A stop on the great ship pirates came to an island. The men saw a haze if smoke in the houses. with anger all the crew men yelled at the door of the captain but the first mate ordered for them so scavenge the place for any riches.

Ellen crouched in an alley, wincing as she unwrapped the bandage on her left forearm. The burn underneath still looked bad, and she bit her lip. Doesn't look like that will heal soon, she thought to herself, although I already knew it wouldn't. God wouldn't be healing my wounds anytime soon, no matter what Mother thought... She shook her head and wrapped the burn again, then stood, wincing at the pain it caused her legs. It hurt, but she couldn't stay any longer. They would find her...
Then she heard the noise. Have I been found? She peeked around the corner, seeing one of the pirates pass by. No... Pirates! This could be my chance! It took concentration, but she managed a passable cloaking spell. It wasn't an invisibility spell by any means, but it made it so no one could look directly at her. Their eyes would simply pass over her, drawn to something else nearby, and she would be safe.
She walked towards the port, hoping to find the pirates' ship there. Smiling at her good luck, she boarded the ship quietly, hoping no one would notice her. If her luck held, her spell wouldn't fail and she could hide until the ship came to another port, where she could disappear and create a new identity. A new life. She wasn't afraid. She had no attachment to her old life, not anymore. I am not a frightened little girl anymore. I am Ellen, the powerful witch, and I will be strong.
And so Ellen-the-powerful-witch found herself huddled behind a crate in the ship's cargo hold, laying low until she could make her escape.

The crew during their ransack of the valuables. "There must have been a war here." One of the crew men spoke coming back on the ship. After a few minutes the captain came out of the brig." Our food is invested with rats! Get rid of them!" She said as she sat on a crate waiting for them to do their jobs.

Hearing the captain's orders, Ellen shrank back, pressing herself into the corner and trying to make herself as small as she could. She hated the idea of rats surrounding her-- what if they bit her?-- but she was more afraid of what would happen if she let herself be caught. Her fear made her cloaking spell waver, but she held it as strong as she could.

Taking the crate with the girl in the man who had it shook the crate thinking he was torturing rats. but noticed what was hitting around was bigger then a rat. So he too it too the captains room thinking he found something valuable.
