I have a question for Germans about American accents. Do they sound really stupid to a majority of Germans? I have heard that a lot of them find them quite humurous. My friend tries to speak German to her grandmother and she laughs at her(then again, she's only taken German 1).

I make fun of my german teacher because he has an accent. X33 Yeah. Germans generally tend to giggle at them a little, but they're not as uptight and disgusted as the french are. A perfect german accent is something that's hard to achieve - they should understand that.

The one thing that does get alot of people is mixing up gender, though. That's a killer. Dx

...Frog-like as this'll make me sound, I don't blame French people for laughing at some foreigners' accents >_> Some people honestly have no idea what they sound like in French...

Hey, Hawk_McKrakken? I don't mean to sound rude, but your sig is spelled wrong. Dx

"Gute Absichten und FRIEDEN."

Freiden is pronounced fry-den, but it should be free-den, as in frieden. It's a common mistake by english-speaking learners, don't worry. ^^

Sorry if that sounded rude. Dx;

It didn't. But 'ie' and 'ei' are commonplace spelling errors for anyone, really. Actually, it's pretty easy to misspell any diphthong... Thanks for catching that... I probably wouldn't have noticed.

J0EL
And of course, when you use this verb(or any modal) it knocks the main verb to the end of the sentence.

Darf ich die Kino gehen?

In that sentence 'darf' pushed 'gehen' to the end of the sentence.

It should be 'Darf ich ins/in das Kino gehen?'

I've got a pronunciation question...

How do you pronounce the "ch" in riechen? Is pronounced like the ch in "Blech," "Loch" or just as a "k"? I've honestly never heard anyone say a word with "iech" before.
