Dubix Proudly_Jewish Is anyone here other than myself learning German? I've only been studying German for 2 months and I find that I'm very drawn to it... it's a lot like English 3nodding not only is it alot like english (English being a Germanic language...that's why x3), its also quite easy to pick things up once you get the hang of it. The only downside being that there are no set rules for putting on Die, Das, and Der... thus why I just learn them with the words heart I wish I would have done that when I started. 3.
I did with French and Spanish, but only after I learned my lesson with German. xp

Rainmaria I suck at conjugation, too...though at the moment my greatest trial in life is trying to figure out how to say 'fox' without a german dictionary. sweatdrop Der Fuchs.

Velvy Judy-chan Hello all 4laugh Hi Velvy, hi choc heart Schoen, euch zu sehn lol , na du auch hier? whee @thiughtless you havent learn anything there during the 3 years? I dont belive you whee Don't knock it; my first three years were taught by a horrendous teacher. She lost her job, and now no one will hire her because she has no idea what she's talking about. After teaching my German class for three years, she's working at a department store.
Luckily, I have a knack for picking up languages, and I was interested enough to read through the books and ask my German exchange partners if I was screwing anything up. =x

a n a c h r o n i c Sluvotsky We need to come up with a list of words that are just, fun to say. I read a news article that said the German people had voted that "Rhabarbenmarmelade" was the funnest word to say. Go on, try it. Rhabarbenmarmelade. It just rolles off the tongue. Rhabarbenmarmelaaaaade. Well, rolls about as much as a German word can roll. Rhaaaabaaaarbenmarmelaaade. ...Like a cardboard box in the wind. XDXDXD; Haha. That's awesome. <333
I think my favourite word like that is Ehrfurchtgebietend (I believe that's the spelling, anyway). It was funny, because I used it to mean "cool" rather than the actual meaning, and it drove my German teacher mad. She knew I was doing it on purpose, though. ;x

I've only been learning German for about 3 months now. So, it's not very well developed at this stage.
I was originally interested in German from a young age, just after I realised that people spoke different languages, and that although German was a different language, it could at times be very similar.
So finally, I decided to give it a shot, even though by this stage I knew that being an English speaking would only give me a slight advantage over others trying to learn it.

Ja. Guter Punkt. Englisch und Deutsch sind beide Germanischen Sprachen, nach allen.
And once you've pretty much mastered German and English, learning Dutch would be a breeze for anyone.
I didn't pick up on German until a few years back, when I learned that my blood is strong in German, and it would've made my grandfather proud and all that..
Now that I know my blood's also strong in Dutch, that's what I plan to master after German.
