The light display was quite beautiful, and Fjorgyn smiled gently to see the fox sprite so energetic. Careful, she wanted to call out to Hajna as his light dimmed in the darkness ahead, but swallowed her warning as he returned. As he circled around her, she let out a startlingly loud laugh which she quickly stifled, once again embarrassed by the sound of her voice.
Fjorgyn regarded Sorrel's outstretched hand shyly, her blushing more apparent than ever. The smile he flashed at her, appropriately toothy and dazzling, was enough to make her next whisper come out in a stutter: "G-g-g-games?" Games weren't the first thing that came to mind in the middle of a dark scary unknown woods, but she could see the merit behind keeping the atmosphere light. Her favorite game, hide-and-seek, was probably not a good idea given the circumstances though. Fjorgyn took Sorrel's hand and smiled timidly in return. "Um...what starts and ends with an 'e', and has a letter in between?" She rarely spoke so many words in one go. It felt odd.
Then, the entire ground shifted with a huge rumble -- not like thunder, but more like the sound of a thousand growling dogs. Fjorgyn yelped and squeezed Sorrel's hand, tight enough to be uncomfortable but not necessarily to cause actual pain.

Play games? In the dark, lost, in a forest that dripped blood? This was a great idea. Altair sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose with his free hand. Reluctantly, he admitted to himself that it might be good, if only for the cuties of the group. He just wished everything and everyone were a bit more organized. That wolf.... it was enough to give him a headache. Altair sensed they might butt heads often. What would they play? I Spy? I spy something red. Oh, wait they were in a forest that dripped BLOOD. Distractedly, he watched as Hajna ran off and, just as quickly, bounded back, giving off remarkably beautiful light. How interesting.
"Games or not, the sooner we move, the sooner- ACK." Altair's light flickered and disappeared, like a light bulb burning out, as he was suddenly the recipient of a furry backpack. After he steadied himself, he snapped again, bring up a new orb. It zoomed around Hajna's head in surprise before drifting upwards a bit. Hajna was warm and sift and Altair smiled. "Alright, Fluff, that's not a bad idea. Although I hardly think the wolf will have to eat anything. Besides, I'm sure his bark is worse than his bite." Altair sent the orb whirring towards Sorrel, where it promptly booped him on the nose before bouncing up again. He coughed to conceal his smile.
Altair's first few steps were unpleasant in the extreme for the star. The extra weight of Hajna caused his bare feet to sink deeper into the murky loam. This place was just... not beautiful. Even the trees had grown at ugly angles and the seeming absence of an actual sky made him feel slightly claustrophobic. "Hmmm..." The noncommittal sound was oddly musical as he pondered the giant's riddle. "Couldn't it be any number of things, including the word 'eye'?" He hoisted Hajna higher on his back, letting out a contented hum.

LES CORBEAUX it flickers, that curious thing. in the middle of this gruesome land, it shines bright. it's the only thing that has ever shined. it's beautiful. i want it. i need it. The crimson sludge danced in between the children's feet, caressing their knees like a mother would caress her little ones. It was viscose and sticky, smelly and putrid. It was perfectly gross and strangely morbid. It was the closest thing to what we humans call a coagulation. The sprites moved awfully slowly, so slowly, in fact, that they hadn't noticed how fast they were sinking in the mud, and how hard it would be for them to run now. How sad it is that running was the best thing they could do now. Its eyes were all fixed on the thing. Inside of them, an odd feeling arose, perhaps the only feeling they had ever felt inside their broken and rotten bodies. The first one to see it was not lying after all, there indeed was something flickering in the forest. They grew nervous as the thing came closer to them, they found themselves unable to move. They were all excited, curious, nervous and intrigued. They had never seen anything quite like it. Needless to say, they fell in love with it. They needed to have it. Yet, as it came closer to them, they became aware of the fact that it belonged in the hands of a boy whose entire appearance contrasted theirs, a kid that unnerved them because he also shone. They glanced at each other in the dark, their eyes shining mysteriously and evilly. If they were to divide both the child and the orb between them all, a little piece for each corvid, they would get to have the most beautiful nests in the entire forest. They spread out their hideous and unfeathered wings in the air, and soon, a murder of crows welcomed the sprites. Crows, as we all know, have a certain love for shiny objects. The children might have been a tiny bit too innocent when they thought the crow would show them the way. Some of the birds flew right above the starchild's head, picking at his hair, hands and clothes, some others preferred to land on nearby branches, waiting for their grand moment to come. Altair is in trouble here. Will the group help him? Divide and conquer: How many crows should each sprite deal with to get rid of the murder? You only have one guess, so guess right! The image below is your guideline!

Suddenly, the darkness was alive. A multitude of red eyes stared at the small group, avariciously fixed upon the light. They swooped low, pecking at Altair's bright hair. He yelped and swatted at them with his staff. Then, they began in earnest. The murderous avians attacked. Their beaks were sharp as knives and twice as wicked, drawing blood easily. The crows cawed, drawn to Altair's light like deadly moths to a flame.
"Get away! Watch out, guys!" Sucking in a sharp breath, Altair threw the orb of light with all his might, watching it disappear into the trees. The crows' eyes glazed slightly as the light, accustomed to only the dark forest. Frantic, they turned towards it and Altair swung his staff wildly. crack! crack! He heard the crunch of wing bones snapping and revulsion slithered into his belly. Resolute, he swung his staff again, taking out two more with one blow.
He felt a tug on his yutaka as Hajna scampered down, the small foxling darting forward. Suddenly, he spun fluidly, shooting bits of brilliant light directly at the birds. Screeching and disoriented, they spun off from their attack and smacked into the red covered trees. Fluff huffed in pride, weirdly enthusiastic about fending off the birds. It was utter chaos, full of lights and howls, and the wet sickening thump of birds meeting their doom.
A snarl sounded near Altair's ear and Sorrel barreled past, clawing at the strange birds. He fought viciously, like a wild man. He began to keep a mental tally of the birds. So far, eighteen were downed. There was no reasoning with these animals; even Fjorgyn had to fight, her height making it easy to snap a branch off of a tree. With great sweeping movements, she felled bird after bird above their heads. The scared kitten had scrambled up a tree and lept, scratching crows out of the sky as she went. It was a hard battle. But, even the flashes of light from Hajna eventually slowed and stopped. Altair wiped up the blood trickling down his temple. Twenty-five vicious monsters.
The ragged sound of their breathing echoed in the silence.
Cautiously, Altair paused and tried to summon a new light. His bloodied fingers slipped, but finally snap. Its gentle light illuminated the birds littering the ground. Some twitched spasmodically, some were still. Altair imagined some had just flown, injured, into the forest. "D-did we get them all?"

LES CORBEAUX - ANSWERTheir bodies trembled aggressively, their wings no longer moved, all covered in a heavy crimson fluid. Their empty eyes stared into the children's and, slowly, the crows began sinking into the mud. The sprites could finally breathe, for they had counted correctly and the beasts had been defeated. Correct! No one died this time. The team may continue! (Remember Team A will be joining you soon)

Tomiko stared at her hands, the ones she had grown claws out of, the ones that had blood on them. She could hardly believe what had just happened, but the birds had come out of nowhere and started attacking Altair! There was no way she was going to let her friend get hurt. They had all banded together to help him, even Sorrel who didn't seem very fond of him. Twenty-five crows attacked. Twenty-five crows dead. Her eyes were big as she thought about what had just happened, but they were protecting Altair so it was okay! A small frown was on her face. "Everyone okay?" Regretablly, she wiped her hands on her overalls as she looked around at her companions. Everyone seemed okay, minor cuts and scrapes but overall well. A large sigh escaped her as she calmed her fast beating heart.

Hajna stood, panting slightly, brows furrowed as he looked around. The crows had attacked his glowbug, buddy. And that was simply unacceptable. He heaved a few sighs and gripped the back of Altairs Yukata, clambering back up onto his back. The blood trickling from the scratches and wounds from the fray worried the foxling, he mewled and dabbed at them with one of his scarves.
"Y'okay, Glowbug? Everyone okay?" The Sprite asked, conjuring a display of aurora blues and greens to light the small group. He held the light for a moment before placing it 'in' his tail, the ball of fur acting like a makeshift nightlight. Hajna sighed, slowly wrapping the gauzy scarf, lightweight and comforting, around the small bleeding wounds before clambering down.
"All better, leave it to Medic Hajna." He nodded furiously before suddenly his ears perked. He heard something. The sound of more sprites maybe? A light ethereal breeze tousled his curls. He caught a scent, something sweet and familiar, frozen tundra and fresh snow. Something was enticing him from the group. He stood alert, behind the group, looking in the direction of the promise of open sky. The hallucination drove him wild, he glanced back over his shoulder at the group, patting at Altair's shoulder before mumbling into the thick of his remaining woolen scarf.
"H'smell more friends... I'll be right back!" Hajna looked again at Sorrel and gave him a thumbs up before sprinting off into darkness, small auroras bounding from his wake until he was swallowed in the forest.

The wolf child breathed unsteadily as the birds dispersed. His nails were scuffed and dirty, already scruffy hair disheveled and a mess thanks to clawing talons and flapping wings. A few feathers clung to him stubbornly but a quick shake off loosened them. That was it, they'd chased them off and managed to cleave through several. Even if the light bringer was stuffy he didn't deserve to have his eyes plucked out by sharp beaks.
"Peachy," Sorrel grumbled roughly, a bit of sarcasm detectable but he really was no worse for wear.
He nodded to the kitten, the giantess, and the light bringer in order, though the aurora's sudden shift caused him some confusion. The oil and dirt of the birds, the damp earth beneath their feet, and the sprawling wood had done well to mask the new scents but he was right, there were others -- and they were nearby. A wry grin replaced his curious glance at the fox's thumbs up directed at him specifically and he nodded the other sprite off. For someone who'd been so nervous before, he'd probably be fine; the other sprite was a cautious sort and he could smell danger, surely.
After that, Sorrel took little time in returning to Tomiko's side and offering her a hand. "He'll be back soon."

It all happened so fast -- one second they were making friends and playing games, and the next they were tired and dirty and injured (albeit only superficially it seemed, at least) and the group was one less in number. Fjorgyn stared at the spot where Hajna had disappeared into the woods with despair, then looked all around at the bird carcasses in a daze. Though she towered over the other sprites, her cringing posture made her seem the same size or even smaller. She couldn't help but feel guilty, since she was the one who had approached the very first bird. If Altair had gotten hurt, it would have been her fault.
Fjorgyn wanted to wait for Hajna, but at the same time she wanted to keep moving. Who knew if more birds would be coming their way. Fjorgyn waved at Altair to get his attention and pointed at the birds. "We should move," she said faintly. She gestured in the direction where Hajna had run. Perhaps if they walked in the same direction, then Hajna would still be able to find them on his way back.

THE MORE THE MERRIER As the group moved South, roots tried to make them trip while some hanging vines barely brushed against them in an attempt to hold them back, caress them and convince them that if they were to stay, it'd be okay. But the group did not stop there, and one step after the other, they crossed what later became a thick wall of trees behind them. Turning back to see what they now had in front of them, they were able to distinguish and realize that, effectively, there was another group of them in the same position as they were.
Both teams were now to become one.
Team A has successfully joined your party! Now go tackle those puzzles together!

It had been quiet before, but now an unsettling silence fell over the forest. Edel stiffened, recoiling further into herself as she wondered if she had done something wrong, said the wrong thing to anger whatever might be hiding in the trees. “U-Um…?” The spell broke as soon as it had fallen, and the creaking bark and frustrated mumbles made the sprite squeak and scurry behind the other two sprites as a haphazard form of protection. But there was no use in staying here; it was time to head south. So they did.
She lingered behind Xilles and Akira. Comforting as their presence were, she didn’t want to have any physical contact if she could avoid it. Tiny hands held fistfuls of her kimono as she stumbled over outstretched branches and ducked beneath dangling vines. The obtrusions weren’t enough to convince Edel to stop.
One hand clutched her chest at the sight of more familiar faces. “H-Hello! Um…” Her greeting started loud enough, but quickly died away as she smiled shyly.

"Hajna, wait!" But it was too late; the little aurora had bounded away. He shook his head and wiped the blood from above one eye. There was nothing else to do but go onward. The group was fine, shabby, but fine, although Altair noted Sorrel's proximity to Tomiko with a slight frown.
Instead, he turned to look at the giantess. "You're right, Fjorgyn. Although last time we followed your lead..." Altair chuckled and poked a feather with his staff. The sound of a twig snapping caused him to sharply look up, his pale eyes scanning the forest. And, suddenly, in the moment between heartbeats, he saw her. Pale as starlight shining dimly in this forest of blood: it was the girl, the one he had seen but never before spoken to. Her words, soft and hesitant, sounded like silk to his ears. Well, perhaps not silk, but it was certainly everything he'd been expecting.
"Ah, hello! You're from the nursery as well! I'm Altair." He walked closely up to her, the light from his orb casting her features into crazy shadows. He peered into her face briefly before leaning back and hmmming. "Do you want to travel with us? ...I feel like I know you."

Too much was happening at once, Sorrel took her hand again only for Hajna to bound off into the unknown. Why did he do that? That wasn't good! There were scary things out there, maybe even more birds that might want to take his light! Tomiko had to resist the urge to run after him and tell him that they all needed to stick together. But with Sorrel at her side once more, she scooted a little closer to him for comfort. Everyone seemed okay, of course Altair had more cuts and scrapes than everyone else since it was where the attack had been focused.
She wondered how Fjorgyn felt, did the crow betray them? She supposed they would never know. And with their group one short, they started moving as the giantess suggested. Which was when things started happening again. Except it wasn't really bad. Figures appeared through the trees. A total of three of them. One of which it seemed Altair knew. He got close to her and offered for them to travel with them. Should these people be trusted so easily? Maybe they were other sprites but why were they over there? Her grip tightened on Sorrel's hand before taking a few steps towards them. "Hello." She said quietly in response to the girl.
