Running slowly threw the tunnel, it was clear that he was still suffering from being cooped up in class. His speed and dex could use a lot of work, and to be honest more energy was hard to earn. Stopping for a moment, jeff slid to a stop before looking around. He was also being careful. He was looking around and even up, so Fran’s would not get the jump on him… or anything else. It was clear that they were hunting a monster, with no sight so he had to be really quiet now. A sound or movement could give himself away now, thankfully he was very good at keeping quiet.
In the tunnel, about a quarter mile from the entrance, there was a group of flan milling about. These seemed to be some of the slowest moving ones compared to the other flan previously encountered. They did not hear the approach of the humans into the tunnels, so Jeff's attempt at stealth would be met with success.
The railway itself was dark, with only the emergency lights blinking and flashing off and on rhythmically. The faint drip of some sweating pipe and the occasional chattering of rats. There was a quiet, or perhaps distant sound. It had no rhythm, not like the drips and rats, or the groan of pipes. They were sharp sounds. Sometimes in a flurry, and sometimes spaced apart. The sounds echoed in the tunnel but the sounds themselves seemed very distant.

As jeff looked around, the first sign of enemies were two fran’s. A small team but he could take them both on at once, he had taken out one already. But they were slower than the normal one’s too, making Jeff wonder what their other ability they had. Regardless he charged for the closest one to him, His plan was to see if he could grab one and start doing damage. But if he was unable to grab and be attacked by any magical attacks… he was going to enjoy taking them down. Looking back for a split second before jumping, Jeff got his body ready. The strain on his body was intense, but if he could grab the fran… He was going to take them both out.

When he charged and grabbed the flan, its buddy turned in the direction of the events. Blinking as a slimy drool dripped from its mouth. The First flan turned to see what was coming at it, giving a gurgling screech as Jeff tried to grab it. They were slippery, to be sure, but not as slippery or gooey as the previous flan the boy fought. They had been in the cool, dry air of the tunnel, not out in the hot sweaty day. Needless to say the boy's grip was much more effective on this gelatinous creature than the last.
Though the flan did get caught off guard it wasn't so surprised as not to retaliate! Stretching its long slimy tendril, it tried to smack Jeffery in the face of the short boy.
The distant sounds even the instructor could not quite hear all to well, they were pretty erratic still, giving her a hunch that it may have something to do with the two missing scouts. She, naturally, kept this to herself for now and instead turned her attention to the little boy. (A grappler, hm? Interesting.)
Quistis had stayed back to observe the boy's skills before giving a nod to herself and stepping into the fray. Stepping around to the side, leaving the first flan to Jeffery, she smacks out her whip at the second flan. It made an echoing cracking sound in the air. "Good job! Keep in mind they are a slippery species, you may not be able to hold on for long, if you do manage to get a hold of them!"

Finally grabbing on to one of them, jeff had already known that they were going to be sticky and slimy. But even so, he was going to enjoy battling this one alone. Seeing that its attack was to his face, jeff raised his arm up to block it. Remarkably it worked almost effectively, his arm didn’t take a lot of damage, but it was bruised slightly from the attack. Balling his hand into a fist, he gathered his strength into an attack before he threw the punch at the fran’s face. This was a move he remembered all too well, it got his arm bit for abit. Regardless he smiled, he outfit was slightly torn from the attack… but his outfit had seen worse attacks.

Jumping back from the fran and staring at it for a moment, Jeff seemed surprised that the fran was not attacking him again. So he took the time to start collecting himself and his strength, he was gathering it for the last combo he wanted to do. A waste it maybe, but he was going to see if he could at least test it out like this. After gathering enough energy within his body, jeff charged at the fran with full force. Throwing punches and kicks as the fran, the first kick seemed to tear straight through the fran’s body. But then again so did the other three punches, this was taking chunks out of the fran.

Watched the grappler kid as he fought the one Flan, the boy was pretty fast, but erratic and it showed. Quistis shook her head turning towards her Flan enemy who was just standing there, still Stupified as it watched the battle with the boy and its kin. Quistis lashed out her whip, it made an echoing crack as it thrashed the flan in front of her. "Anachide! Don't lag too far behind!" She called out to Harriet. Turning to look over her shoulder as the girl brought up the rear of their party.

OOC: I'm thinking from now on the die option for the monster's saving throws should be displayed here. The die roll applies to the monster's next posting phase. Since the monsters are not on a turn that belongs to a PC anyway.
Also, we are going to test out the 'Marking' turn based battle system here. Harriet is the Mark.
Just as a reminder of what I'm talking about:
Quote:
"There is going to be one person, NPC, or group of monsters that are 'Marked'. The marked individual is the 'leader' of the match. Everyone posts once before this person posts. But it doesn't matter what order everyone posts in, just so they post once before the 'Mark' posts.
This is similar to the game itself where the characters' initiative was never the same. Sometimes Irvine would be ready to attack before Zell in one turn, but was ready after him the second, and so forth. But everyone was able to get their turn off before the monster. Most of the time. This is the same concept. When fighting NPC's or monsters, they are naturally 'Marked', and everyone posts once before they get to act.
How would this work in PVP?
Well lets say this, Seymour is in a party with Senna and Rory, and they are fighting Squall, Seifer, and Zell. Seymour is the Mark. So everyone, including Seymour's party, post before Seymour for every round. Once Seymour posts, the round continues. But again, its loose in this way. If Rory posted after Seymour the first round, he could post after Zell the second round without disrupting the flow of the battle. "

Enter Harriet from Balamb Station.
Harriet was not surprised to hear a ruckus ahead in the tunnel. Although she didn't find it surprising either. In fact, she didn't have any particular thoughts about it at all. It seemed a given at this point that they would be doubtless fighting more Flan as they continued towards the blonde instructor's supposed source of the manky little monsters.
Although she had followed along keeping relatively the same pace as those ahead of her, there was an unavoidably noticeable slow shuffling nature to her stride. Like she were being animated step by step by a one-handed puppeteer with a limited number of strings. Like sleepwalking, only faster. And to look at the face half hidden by that platinum fringe, one wouldn't assume it was because she was distracted in thought. Harriet's eyes were firmly fixed on an angle the floor, her head slightly off-kilter as though she simply weren't consciously present.
Despite this distant vacancy, her senses were rapt from years of brutal training and repetition, even if she wasn't really fully aware of them. She could hear the sound of lights flickering, the footsteps echoing, her teammates breath in the thick cool air, her own heart beating, the squelching sound of a gelatinous mass moving across the...
She perked up a little, her head rising and turning like a wild animal's so that she could hear better and her right hand moving to the handle of her sword as her left slipped the scabbard free. Seelen Schlaeger arced down in front of her, the long blade glinting in the light. The manky animal boy had run off ahead, and the blonde instructor soon hurried after him. Harriet continued her dull pace, her body slowly awaking up to fight, warming up from the cool hibernation of passive existence.
"Anachide! Don't lag too far behind!"
Harriet was already way ahead of her, hoisting the Claymore with both hands overhead, the golden duck charm dancing from its anchor in the hilt. She exhaled and brought her arms down, swinging the blade in a figure 8 before her and channeling her life's energy through it to create a violent vortex. "Glorreichen Mahlstrom!" She said through gritted teeth, using the words her uncle had taught her for her father's technique, before executing a spin and striking the creation with her sword, sending it towards the Flan.

Feeling that the wrath did its job way too well, jeff sighed as he let himself cool down for a moment before balling his hand into a fist. Pulling it back and aiming at the fran’s face, he could feel a third person arriving. This was good considering in the slight pause, he felt more were coming soon. Looking back at the fran, the sentinel child delivered one final attack to the fran. It was more than powerful enough to finish the fran off, looking back at the group for a moment before he made his mind up. Dropping into one knee, he started to focus. He was healing himself in the way the chocobo’s did, he was resting and preparing for the next battle.
