_______________ Aвσuт

It had been many years since Nirvani Island had seen it's first downfall through a natural disaster – a hurricane that wrecked it to pieces. Many more years since a man was forced out of his penthouse to mend the island back to it's original state. Nirvani Island, once empty of people and life, now flourished with a constant flow of families, people marrying, giving birth, finding jobs and dreams on the little patch of land floating in the midst of the deep blue ocean. There were plenty of ups and downs – murders, kidnappings, and so many more horrors that the once native people would never have understood, let alone committed, but this was a new world with even newer people to fill in the empty spaces left behind by the ones who abandoned them. It was proven even more when the two who had brought Nirvani Island back to it's feet perished due to age and disease, leaving it without a leader or guidance – yet, it still continued to grow and survive despite it. The island was stable once more and there was nothing else to worry on when, in fact, the island was seeing more people than it had in it's whole lifetime!

But, what does a hunk of land have to do with that? The island never cared for who was treading on it's soil and, probably, it would have been just as content with nothing but the trees and the rivers to keep it company – the one's who did, who dedicated their life and efforts into giving food, warmth, wealth, inspiration, mineral, water, light, and safety – the ones who continued their tireless work even alone as they were.. They were the ones who sat by their places daily, weekly, yearly, watching and waiting, hoping to be shown the mortals who they were tasked to tend to. Some wanted thanks, others a gift, while all simply wished to see their followers beyond a reflection – to nurture and aid them, for nothing is harder on a creature than to be denied the very thing they were birthed to do. Despite the many newcomers to the island and it returning to it's former glory, the fairies and guardians of the isle never saw a change in their daily lives. Deep in the forest, none had tread, and atop the mountain, none had scaled – it was as if everyone was still gone to a far off land, leaving them alone with a sleeping Goddess and a pointlessly eternal existence.

Before the Goddess could turn in her slumber, however, the fairies had come to a new conclusion amidst their depression. Why was it that they were the givers of gifts? Why was it that they were to watch overs ones who hardly gave them a moment out of their lives? The fairies had done everything in their power, never resting in their work, to give the mortals the things they desired – a mine full of gems, clean, bountiful waters, fertile lands, warmth, light, and so much more! They watched over their children, advised them with their wisdom, and spent centuries understanding and forgiving every fault – believing these lesser creatures were worth a second chance after the Goddess had given them her wrath! Yet they were never given a sign that the people even cared. Sure, there had been a mortal here and there who would arrive, but of all the people who had come and left the island – who had stayed to raise families and flourish in business – less than a handful had bothered to come. With no Goddess to comfort them – the deity was in much too sour a mood to do so anyway – and no follower to console them, the fairies have begun to lose faith in the people. Arguments have begun to fester between the magical beings as a result, creating a tension that can be felt by the land itself with each passing day. Crops have begun to wither more and more, the winter feeling harsher, and fish simply disappearing from the streams.. The fairies themselves have begun to act up as well with mysterious happenings rampant throughout the island – some good, some bad, but, one thing is certain – if the attention they crave isn't put to rest soon, the island will return to it's once desolate state.
