have a certain air about him, this vampire. A presence that she was slightly aware of when they were in the same room.
She set the book aside and looked to him with a smile. "Good Evening. Everything has been perfect." she said, smoothly. "Best place I've ever stayed in." she stated, leaning back in the comfortable chair. She felt like she could stay in a place like this forever. Or at least a few weeks before she started to feel claustrophobic. She never could stay in one place for long. But a place to come back to would be nice.
She wasn't able to think about it long, as Alucard got straight to business. She was glad of that. However, to say that she surprised at his proposition was an understatement. From his earlier suggestion she had assumed that he was just going to act as a protector until he felt his debt was paid. But here he was, offering to lead her to the prize of the century! This was more then she could have dreamed.
Erwane demeanor remained calmly interested. She didn't like for any possible employer to know exactly how interested she was in the job. An old habit, and probably unnecessary with a vampire. Yet, she took her time deliberating. She smooth out her new blouse and answered slowly.
"It sounds almost too good to be true. And a little one-sided." she said slowly, forcing herself to think it out and question every angle of this offer. "I would gladly take this offer. However, is there nothing you want in return for this... amazing service?" she asked, curious. He was either the most generous vampire in the world. Or he had something up his sleeve.

As Erwane asked if there was anything he wanted in return he shook his head
"No. I have everything I could need. I have done everything I could have ever wanted to do. Once this debt is repaid I can find someone to destroy me, once and for all. As decaying slowly over time didn't seem to work that well."
He said this without once again without making any sort of facial expression Alucard truly was tired of living. At least he was tired of living without some sort of purpose, he had conquered colonies, enslaved populations, feed off the finest specimens. Truly he had lived a luxurious life. And living for that long he knew the patience mortals had was slim to none they always wanted to get to the point and get the money in their hands.
"The deal might seem one sided but I know what you truly desire. I could be your little bodyguard for a week or two while you did some little jobs here and there, but that wouldn't do much for you. I figured however that you would love to live a life of luxury what human wouldn't? A few man servants to call upon your every whim, only the finest champagne to touch your crimson lips.. Yes such are the desires of mortals are they not?"
Alucard raised an eyebrow and continued "However this will not be an easy job. This artifact is very closely guarded and they do have dozens of traps set up that could destroy human and vampire alike. I did say that I would show you to the treasure, I didn't say however it was going to be safe." At this Alucard chuckled a little bit and for the first time in front of Erwane he smirked as he laid back in his chair as he thought of all the wonderful traps they had set. "Simply put the treasure is an ancient statue that had been lost in ancient times, I do believe it is around the same age as I. One of my puppets in the mortal world did love it so, he showed me the traps he had set once he had first obtained it, and I even had the privilege to see a few go off, but that was over a thousand years ago I am sure his heirs have changed the mechanisms by this point. But you are a thief no? Is this not what you live for the thrill of adventure?" At this Alucard gazed deeply into Erwane's green eyes and gently brushed his fingers along her neck and licked his lips. Her blood had certainly been very tasty, but he would not feed on her again. Before she had time to bat an eyelash Alucard was standing once more over her chair and was about a nose away from her face as he smiled and offered her a hand up
"So.. what say you halfing?"

It seemed every time Erwane blinked, he said something else that surprised her. So that's why he was in that tomb. It starve himself to death. Not the smartest way to go, but still. What could make a vampire as old as him, lose the will to live? Could it be this woman the butler mentioned? It was a logical conclusion. Love made you do stupid things. Or so she'd heard.
Maybe she was wrong. By his blank face he could just be a shell. Maybe that's what happens to really old vampires. They lose all sense of self, or go crazy. She would put it on her list to skip vampirism.
Erwane continued to listen to him patiently. Something about the things he said made her frustrated. She didn't know why. Maybe it was that fact he assume all "mortals" were greedy. Or just that she was greedy. A logical assumption, considering she was a thief. That didn't change the fact that he had just decided he knew her.
The rest was not all the surprising. What was the point of a good heist if it wasn't challenging? And this one she couldn't help getting excited over. It would be by far the most challenging and the hardest. If she could pull it off it would be the greatest in her career. She would be a legend! Her eyes lit up at the thought. Of course, there was the possibility it could also be the most fool-hardy in her short life. Perhaps if she died they both could go down together. That would solve his problem. Not a comforting thought, but to her it was well worth the risk just to get this chance.
yet, she still wasn't sure how far she could trust him. He was hard to read. Mostly he was emotionless and then he seemed to be entertained when talking about traps. He even smiled as he talked over the danger, as if it was greatly amusing. This man was more than a little unnerving. However, if he meant her harm he wouldn't have brought her here. Alucard was a strange man. Yet, Erwane had an odd feeling that some of what she saw was a charade. A man hiding behind a mask.
"I admit I love... adven-venture...." she started when he was finished. Her voice had faltered as he ran his fingers down her neck. Was it just her, or was there hunger in his eyes? Maybe he was just playing with her. Whatever the reason her heartbeat picked up the pace regardless. Then he was closer. He hadn't seem to move, but suddenly his face was inches from hers. Her breath caught. Why did he suddenly feel the need to make her uneasy?
"I," she swallowed to clear her throat. "I accept your offer."
Hesitately, she took his offered hand and allowed him to help her up. As soon as she was on her feet she looked away and backed away. She would rather have distance between them. Raising her chin and smiling she tried not to show it.
"I'll go gather my things for the trip." She turned to make a hasty exit from the library. Then maybe she could get a hold on herself. Erwane did not want to show weakness in front of this vampire, or let him get to her.

As she stepped out of the library, Alucard made a swift exit as well into his downstairs quarters. He opened his closet and took off his Victorian clothes for more suitable ones for a heist. His new outfit consisted of all black leathers that would help him take cover in the darkness. However it was his tank top that was the dead giveaway that he was a warrior or physical laborer of some sort when he was still mortal, as his muscular frame was accentuated with his new clothing. He strolled over to his bedside table and picked up a few empty vials that were laying there that he had prepared. Strapping a utility belt with the necessary tools they would require to his waist, he turned his gaze to the staircase that led to the prison. He took his time to walk down to the prison, and when he appeared in front of the desperate prisoners they all screamed in fear. Shaking his head he walked into the prison he wished they would stop screaming when he approached. They certainly were tools used by Alucard but he never abused them or killed any of them. He was aware of the fact that being bitten wasn't a pleasant experience, but he always took the time to heal the mortals after he was done with them.

He approached two of the prisoners and cut both of their jugular veins open. As their blood gushed forth he filled the several vials with the life force and sealed them and put them into his utility belt before he cut his wrist with his finger and took his own blood and applied it to the bleeding wound, which healed instantly. He patted them both on the head before stepping out of the prison and walking upstairs with his lightning speed. Alnsworth was standing at the top of the staircase with another champagne glass of fresh blood. Alucard smiled at this his butler was trained very well and this he could appreciate. He took the glass and drained in a matter of seconds and handed it back to Alnsworth the vampire drew the hood over his head and nodded towards his butler
"Thank you Alnsworth. If I do not return look for the heir. They shall inherit all of this land." Licking the last drops of blood from his lips Alucard started walking towards the outside of the mansion and gazed once more upon the night sky. Perhaps it would be the last time he would see it. He could hear the sound of Erwane's footsteps coming from the hall, and he turned to see her walking towards him. As she approached a smile formed on his lips and he raised his hand towards the night sky
"Are you prepared M''lady Erwane? Your fortune awaits."

Erwane didn't take long packing. She had plenty of time to change her clothes a little too. Soft shoes were traded for her worn leather boots; the blouse for a dark green top with long sleeved top and the soft leather corset that wrapped around her waist. It was tailored to fight her slight form but not inhibit her in anyway. The corset wasn't the type to tighten around her waist. It was in this she slipped her collection of throwing knives. At least Alucard couldn't say her outfit was too revealing. Though the collar was rather low, it wasn't enough to show anything.
Why did she care what he thought anyway? She'd dressed the other way for years. However, she couldn't change her decision now.
Her utility belt consisted of her own personal lock picking kit and a few other, rather odd items. At last she pulled on her new thick cloak, by far her favorite new accessory, and threw her pack over her shoulder before heading down the stairs and to the front door.
"Thank you, Alnsworth, for your excellent service." she said as she passed him. She waved at him over her shoulder.
Alucard was already outside, waiting in the night air. He raised his arms to the sky dramatically as she arrived. This she, again, found odd. For a vampire who wished for death he seemed oddly alive.
Hand on her hip and a smirk on her face she answered him in a slightly teasing manner. "I am, Sir Alucard." she said, adding the title to his name. "Are you finished saluting the sky? Or shall we give you a few more minutes." Her smirk turned into a grin as she walked up to him. "Well, lead the way, Lord Vampire."
The night was alive, the sky was clear and the forest alive. It was nights like this that filled her with energy and the need to move, to run. Explore and enjoy the forest as it was. She closed her eyes for a moment and breathed it in. The smell of a new adventure.
Or maybe just her letting her mind get away from her. She shook off the thought and prepared to follow Alucard. They had a lot of ground to cover.
PostPosted: Thu Oct 11, 2012 1:11 am
Alucard lowered his arms and his smile turned into his usual emotionless face as she prodded fun at him he grunted under his breath as he lowered his arm and rolled his eyes
"Cheeky, are we? Hopefully you maintain this confidence when we approach the tomb." he replied as he eyed her form and her new clothing choice before gently stroking his chin and nodding in approval.
"Now you look like a true lady. One worthy of venturing with a Lord." He smirked as he picked up the Erwane bridal style seemed to be the trend with him. He gazed down at her his smirk gradually fading as he looked forward into the distance
"Hold on Lady Erwane."
This time he allowed her to brace herself before he took off running in what would be seen to others as a blur. In what seemed like mere moments they stood outside of a huge mountain with the entrance into it barred by a huge gate. Setting Erwane down Alucard stepped closer to the gate and rummaged through his belt, pulling out a golden key encrusted in emeralds. He approached the gate and stuck the key into the keyhole and turned the key. With a loud clunk the gear mechanism started turning and the gate started to rise. Alucard put the key back into his belt and stepped into the mountainous cavern. It was pitch black and for a mortal nothing could be seen Alucard had prepared for this however and pulled out a torch and lit it with a match he had stored in his belt. He passed the torch to Erwane and continued deeper into the cavern. They made good progress into the dungeon in the first thirty minutes, but Alucard was looking around constantly as he had suspected they had changed the traps. Before he could finish his thought he put his hand out firmly in front of Erwane as he stepped on a loose rock. In mere seconds seventeen swinging axe blades came swinging down and crashed into the walls with a loud thud and cemented themselves into the rock. Alucard let out a sigh and removed his hand from Erwane
"It is as I feared, they did change the traps. We must make our next steps cautiously..." Alucard continued walking through the cavern. They walked for another forty or so minutes before there seemed to be a light at the end of the hallway they walked. As they approached it the dark cavern was no more as the light engulfed this new section of the mountain. they stood on a huge bridge and underneath was a huge body of water that seemed to glitter a pale green. Looking across the expanse of the bridge Alucard once again held up his hand and shook his head towards Erwane
"I shall cross it first"
The vampire sternly replied as he set across the vast expanse of the bridge. With his supernatural senses he could tell that there were several traps laid out on the bridge, once he had triggered them all he would call for Erwane to cross. He purposefully set off the first few traps which also were loose steps set into the bridge. The first few he managed to dodge completely, just when he thought all was well he approached the final spanse of the bridge when a stake came flying out from the lake. Alucard wasn't paying attention to it as he was beckoning Erwane over as it the stake pierced through the entirety of his arm. Falling to one knee Alucard covered the huge hole in his arm with his hand but that did nothing as the blood started to pour out in excessive amounts through his hand. He motioned for Erwane to come over the bridge as he pulled out one of the vials of blood from his belt and started to drink it. He waited for a minute but it did not start healing as he had expected it to. He looked down towards the stake and touched it briefly only to recoil his hand in extreme pain. His eyes opened in shock as he gazed down towards the lake and then back to Erwane.
"This lake has been blessed by a cardinal... This will make things interesting won't it?"
He chuckled as his arm returned to the gaping hole and covered it to the best of his ability he motioned forward
"Come.. we still have much ground to cover before we reach your treasure."

Erwane started to think it might be nice to have a vampire around all the time. Just a quick run and in one minutes flat you were at your destination. She could see how a human, or whatever else, running from a vampire was a pointless endeavor. They were too fast.
By the time she arrived, she was back to normal. His rather arrogant way of complimenting her, had left her blushing. It was surprising that it should. He said it so it seemed to compliment himself as well. Yet, she was unused to being treated like a lady, in any context of the word. It was... nice.
Despite his aloof manner, Alucard was considerate as they entered the cavern. She found it surprising that his key still worked. Also, very suspicious. It was as if someone was expecting him to return, or hoping he would. As they continued forward, Erwane allowed him to stop her whenever he felt necessary. He knew this place better than she did. Out of habit she still took every step with care. Her footsteps were virtually silent to all but the most sensitive ears. The lake she also contemplated. With traps that fell into the water, there must be something wrong with it. Something waiting in it, or something about the water itself.
It wasn't till Alucard was half way over the bridge that see began to follow, not waiting for a signal. She watched him carefully as he dodged traps. Why did he feel the need to set them all off? If anyone was here, they would know there was intruders by the racket made. Her years of thievery had taught her the less evidence you left the better. Alucard was spreading it all over the place. It was irritating.
She did see something glitter through the air as her torch light came closer to Alucard. She was close enough to see the stake go clear through his arm. She paled. Did he know how incredibly lucky he was? That could have killed him! She walked quickly up to him. He was holding the heavily bleeding arm. Yet all he did was chuckle and suggest moving on. She was not amused.
Erwane grabbed his arm. The hole was a gory sight and she swallowed down bile. "My treasure can wait a minute. It's not the most important think right now." she snapped and opened one of the bags on her belt. "I know you are suicidal but can you at least suppress that mindset for a bit?" she grumbled. She pulled out a thick roll of cloth bandages and rags. "This might hurt, Sir Alucard." she said, giving him a smirk.
She balled a few rags up and stuffed them in the openings at the front and back of the hole. Then she began to wrap it tightly. It should slow the bleeding. She sawed through the end of the bandage with her knife and put the extra away. Tying it off, she surveyed her work with satisfaction. "There. Now you won't be bleeding all over the place and making yourself too starving. So I'm safe from you. For now." she said curtly. She put the stuff back and wiped the blood off her hands. "If you were human, I'd say you'd loose that arm."
Erwane started walking, this time sticking close. She wasn't about to let him lower his guard again. "Hey. Don't you think it's odd that an entire lake has been blessed? Are you the only vampire to know of this place? Because if you are, it seems someone was hoping you would come back. Or at least that a vampire would stumble upon this place." she said. She kept her voice low so it wouldn't echo too much. "Sure these traps could kill me as well, but it's bothering me." Granted, she was also naturally paranoid.
A trip wire glittered just before she hit it. She quickly stepped over it, cautioning her partner.
PostPosted: Sat Oct 13, 2012 1:52 am
As the halfling bandaged his arm Alucard quietly gazed down towards his bloodied arm and thought contemplated to himself. Here he was acting like a mere fledgling allowing himself to drain of his life essence, setting off traps on purpose, and not having any regard for his life. He needed to focus and act like a vampire of his age and make true to his word with Erwane. He finally broke his stern gaze and turned his attention to the halfling. He nodded and stood up
"Yes. I will focus on your treasure, and also my own well being."
With that he reached into his utility belt and uncorked another vial of human blood. He drained the vial and with that quietly slipped it back into his utility belt as to not make noise. A slight movement under the tourniquet could be seen as the rags seemed to shift inside his arm as it tried to heal itself, but the holy water was stopping its any solid progression being made.

As Erwane mentioned if he had been the only vampire to know of this place Alcuard shrugged his shoulders "It is hard to say. There could be other vampires that knew of this place. Or it could be that the ancestors have passed the tale of a vampire possessing knowledge of the location of the treasure. Either way nobles will spare no coin to ensure that they are covered on all bases. We must proceed carefully from this point on."
As his partner motioned to the trip wire he stepped over it and looked for any other possible traps. Alucard made sure to avoid all the traps and also motion for Erwane to step over them as well. They continued walking across the well lit lake on the narrow path provided for them for what seemed to be an hour before Alucard motioned for Erwane to stop. In front of them resided a sword encrusted in diamonds, emeralds, rubies, amethysts, and sapphires. The sword however was encased in what seemed to be a glass panel of some sort. Alucard grinned at the sight of the sword in front of them

"That Lady Erwane is your fortune. The reason I never claimed this treasure as my own however was because it is a holy relic. I cannot put my hands on the hilt of the blade. You however are a different story."
He briefly glimpsed around the large underground cavern to make sure there wasn't anything he had overlooked. Once he made sure there was nothing he could possibly forget he motioned forward to the sword with his good hand
"Every thing is in place, take your treasure and let us be done with this place."
Alucard nodded and stood guard so Erwane could retrieve the holy relic

Erwane stepped up to the case containing the sword. Alucard and the hours of walking and dodging traps were forgotten for the moment. The sword was beautiful. Truly a work of art. What stories lay in it's past? It would be interesting to find out.
She pulled her gloves out and slipped them on. She didn't want to leave residue or set off anything unnecessarily. This case most-likely had a few pressure pads around it. And under the sword. This place had traps out the wazoo, why not here too?
"You are beautiful." she muttered. "Why in the world would someone bury you in a cave?"
Pulling one of tools out of a little bags at her hip, she set it against the glass. It should cut threw it. There was a screeching sound. The little knife only left a slight scratch. "Crystal? Unique." she commented impressed. She looked around for a way to get the lid off. The owner must have had a latch or something to get to the sword with. The torch light was too flickering. She snapped her fingers and a small light appeared. She wasn't good at magic, but her elven blood gave her the ability to at least make a mage light
After what seemed awhile she found something out of place. She hooked her finger into a hole and pulled. There was a hiss and then a pop. "Got it." she said triumphantly. "That's a clever contraption." She lifted the lid with a grunt and set it aside. Taking off her cloak, she lifted the weapon and quickly wrapped it.
"I got the sword, let's get out of here before another trap goes off." she said. She snatched the torch and hurried to Alucard. "Think we can get out faster, now that we know where all the traps are?" she grinned, already moving forward.
PostPosted: Sat Oct 13, 2012 11:37 pm
As Erwane pulled the sword from the case he nodded as she asked if they could get out of the mountain faster.
"Yes, it should be quite easy to make good time, I cannot carry you while you carry that relic however"
He replied while starting to walk. They had been in this mountain for several hours, if they waited any longer the sun would start to rise, and he would be a hindrance rather than a strength. But before they could cover any significant ground the sound of hands clapping together could be heard from the passageway in front of them. A slim silhouette could be seen reflecting off the walls of the cavern as it slowly approached the two of them
"I had always been told there was someone who knew of the sword... I did not think that he would have a way of retrieving it, and I went through all those nasty precautions to make sure a vampire wouldn't be able to achieve safe passage through this maze" The stranger remarked and came into the light. He was a well dressed nobleman with blonde hair and green eyes. A sword was at his waist and he had an assortment of crosses and and canteen of water at his hip. Alucard furrowed his brow and flashed his fangs to the stranger
"I am no ordinary vampire. You shall learn that about me rather quickly!"
Within seconds Alucard had appeared behind the man with his hands positioned at his neck, with a loud crack the man's neck had been snapped in half, and his blood splattered the walls of the cave. Some of the nobleman's blood had fallen onto Alucard's face and with a roar of pain the lord fell to the ground in agony. Clutching his face with one of his hands he stayed in the kneeling position for a good two minutes before he stood up and uncovered his face revealing that part of his cheekbone could be seen almost as if his skin had been eaten away by something. In hindsight Alucard knew at this point he looked horrid, but it was nothing that a good night's sleep wouldn't fix.
"We have no time, we must make for the exit before the sun rises."
And once more he set off towards the exit of the cave, he was sure that Erwane would heckle him in one way or another, but if they reached exit then their deal would be completed. The two continued to walk through the tomb until they reached the exit. With this a smile could be seen plastered about Alucard's face, they had made it in time! Or so he had thought, a brief glimmer of the sun's ray had started to peak over the horizon and also briefly touched Alucard's body. The vampire lord dropped to the ground as the horrid stench of burning skin wafted about through the passageway. He scooted back into the shadows and let out a long sigh and looked to Erwane
"You have your treasure, you must leave now. I will stay here and fight off any reinforcements and make sure that they can't find your trail. I am of no use to you in the light. With this our deal has been completed Lady Erwane. May you find happiness in the rest of your mortal life."
And for the first time a genuine smile could be seen on the face of the ancient vampire as he extended his good hand to shake her hand
"If anyone was to wake me from my slumber, I am glad it was you. Now make haste, there should be reinforcements coming!"

"No."
Erwane looked down at the horribly burned Alucard, who's face was mutilated by the blood of man who had been blessed. The sun had only added to it. Seeing Alucard kill like that had made her stomach roll. She'd barely kept from wrenching. She never wanted to see that again. She didn't like it, even hated it. It was too cruel. However, she knew the man would have killed them both. Alucard's quick reaction probably saved them both. After all he'd done for her, she could leave him. Not like this.
She took the old vampire's hand, grasping it in her own. She leaned close, not caring that such an act would be dangerous. "I don't leave people behind. Not for worthless treasure." she said. "I did that once. I'm not doing it again, Alucard." This would not be good-bye.
She turned, ripping her hand out of his grasp. This was a tomb. There must be a place for both of them to hide. The man earlier had said this was a maze. Even a expert could get lost in his own maze. Especially one this size.
First order of business, she shut the doors to the tomb. With a grunt she pulled them shut, blocking out the sun. This place had old statues with weapons in their hands. She took them with an apology to the dead and barricaded the door. No help would come from outside for awhile. Next she stashed the sword, taking back her cloak. She knew little of swordsmanship she it was useless in her hands. She placed it behind a statue. In the shadows it should go unnoticed.
Already, sounds of footsteps could. She looked around. There must be another passage somewhere. She ran, pulling on anything remotely suspicious. She was lucky to find a passage after the third try. Like everything in here it looked well kept. People knew it was here but it worked for now.
"Come on, we got to run and dodge." she said, helping him up. "No protests, or we both die. Exciting huh?" she joked. It was mainly to dispel a bit of her own tension.
She force lead him into the passage, glad when it swung shut behind them. Now they needed to find a place to hide for awhile.
PostPosted: Sun Oct 14, 2012 1:28 am
Alucard was very surprised that Erwane chose him over the treasure, his face had a puzzled look on it as the halfling helped him to his feet. Luckily she found a hidden passage that they hid in for the moment. As she joked with him Alucard chuckled lightly as he briefly glanced around the narrow corridor, they had two paths that they could take. Alucard started staggering forward towards the left path and soon he could seen down that corridor. To his dismay it was a dead end. He staggered back a few steps and looked to the right passage and saw that it lead to a well lit room, if they were to hide for multiple hours they had to act fast. It was then that an idea came to the ancient vampire. Reaching into his utility belt he pulled out his last vial of blood and drained it. He could feel his strength returning once more, but he knew it would only last for so long. He walked into the right passageway and stood directly in front of the dead end. With his hand he started to scoop out giant chunks of mountain, but he did so as quietly as possible. He continued this process for a few minutes until he had hollowed out a small space that could fit two people comfortably. He also made sure to carve small holes into the hallowed area so that way Erwane could have fresh oxygen. He hurried the halfling into the area and then walked in after her. He piled the fragments of rock back into place and tried to make it look as though nothing had happened, but in the vast darkness it would be almost undetectable. The room wasn't extremely spacious but it certainly had enough room for both of them to stand without crouching down.
"I must rest my lady. Once I have gathered my strength and the sun has set we shall leave this place."
He smiled towards her once again but after being subjected to two different holy powers and digging this cavern Alucards strength had been severely drained. He wrapped both arms around Erwane's stomach and had collapsed to the ground. Using the last bit of his strength he had made sure that Erwane had landed comfortably. Being in the big spoon position Alucard only managed to mutter out
"Sorry this was the best I could do."
Before he closed his eyes and fell asleep within seconds, his arms still wrapped tightly around Erwane.

Watching Alucard make a hole in the wall was one of the most amazing things she'd seen. He was able to dig through solid rock! That would have come in handy for quite a few predicaments she'd been in. Going through a wall would have been so much easier. But unfortunately she had to think of more subtle ways of finding exits. It made her glad she was flexible.
However, the process was still too slow. By the time he was done, Erwane was jumping at every strange sound, sure that they were about to get caught. She didn't need much prodding to get inside their make-shift hideaway. How Alucard knew exactly how the wall came back together she didn't know. Granted, she didn't care at the moment.
Alucard's statement wasn't unexpected. Erwane nodded understanding. She'd watch over him as he sleep. She hoped no one would find them. What she hadn't expected was for him to grab her and pull her down with him.
"H-Hey!" she hissed. "Why me too?" His explanation did little to satisfy her. She was pretty sure him laying by himself was the best he could do.
Once he fell asleep she tried to remove his hands. They were going nowhere. Her efforts didn't wake him either. He slept like the dead. Figures. She had no choice but to lay there, her face red and her heart thumbing loudly to her own ears. Was it her imagination or did Alucard pull her closer because of this? It was hard to relax when she was so aware that he was up against her. So she lay there, trying not to think about it and relax. Yet, to her surprise, she wasn't too upset. It might have been nice, had he not bee a severely injured vampire.
After a time she relax enough that she started to doze. Every sound startled her awake to wait breathlessly for whatever it was to pass. Sometime is must have been a rat. Others it was footsteps or voices, but nothing discernible. The low tone and wall between them made it hard to hear anything they might be saying. Each time this happened, Erwane lay frozen until finally her body relaxed enough to doze again. It was a long time, but soon the voices became less frequent and she started to slip off into a deeper sleep. She relaxed into Alucard's arms, despite her efforts as exhaustion took her.

Many hours later Alucard slowly stirred from his sleep the vampire could feel someone pressed up against. Without opening his eyes he grumbled for a moment before his eyelids gently fluttered and saw that Erwane resided next to him. A brief smile graced the vampire's face before he removed a hand from her resting frame and looked to his grave wounds. His arm had completely healed and the bandages that Erwane had used to patch up his arm resided close by, with his free hand he grazed his face and could feel that his skin was once again smooth, and no longer jaded and cracked. He could feel pangs of hunger course through his entire body. But he was not about to feed on Erwane, his craving could be put on hold for a little while. With his stand still on her frame he gently shook her and whispered into her ear
"Come Lady Erwane, Let us make our retreat."
He removed his hand from her waist and proceeded to stand up and dust himself off. After doing so he offered her a hand up and then with a swift punch had destroyed the wall that encased them within the mountain. He cracked his neck and walked throughout the secret passage. He then punched the wall that connected the secret passageway to the main corridor that would let them escape. Luckily for them there were no guards anywhere in sight. Looking down to his right Alucard could see the sword wrapped in the sheet, and ahead of him was the entrance to the tomb. Removing the sword that Erwane had put in place and then pulled the key out of his back pocket, and unlocked the front gate. As the door opened he walked out into the still night air and breathed in deeply, another smile started to grace the vampire's face as he turned to Erwane
"Well. That was interesting. Let us be done with this place M'lady, I have seen enough holy relics, and crazed noblemen for another hundred years."
He chuckled and started to walk towards his mansion that would take several hours to walk too. He would pick up Erwane and run there but she wouldn't be able to hold the sword reliably under such speed. And if the sword touched him he would be hurt and needless to say he had been wounded enough for one day. As they continued to walk Alucard's hunger pains grew worse the look on his face went from relaxed to somewhat stressed as his brow furrowed as he tried to fight his urge. In order to distract himself he forced himself to smile as not to make Erwane uncomfortable
"Thank you for resting with me. I hope it was comfortable for you as it was for me."
He knew that she really didn't have a choice in the matter, he had certainly forced her to do so, but over the last 48 hours he had certainly grown a lot fonder of the halfling that journeyed with him, she was very quick on her feet.
"You are extremely cunning and smart. You will certainly do well for yourself with the fortune that you will acquire for youself."
He continued to look off into the distance before he added
"I would however be very pleased if you would stay with me a while longer M'lady Erwane. Forgive my selfishness, but.. I.. feel close with you. I understand if you don't feel the same way."

Erwane was glad to get out of that place. There was no nobles anymore, but the further they got away the best. She had her sword and Alucard was fine. It was a weight off her shoulders.
She was surprised Alucard didn't run, but she deduced that those wounds had taken their toll. Even if he did look fine. Taking the sword in her arms she kept a little distance between them. She may respect the vampire, but she wasn't too keen on getting fed on again.
Erwane giggled at his words. "After I got past the constant fear of being found, yes. I did sleep rather comfortable." She trailed off at hearing the compliments. Heat rose to her face and she tried not to show him the smile that threatened to break through. His praise made her feel happy. She thought it was silly of herself, but she couldn't help it. Alucard didn't have to know that though.
Yet, when he asked her too stay, the answer came a little faster than she intended. "I'd like to stay... for a bit longer." she added. Looked at him, she smiled. "As long as I'm not intruding, Sir Alucard." Her smile turned coy when she added the 'sir'. It disappear quickly though.
"Are you alright? Can you make it to the mansion?" she asked. That uneasy filled her. It was instinctual to be wary of a predator after all. She tried to give him some more space.
