Twelve year old Aoyagi Ritsuka hasn't had the best of days...
a week after telling Ritsuka his real name "Beloved", Ritsuka's older brother Aoyagi Seimei, Dies.
Ritsuka then enters a new school, just after his first day Ritsuka meets Agastuma Soubi, whom claims to be Seimei's friend and knows whom killed Ritsuka's brother and is the only one who can kill them for Ritsuka.
Agreeing to become Soubi's "Sacrifice" Ritsuka is thrust into an odd game in which spells are words and words are power.
