Mei-Li huffed her breath through her nose, and scratched the back of her neck lightly. Keiko seemed to be taking in this whole thing rather well . . . same with Takeo. Maybe people from their world are just . . . really adaptable to change.
"Yeah, two . . . out of seven. Your friends . . . I'm pretty sure if you saw all your friends get pulled in, then there're now four Miko running around the lands of the Four Gods. Five including you."
The woman turned to stare at Takeo when he mentioned not knowing about a mark. How wouldn't he know about his mark at his age . . . !? Unless . . . the power of Pangu didn't work in their world? That would make sense . . .
"What do we do? Another good question," she put in when Takeo asked. Her smile was a bitter, sarcastic one. "Well, if you really want to know . . . we get up off our asses and pray to the gods we get lucky. Because unless the other Seishi are as in-tune with their qi as I am, we're gonna have to scour the entire land for them. And trust me, this place isn't a walk in the park." The bitterness grew, seeping into her already cynical, sarcastic tone. "Not everyone in this place takes the legends well. To some, it's a sign of promise. To others, it's a sign of demise. And the latter . . . tend to be the people in power. Which means if word gets out the Miko's here, we're gonna have a lot more to worry about than just how friggin' big this country is."
