[Shiftstar watched her deputy and warriors. She hadn't ever had such a competition, but as it was she was having great fun. First was Griffonsea. Her fish was considerable large. As it was, neither Ravenwing's nor Dragonfire's fish were as close. Looking at the fish on the ground beside her, Shiftstar could see the largest was about the size that Ravenwing had managed to drag out of the water. That wouldn't do. The leader stood and shook her pelt and strutted to the edge of the river.

Peering into the water, Shiftstar was able to spot many fish, but none to her liking. She waited a few moments, her eyes darting from fish to fish until she found one that she liked. She crouched down and held the muscles in her paw tense. Just a little closer...She shot her paw out, but she came up short. The momentum however was enough to flip the leader into the river. She yowled in surprise and fought to break the surface. Her head peeked up from the water and she paddled desperately to the bank. She pulled her self out, visibly embarrassed. She shook her pelt and sat for a moment.]

"The river is a tad chilly today. Wouldn't you say?" she asked, bending her head down and grooming her chest.

Silverstream was shocked by the question that Shiftstar had asked. "Well I guess I would, but I'm not sure if I'm ready." she answered." And yes, It is a bit cold for Greenleaf." said Silverstream. She stared into the river again. Hoping to find a big fish for her Clan. And then she spotted it. A giant shadow, looming in the water. She waited until it was in the right spot then she stuck her paw in the water but found it difficult to get the giant fish with only one paw. She stuck her other paw in and tried to lift it out of the water. She didn't succeed. She was getting frustrated. She finally jumped into the water and clamped the fish in her jaws and brought it out of the water. " Thank you StarClan." she murmerred. She laid the fish on the riverbank next to her other one.

[Dragonfire looked up from the fish caught so far in the competition to Ravenwing when he started talking to Griffonsea about something, she assumed it had to do with the competition. Curiously she watched him as he neared the river's edge, and then, with the grace of a fish, glided thought the water catching a large with with ease. One of her ears twitched slightly, she wished she could swim like that, but would never say it to his face, or any cats face for that matter. She often felt ashamed for being a poor swimmer among a clan known for swimming, especially now that she was deputy of that clan. It was kind of ironic in a way.]

[When the handsome tom winked at her she just blankly stared forward, she never really quite knew how to react to a cat Like Ravenwing. If he was insulting she could just claws him apart, but he seemed more... smooth than that. She rolled her eyes and muttered under her breath when he spoke his nonsensical romance once again, like he did with all the other she cats.]

"I bet you have a heart for every she cat Ravenwing... with so many im surprised you don't have more lives."

[From the corner of her eye she could see Silverstream cat her own fish after a whiles wait. She smiled, feeling glad for the she cat. There would be plenty of fresh fish for Seaclan tonight.]

Should we wrap this up soon people?

[Ravenwing put on a hurt expression when Dragonfire questioned if he had a heart for every she-cat he met, and why he didn't have more lives. Ouch, but definitely something he would expect from the fiery she-cat. Was she questioning his charming skills? Hah, he would show her that his charms were unmatched by any tom among all four clans! "Oh no my dear, a heart I have only one, but the love I have to offer is infinite." He purred, purposely twining his tail with hers. "Ever since the moment your paws grasped me in the river, I have been stunned by the fire that burns within those hazel orbs of yours. An undying, inextinguishable flame indeed my dear." He dipped his head down and whispered softly into her ear, his tail still intertwined with hers. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Silverstream pulling a fish out of the water. Seaclan would definitely have a lot of fresh kill tonight, the only thing they had to be careful of was not to overfish and empty the whole river.]

(( yeah lets start to have them head back. :3 ))

[Dragonfire rolled her eyes when he made his "hurt" face. She had seen it often when they talked, he never could seem to keep his paw out of the fire, no matter how often he got burned, it was a miracle that he had yet to get a single scratch on him from their encounters. The black tom started to speak again, something about their meeting at the river, yeah, bet i made a fool of my self there if it was at the river, and her eyes. The she cat let out an arrogant snort as she turned her head away from him, trying to ignore him, but Ravenwing was not a cat easily ignored. Because she had turned the other way Dragonfire did not expect the feel his tail warp around her own. Being the claw (trigger) happy warrior she was she jolted up and swiped a paw at him, eyes fierce.]

"CRIKEY mate don't touch me when im ingnoring you! though you were a snake! Quite messn' round and lets get this fish back to the clan. I bet some grumpy elder is already complaining about how she could have been back by now even with a bad hip."

[Picking up a mouthful of fish she then began to lead the way back to camp at a brisk pace and her head held high.]

"It takes courage,
To grow up and become who you really are"

[Shiftstar turned her gaze to Ravenwing whom seemed to be, once again, harassing Dragonfire. The tom never knew when to quit. Whether it be Lavenderstar, or a young warrior, no she-cat escaped his flirtatious ways. All but her that was. She was rather thankful that she had stopped his first attempts when they were younger. The tom hadn't tried anything since.]

"Ravenwing." she warned, giving him one of her unblinking stares.

[The embarrassment she had experienced had been replaced by annoyance, which in a way she was grateful for. She padded to the black warrior and decided to turn his own game against him. Getting close she brushed herself against him before circling Ravenwing, whom had been left by Dragonfire.]

"Dragonfire is right, perhaps you should have extra lives." she purred, stopping beside him, "Then we could spend all of them together."

[With that she picked up the three fish she had caught during her stay at the river and nodded to the others present. She turned to the relative direction of the camp and began to follow her deputy home.]

Lost and found
forsake me now
or let me return home!

[Griffonsea flicked her ears, turning to fish farther down the river. Her friends were silly, but she was serious about winning! She would beat Dragonfire!
She dipped her paw in the river gently, feeling the cool water caress her pads, then stepped back, lowering herself to watch the river with sharp blue eyes.
A shadow twitched in the shimmering current, darting to the sides where water herbs grew, probably snapping at the bugs that sheltered there. Griffonsea's eyes dialated and her concentration was at its highest. Ever so gently, she twitched her paw, raising it. The fish sensed the vibration and darted away, startled.
Her eyes darted with it, following its trail back into the river, when her eye caught a much, much bigger shape in the water.
The fish hesitated after seeing its companion flee upriver. After a few moments, it continued its course downriver, searching for food, its silvery scales glittering in the sun.
Dear StarClan it's a trout, Griffonsea thought with shock. A really really big trout. Oh what do I do, what do I do, I never caught a trout before!

But she narrowed her eyes in a determined way, coming closer to the river. The trout was still a few cat-lengths up stream, nudging at the rocks to find food. She watched it as it slowly made its way towards her. Her shadow stretched behind her across the rock, out of sight from the giant fish.
NOW!
She darted into the water, slapping the fish down from above. She lunged forward, clamping her teeth down on the first bit of flesh she could catch.
The fish immediately thrashed, struggling to break free. Griffonsea slipped and slid with it, realizing quickly that wherever she had gotten hold on it was not its back or its neck; she'd have to drag it out of the water or she could drown herself trying!
She struggled forward, wide eyes spotting the shore. The fish tugged and pulled, flailing with powerful thrusts, and the river pushed her downriver.
Thank StarClan it's not as powerful as it is during the rainy days, she thought quickly. I'd be a goner if this current were too strong!
She tugged and pulled, padded and struggled, dipped and dove until her muscles screamed with effort. But ultimately, thankfully, finally she made it-she was out of the river.
She struggled to pull the trout as far from the water as possible, setting him aside, and delivered a killing bite. Even then, the fish still twitched, eyes wide and mouth gaping for water.
Finally, though, it died, falling limp with only one more twitch before it passed on.

She sat there panting, eyes wide, and coughed a bit hastily. Her ginger pelt was streaming with water. She looked like a half-drowned cat (and perhaps she was! ), but it was worth it- she had caught a trout!
Her previous fish seemed tiny next to this prize. She'd caught a loach and a gar, which remained where she had left them with the others. She lugged her catch with her, purring proudly.]
"Wrait fhr mehr evryhne!" she called in a muffled voice."Eh caght eh bhg urhne!"
[She struggled after the others, tripping a few times as they made their way back to camp. I'm gonna have to make two trips to get the others! she thought excitedly, tail sticking straight in the air.]

(( in actuality, this thing isn't anything like, say, a King Trout, but it's probably around the size of a brook trout, perhaps a bit bigger. :3 ))

I want to stay free
so bring to me
the endless spray of foam!

Perhaps I'll defeat your fiery flames
or lose myself among the fray.

Silverstream watched Shifstar pad off and turned her gaze towards Griffonsea. She picked up her own catch and padded towards her. "Gmeath cmatth she commented. She tried to keep up with the other but she couldn't so she just decided to stay with Griffonsea. "Fifthar fhinks I nheed an aprfrhnmis." she said. But her words were muffled by the fish.

xxxLet's move. . .
══════σиward, forωαяם... but ℓιgнтℓч════════════════

[Lotuspaw skidded to a halt, her paws almost taking her straight into the river. The brilliance of it all was too much, Lotuspaw felt her eyes flutter closed almost of their own accord. The lightest of mists caressed her face and Lotuspaw drew in a deep breath. Even if she hadn't yet formally been taught how to swim, Lotuspaw knew that she could. It was in her blood after all, her body would know what to do. Right? But something inside her pulled back, her yellow gaze raked over the river hungrily. Instead she waited for Silverstream, who she'd lost in all the excitement. As an apprentice, especially a newly appointed one, it was foolish of her to launch herself into the territory without her mentor by her side. Guilt burned her ears and she thought of how Silverstream could be reprimanded for her silly mistakes. And yet the urge to throw herself into the river with reckless abandon still lurked. Okay, perhaps she could indulge a little. Dipping a ginger spotted paw into the river, Lotuspaw marvelled at how cool it felt. She watched as the current tugged at her paw, urging another paw in and another until the water lapped at her flanks. Lotuspaw felt warm and tingly all over no matter how deliciously cool the river was.]

[The rest of the patrol couldn't be too far behind now. With a sigh, Lotuspaw began to clamber out clumsily. Digging her two front paws into the gravel and dirt beside the river, Lotuspaw tugged. It was harder than it should've been but at the time, Lotuspaw hadn't accounted for the weight of her wet fur. Determination clawed at her belly and Lotuspaw just ground her teeth and began to pull herself out. Her tail and behind still remained submerged but one fierce pull would do it. Gathering all her strength, Lotuspaw prepared for the giant tug. But suddenly Lotuspaw felt a slimy something flit between her feet. She hissed in shock and felt her legs rush out from beneath her. The current that had seemed so friendly pulled her beneath the waters. Dark crimson quickly began to edge her vision and Lotuspaw screeched in pure terror. She'd done it without thinking and now her mouth was filling with water rather than the life preserving oxygen she so desperately needed. Pawing furiously to what she hoped was the surface, Lotuspaw blinked away the water to see that she was only a few tail-lengths away from where she started. Everything became a little easier but she still felt the insistent tug of the current. With a loud whimper she pawed even more furiously to keep her head above the water line. With time her muscles moved fluently but fear still gnawed at her.]
"Griffonsea! Silverstream! Lostpaw?" [she called out nervously, bobbing near the edge of the river where she could swim more easily. "Help?" [Lotuspaw called out weakly.]

Silverstream raced to the river. "Lotuspaw? Lotuspaw where are you!" she cried. "She couldn't have gone far" thought Silverstream "I was right behind her" She looked around wildly for her. Then, she spotted her. "Lotuspaw!" she mewed She dove into the river and swam towards her. The river was stronger now than it had been this morning. It could easily carry off Lotuspaw. Her paws churning in the icy water she swam with all her might to the drowning apprentice. She dove down and latched her teeth into Lotuspaw's scruff. She was now swimming for their lives. With her last ounce of energy she swam to the bank and dropped Lotuspaw. Silverstream's chest was heaving but before she could get to dry land a large branch came down the stream and knocked her off her paws. Silverstream yowled as the branch swept her downstream.

[OCC: where does the river lead to and can someone please help her?]

[Lostpaw pelted ahead, he had been hard on Lotuspaw's heels for most of the run, but he had fallen behind. The small white apprentice came dashing through the undergrowth to the bank of the river. It was mesmerizing and terrifying. The powerful blue-green water rushed through the ground, looking like a huge claw had come and gouged out the land, forming the river. That was when he heard the faint, yet unmistakable cry of Lotuspaw. Whipping his head around, Lostpaw saw his sister being swept down the river. His eyes growing wide with horror, the SeaClan apprentice took a pace back, shaking his head.]

"Lotuspaw!" [Before he realized what was happening, Lostpaw had shrieked his sister's name and launched himself off the ledge he was standing on. For an instant there was only air beneath his paws, and then... there was water! The current came crashing over his head, driving the air from his lungs. He instinctively opened his mouth to draw in air, but instead, water rushed in. It filled his ears, mouth, and nose; cutting off his senses. The white apprenticed gagged, unable to cry out and unable to breathe. In mere heartbeats his vision was edge with red and was becoming blotchy.]

[Gagging on the water, Lostpaw kicked out, trying to swim. His head finally broke the surface, gasping in a lungful of air he let out a blood curdling shriek, trying to get someone's attention. He also had to save Lotuspaw! Little did he know, Silverstream had already taken care of that job. His legs felt weak and numb, but he had to keep swimming! Exhausting filled his numb limbs and the cold sliced through his pelt, making him heavy and dragging him under once more. It felt as though the end were coming. Black now wreathed his vision as the water dragged him under, the last of his precious air escaping from his aching lungs. 'Someone, help me!' Lostpaw wailed inwardly, his eyes rolling back in his head.]

══════σиward, forωαяם... but ℓιgнтℓч════════════════

[With Silverstream's strong hold on her scruff Lotuspaw found that it had become easier to swim. With the warrior supporting most of her weight, Lotuspaw was able to catch her breath,at least for now. However with the added weight of the now flailing warrior, they were both being carried swiftly down river. Heaving deep breaths, Lotuspaw felt her belly twist in fear once more. She was going to die, and take this stunning warrior with her! She couldn't let that happen! Just when she was about to kick away the warrior, who she knew could do just fine swimming on her own, an earsplitting cry struck her heart.]
Lostpaw!

[Lotuspaw thrashed wildly, fear driving away shock. With a fierce kick, Lotuspaw sped away from Silverstream.] "Silverstream, swim! Please!" [she begged, not knowing if the she-cat could do it. But her worst fears were happening right now. Lostpaw was drowning and it was all her fault! She couldn't let that happen. She would save him, even if it cost her her own life. Lotuspaw had been propelled by the kick, much closer to Lostpaw now. For a moment, Lotuspaw thought of how far down Silverstream was after that kick. It had probably sent her tumbling under but she was a warrior! She would pull through. She had to. Kicking with all her might, Lotuspaw made her way to the familiar white-pelt.]

"Lostpaw! Don't do this, fight! I'm here, please!" [She screeched savagely. She couldn't let him die. Lotuspaw watched dismayed as she took in the ghastly sight of him. Soaked to the very core, mismatched eyes wide with a fear he probably hadn't known existed until this very moment. Grabbing his scruff, she kicked for all she was worth. Somehow she felt strangely calm. She was ice and she wouldn't melt under the pressure. Her limbs were shaking with unbearable cold, but Lotuspaw was stronger than Lostpaw. She would assure his safety. Exhaustion pulled at her limbs as the little progress took them closer to the shallow edge of the river, out of the current. Something clicked in her head then. A decision, but she'd already made her choice.]

[With the same move as before, she kicked away the smaller body, hoping against hope that he would tumble to the much safer shallows.]
"Listen Lostpaw. Go get help, you'll do no good in your own state. Get.. Freezeshadow. Ravenwing. Griffonsea, anyone. I believe in you brother." [Lotuspaw breathed a moment before getting pulled back downstream. The water closed above her head, but Lotuspaw felt strangely content. Blackness enveloped her vision and Lotuspaw gladly welcomed it.]

[It was as though something had suddenly snapped in Lostpaw. He heard Lotuspaw's screech, though, it sounded distant and muffled. She was saving his life, but at the cost of her own? This knowledge was enough to force the white apprentice to draw in a massive breath of air. And then a sharp kick in his side sent him careening into the shallow end of the river. His paws touched the slick and smooth pebbles. He scrabbled in the shallow water for a moment, hearing Lotuspaw's words. It was up to him. He had to hurry, or Silverstream and Lotuspaw were going to drown! His sister would die and it would be all his fault! Though most of his strength had been stolen by the river's freezing current, Lostpaw made himself stand, scrambling up the bank, and take off into the forest. He didn't look back, he couldn't.]

[His vision was blurring as he raced though the territory, pelting towards camp. He had to find Ravenwing, Griffonsea, Freezeshadow, anyone! The sent of camp struck him right as he thought he wouldn't make it! he had to notify the warriors!]

Tenderfoot
°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø

Tenderfoot focused strictly on keeping her breathing level as she came into view of the river. She ran downstream, yowling her arrival, "Silverstream! Lotuspaw! Where are you?!" Her yowls continued in a chant as she peered into the water next to her, still running. Tenderfoot's thought's fought between how cold the water would be and the lives at stake. Seaclan couldn't risk more of a lost, Tenderfoot may be ignorant about most things, but when it comes to her clan, she would do ANYTHING.]

[A dark shadow snapped her mind out of it's battle. Impulsively, she dove in from the side, breaking the water's rough surface with her front paws before she plunged under the freezing water. It stiffened her joints almost instantly, how she hated that feeling. She opened her emerald eyes under the water, holding her breath while she paddled furiously. The small figure of the newly apprentice she-cat coming into view, Lotuspaw. Tenderfoot struggled to hold her breath for much longer, despite all of the training exercises. She cringed before she broke the surface with her head, gasping for air as she blinked the water out of her eyes.]

[Tenderfoot knew that she wouldn't be strong enough to bring the warrior back to the shore alone. If she was going to prove to her clan that she was more than just looks, maybe she could get a cool reward or something. Thoughts aside, Tenderfoot dove back under the water, swimming like a fish with the current as she bit down on Lotuspaw's scruff. She accidentally bit down a tad harder than she wanted to(hope you don't mind<333). The first swimming lesson in Seaclan training wasn't to swim against the current, rather swim to the side, to the shore, then walk upstream.

[That is exactly what Tenderfoot did. She swam sideways, struggling with the new weight on her maw as she scraped at the stones of the riverbed for support in moving. The pretty warrior struggled to keep her head above the water and ended up snorting a lovely amount of water up her nose just as she found a proper grip on the river's floor. Oh how badly she wanted to open her maw and rant her distaste for such things but she refused. To be completely frank, she was already growing quite tired with the added weight, though she refused to give up. For once in her life, she wanted to be the beautiful heroine, not the damsel in distress! Using most of her remaining energy she shoved off of the stone which had held her in place, shooting herself towards the shore. Words filled her mind, Shore, ground, dirt, grass, safe Tenderfoot focused strictly on the word safe as she forced her limbs to paddle.

[Tenderfoot nearly fainted when she felt her paws brush against the ground of the riverbed, meaning the water was getting shallower and less rough. The apprentice seemed to still be unconscious hanging Tenderfoot's maw. The walk back to shore was relieving for Tenderfoot, relieving enough that she simply dropped Lotuspaw on the grass with a 'plop' and spent the next few moments sneezing out water. and gasping for air before she fell to her side, proud with herself. "Never..... again...." was all she hissed, trying to regain her cover as 'The almighty Tenderfoot'. She was too tired to even remember that Silverstream was still out there.]

ѻut ѻf oconuts: Tenderfoot did her good deed for the chapter. If you guys want me to change anything, jus' tell me. <3

Silverstream paddled furiously as she was swept downstream. Her paws were churning but it wasn't doing much good. She kept on yelling, "HELP!" but she wasn't sure that anyone had heard her. She was getting farther and farther from where she had last seen Lotuspaw. She wondered if she was all right. Maybe the other patrol had found her. But she was almost at the ocean. The rushing torrents filled the air. She had to get out, Now! Using her last ounce of energy she swam to a shallow part in the water. She ws exhausted but she had to get to higher ground. She dragged herself into the forest.

[OCC: where does the river lead to and can someone please help her?]
