That pepsi commercial wasn't too bad. Wasn't my favorite though. Wish that Bud one would have been shown though.

I remember Macross. Robotech too, just the first season with Rick and the gang. Ah, those were the days, my introduction to the awesome of Mecha. VF-1S for the win.

Feh. The Valkyre is not just a transforming Jet Robot. It is the pinacle of versatility, a true superiority fighter. It can engage in atmosphere, on land, and even in the depth of space: able to dish out incredible damage with its 53-mm triple barreled rotary cannon, variable missle payload, and defensive laser(s). Its control system reads your thoughts as well as utilizing phyical controls, allowing the pilot to react with frightening speed and precision. Skilled pilots can even make their mech put on and wear clothing.
Lets see a gundam do that. Oh wait, thats right. THEY CANT.

Gundams are too cool for clothes. Honestly, it interferes with the chest mounted gatling guns and the leg mounted rocket pods.
Don't be hatin'.

Fine. But regardless, I can only imagine what a Jedi could do at the controls of a veritech.

A jedi in a 50 feet tale mecha with a lightsaber gets ugly real quick. One of my GM’s phased out the Mandalorian’s Basilisk war droids and replaced then with Valkyrie.

Already ran something like that once, but the mech was more gundam than VF. A Galactic Civil war era Jedi boy (a padawan by Jedi Standards with limited training) got his hands on a high powered fighter that could transform into a "Walker". The device was one of several prototypes built by a Duros Genius and funded by an extremely violent Anti Imperial Faction. The Duros was teminated when he was no longer useful and the Feeorin testpilot for the project escaped with the prototypes, which ended up in the hands of his old friends. Thats how the Jedi got it. Good times.

Sounds like you had more fun with it than I did; you got to fly the thing. All I got to do was get shot full of hole from the things, lost two ships because of it. (Fracking sadistic GM.) He wouldn’t let any of the player characters have one, stupid self-destruct systems. We were only able to capture one, relatively intact, pined the thing to a building using the mandibles on the front of my YT. Crash killed the pilot and totaled my YT, but we finally had our hands on one, until R&D took the thing away from us. That war lasted two years and stretched across the galaxy. Oh, and another jack move my GM did to us was he gave the Mandalorian’s Fold-drive technology, so they could launch from their base, pop out anywhere, attack and disappear back into fold space and be back to their base for dinner. We were still stuck using a slow a** hyperdrive of x½.

This campaign was done about ten years ago or so, long before a lot of what we know was changed by wookieepedia. It was in the Rebellion era, right after the first Deathstar was destroyed. He decided to spice things up a little by having the Mandalorian’s return from the far edge of the galaxy and take out every ship building facility, dry-dock and anything else with a hyperdrive in it, throwing the galaxy back to the dark ages. They didn’t come looking for a good fight, they came for revenge. He based the Mandalorian’s clans from Battle Tech, giving then Omi-mechs for the ground and three different Valkyrie fighters, a light, a medium and a heavy, the wasp, VF-1A, the stinger, VF-1J and the Phoenix Hawk, VF-1S-S. They used clones as grunt troopers, only if you killed a clone it’s knowledge and experience would transfer to a new one, (sound a little familiar?) my pal got to play one, and he got killed a few times, only to wake up in a vat of goo and kept coming back to fight. Bloody long game, a lot of characters died in that game, my main character had to sacrifice herself and wound up trapped in a Holocron with Darth Vader and the Spirit of Exar Kun.
