Welcome to the Mataki Ranges, a vast expanse of land dotted with a few copses dotting the otherwise flat, rolling fields. This area is home to the Mataki, a marsupial (that's pouched mammal, folks!) in close relation to the kangaroo and wallabies of Australia.

But how did you get here? Perhaps you've stumbled upon this place whil you were hiking the surrounding mountains and forests. Or maybe you came here deliberately. Why don't you come inside the ranch house and explain everything...

1) What I say is law. LAW DANGIT. As owner of the thread, I make the laws here,so please obey them. Don't worry, I'm not a dictator; I find myself to be a benevolent despot.

2) No arguing. Not with me espcecially, and not with each other. I don't want needless fighting in my thread. If you have to fight, take it to PMs and handle it yourself. THE EXCEPTION: if you have a problem with me, and you believe I'm being unfair, please let me know-- IN A PM. No use cluttering the thread. but I warn you-- be diplomatic and fair about it or I will simply ignore you.

3) No chatspeak. I hate 1337 and I hate people who use "u" and "r" when it ttakes hardly any extra effort to type out the whole word. Please be coherant here or I shall EET your face. stare

4) Do not ask me about avalibility. Check the events/availibility section.

5) Do not PM me spam. ARG. Oh, and do not PM me asking for a Mataki when there are no events going on. You will be greylisted. Possibly blacklisted. EXEPTION: If there are certain events or custom slots open, then PM as directed.

6) Do not PM owners asking for thei Mataki or their young from a breeding. If I find out about this, you will be BLACKLISTED. No warnings.

Pouch: The pouch your Mataki starts out in! Inside the baby is developing and growing, so make sure to be extremely careful with this pouch! The joeys are very fragile since they are still developing and forming, and so make sure to be gentle and don't shirk on the tender, loving care!

Child: Congratulations! Your Mataki has emerged from the pouch healthy and is now a beautiful bouncing baby. Quite literally, too. Mataki at this stage are ever inquisitive and love to explore and get into everything they can get their paws on. They can leap fairly high at this stage, and love to experiment with climbing around.

Adult: Your Mataki has gone from a fluffy and chubby little joey to a lean adult. At this stage, they have better control over their muscular legs, and are able to leap fairly far, both distance-wise and height-wise. They are highly intuitive and fairly brilliant; so don't talk down to them! They view themselves as adults of society and being treated as anything else is an insult! They continue the play-boxing they developed as a joey, now turning it to a treasured pastime used not only as fun, but in more serious situation to establish rank, status, and settle disputes. But since their paws are still ever-fluffy and downy, no real damage is ever inflicted. Adults are more relaxed and laid-back then the young joeys, and are content to follow their foster parents around. they are now ready at this age to breed and seek out a mate. Aw, how sweet!

GOLDLIST: The good list for those who have been real sweets to me, have donated, or are just really nifty people. This is the list you should all strive to be on.

GREYLIST: Oooh, you did something bad, or something to annoy me. Perhaps it wasn't your fault-- maybe you just had an off-day. But you have been warned, my friend. Depending on you offense, you may be just wanred, or you may be barred from the next event.

BLACKLIST: Hoo boy, you really crewed up this time. You have either repeatedly broked the rules (or just broke one big one) or seriously pissed me off! There's no coming off this list, and you'll lose a lot by getting here. Let's hope this never happens.

Events/Availability</center>

Events come in four flavors, baby! The typical flatsales, auctions for the special ones, raffles, and Special Events.

Flatsales: Flatsales are either speed-based of prompt-based. They can happen without any warning, though I usually give 24 hours notice at the least. The VERY least. if there's a sale, you'll know about it.

Auctions: Auctions also happen generally unannounced, but they also run for longer than flatsales and are handled differently. they have their own sets of rules, such as the fact I only accept items at mid-SIN value.

Raffles: Raffles you may have more notice of for some reason. You will buy tickets, I'll fill in your name with the corresponding slots, and then a random winner will be chosen thanks to randomizer.org. tickets are inexpensive, costing only 100g-200g, sometimes even less!

Special Events: Generally of the RP breed, they test your skills in a constructive and creative way. Sometimes it may be a scavenger hunt or a "make me laugh" contest. They spring up without any warning, and are usually great fun to enter!

This is where all the information for the flatsale will be held. This includes rules, pouches up for adoption, and any other info I decide to put here.

1) ONLY START WHEN I SAY "GO"! Any orders posted before I say go in BIG RED letters, not before. Any orders posted before will be ignored.

2) After I post GO, you must fill out the order form and post it as a part of your order. Anything not following the form will be ignored.

3) First come, first serve. Later on, I may have RP-based ones, but this baby's a speed-based.

4) No fighting. I shall be the judge of who gets what.

5) The examples are uncerted, but once I confirm your order and trade, I shall cert them up and post them in the pickup window.

Breeding

There comes a time in most every Mataki's life when they find that "special someone" they'd wish to have a family with. Now, the Mataki are a monogamous mammal, which means they have only one mate for life. It can't be a fleeting emotion; it has to be serious love for them to be able to breed. After some courting and play together, if two Mataki decide they love each other, then they may decide they want to breed and have a family, once they come of age (if they aren't already, that is).

Now, sometimes the two 'taki will visit the breeding center in the Facility or perhaps they may even follow feral instincts and disappear to the wild and dig a den for their brood there. Whatever the case, a Mataki cannot reproduce young without the help of the Facility. So when your 'taki are ready to breed, chase them down and bring them in and we can help them start a family.

Due to the Mataki's reproduction problems, we take the appropriate genetic makeup from each parent and place them together in an artificial sort of "bio-pouch" and let the baby develop from there. However, due to the delicate process involved, the Facility often keeps the pouch and the mother in custody for a few days, just to assure everyone is healthy and good. After that, you're left with the pouch to care for and look after until the joey or joeys are ready to emerge. Now sometimes, the pouch will not take on the color of the young inside, but rather the coloration of the parent Mataki regardless of the young within. This usually signals a multiple birth. In such a case, a process is underwent that separates the multiple young, giving each one it's own pouch to grow in to prevent cramping and other problems that could arise.

Mataki are known to generally have one or two babies, but it is certainly not uncommon for them to have three, or even four. Healthy broods never exceed more than four joeys, however, making the typical yield of a breeding 1-4 joeys.

Breeding costs 3k-1.5k from each owner. Now, you may each (assuming there are two different owners) split the orbs, or you may sell them back to the Facility at a rate of 1k per orb to be adopted out to new owners. You may NOT sell them to anyone else, but you may auction them off or give them to a friend. However, do remember that if you do auction them, we get 50% of the profits; it isn't fair that we do all the work and you make off with all the money so we are entitled to our fair share. I'm sure this goes without saying but anyone caught selling or auctioning off Mataki illegally will be blacklisted and will lose not only their Mataki, but it's babies as well.

If you happen to be a single owner, breeding will be still be 3k, but I'm afraid you'll have to pay it all on your own. I'm sorry, but the higher rate is to discourage single-owner breeding and to branch out to other owners. The same rules apply for selling/auctioning surplus orbs, and the same penalties for breaking the rules apply. Phew, with that said, here's the Breeding FAQ to sum anything else up:

Q: -grabs a Mataki of the opposite gender- Okay, here's my mate, how do we breed?
A: No. Just...no. You have to RP your Mataki falling in love and becoming mates. If I happen to see that an owner is in for breeding simply for profit or just the sake of breeding, we reserve the right to deny any offers.

Q: What's your stance on...er...homosexuality?
A: Tricky question...but I suppose two 'taki of the same gender can breed. Due to the process undergone in the labs, the genetic makeup that is extracted from the parents and mixed can come from two parents of the same gender (providing they have DNA and genes, which I'm sure every one does). Just because the process through which this is done will be slightly different doesn't mean it can't happen.

Q: So that means Mataki can be GAY? Ewwww.
A: Whoa, whoa, whoa...Ew? I'm a firm believer in the theory that love is purely emotional and shouldn't be restricted to physical vessels. It doesn't mean there'll be a gay cult roaming the plains, so chill. Or get out of my shop. -hisses- *ahem* Yes, they can be gay because since they can experience strong emotions nearly on par with a human, they can fall in love not only with the opposite gender (the act of which is exhibited in lower creatures as an instinctive behavior to keep up population). If indeed they fancy someone who is like them in gender, there is nothing stating that they can't love them. Love is love, yo.

Q: 3k to breed? Isn't that pricey?
A: Hm, not really. It's only 1.5k from each owner and it isn't that big of a bill, really. It's actually 500g less than the flatsale rate, and you get multiple babies in some cases so it's a steal, really.

Q: WTF? 3k for single owners? What gives?
A: The price tag, as was designated, is to discourage single-owner breeding. I'm not lowering the rate just because you're a single owner that wants to breed your 'taki. It costs the same (cumulatively) for all. We want you all to branch out, meet other owners and have full, diverse litters; we don't like the idea of one owner acquiring a bunch of unrelated 'taki and just breeding them all. Too confusing and what not.

Q: Incest?
A: Ugh, no. If two Mataki are even remotely related, they cannot breed. I dunno, something in their brain chemistry makes it impossible for them to fall in love with those in the same bloodline and furthermore, that's disgusting. So no. Period. That is also why each pouch from each flatsale is not related in any way.

Q: Okay, I've RP'd my Mataki falling in love with my friend/acquaintance's Mataki and we are looking to breed. What do we do?
A: If everything is in check, then you and your friend/acquaintance will both PM me, Kokonotsu, with your request to breed. If I see fit, I'll will give you the go-ahead to send your trade of breeding fees and then a few days or so after breeding you'll have your pouch or pouches. BUT REMEMBER, BREEDING CAN ONLY HAPPEN IF THERE ARE SLOTS OPEN. Do NOT PM me if there are no slots open; make sure to check first.
