Hello! and welcome to The Gift of Wings -

This shop was formed for artists(avatar, text, wishlist, I.D card, and animation) who like to be charitable and give the gift of free art. Not to mention people who would like free art.

Artists who become very active in this group will receive "the gift of wings". We use donations to buy Fairy Wings which will given as a gift to the most deserving artist who participates.

General Rules for Everyone

- No swearing. No cybering. Be polite. Domos used without any provocation are irritating and may p.o. the staff.

- Do not PM gift_of_wings or kainohoshi12 unless it's an EMERGENCY. Kai reads the whole thread, but if he doesn't respond within a few days, feel free to PM.

- Do not advertise in the thread. If you want to be an affiliate or be linked on the front page, PM gift_of_wings. (this is one of the only exceptions to the above rule)

- Have fun.


General Rules for Requestees

- Art requests have no given format, but must specify desired type of art (nametag, wishlist, I.D. card, avatar art, or animation). As long as you say something along the lines of "I would like to have free art of this type..", you'll be fine. It also must be very clear that you have requested. "I heart avi art" isn't going to cut it.

- Art requests must be polite. None of this "I demand art domokun ". If that does happen, your request might not be placed on the request list.

- You have the responsibility of checking back at the thread for your art, unless we don't draw you for a long time.

- Do not whine about how you were not chosen. Feel free to post your request again. People who frequent the thread or pop in once in a while usually get drawn first.

- If you change your username, don't expect to get art unless you tell us your new name.

- Multiple requests for art are allowed, but 1st time requests are given first priority.

- Do not request a specific artist. Everyone is working hard to complete requests and playing favorites is just not cool.


General Rules for Artists

- If you claim a request, PLEASE get it done in a timely manner.

- Artists MUST friend the gift_of_wings account, for possible mass PMing purposes.

- PM your samples(if you want them next to your name) to gift_of_wings.

- You are responsible for checking the thread for new requests. We will NOT PM you requests for you to do.

- Artists are responsible for PMing art of old requestees to the recipient. If the requestee doesn't get it, why did you make it?

- Post all art done for the thread on the thread, properly labeled with the name of the requestee or the person it was drawn/made for.


General Guidelines for Artists' Art Count

- The art count for artists is calculated based on total art drawn at this thread for the people at the thread (artists and requestors).

- Art trades do not affect the art count.

- Art of non-requestors does not count if the recipient draws the artist in return. That is called an art trade.

- Art for requestors will ALWAYS be counted, even if the recipient draws the artist as a thank you afterwards.



Please remember that this art is free, but the artists do enjoy tips and donations to the club so we can buy wings for the artists would be wonderful.

Addendum to Thinning of the List Announcement:
I'm sending PMs to EVERYONE, even the thread regs. I know that most of you regs will stay artists, and I'm not trying to insult you or anything. It's just that it'd be weird for you not to get a PM while everyone else did. The new ones would ask you if you had gotten a PM and then there'd be confusion when you had no idea about them. If I'm completely off track, Kai's(kainohoshi12) open to feedback on this issue and any other issue on the thread or on PMs.. or even Hangouts...

Whoo! I'm finally done with all the PMs! Gaia wouldn't send to my friendslist so I ended up doing them one by one again... oh well. ^_^

Ah, and Wings now has reached the halfway point for the buying of wings ^____^ Look down at the donations post to see how much we have in the pot!

Two new special requests recently. Please look at the Special Requests section of the request list to see. Artists who claim these requests, please remember that they will not move from the special requests section even if you've claimed or drawn them; they're special that way.

I'm going to weed out the artist list again.. Poor oniisan near the bottom of the list doesn't have his emoticon heart anymore, and that means that the list is getting too long, not to mention that half of those on the list haven't been to the thread in ages.

Reply to the PM that Wings will send you, artists, and I will keep you on the list. Unless you specify a reason or give me a probable excuse however, if you do not show up in the thread and actually drop in a few times within two weeks, I will remove you. If you feel that I'm not being reasonable, PM me(kainohoshi12) suggestions and I will consider them.

Oh, and artists, PLEASE read the rules more carefully won't you? So many of you haven't friended Gift_of_Wings. Those rules have been there since February 5th. Threads move quickly so one month and a half doesn't seem a lot, but it is.

I've sent PMs to all artists except those on the friendslist because I'm hoping that the friendslist will work tomorrow and I won't have to send them one by one. sweatdrop Well, that's it for tonight... Hopefully Gaia will be more cooperative tomorrow.

I honestly can't think of anyone who deserves these more than you. You've stuck with the thread for so long, not to mention you've drawn the most out of all of us.

If you do not accept the Wings, I'll keep them in Wings' inventory until someone like you comes along, again. Or, we can discuss and figure out a fair way to elect the one who gets the wings if you refuse.

I don't think I can accept.. I mean.. I really appreciate it and all but.. i'd probably just sell them for my quest, which isn't nice at all. I think you should keep them, give em off to the next hard working artist, whi know's when wings will have enough money again anyway ^^


We finally decided to keep the wings in Gift_of_Wings' inventory and wait a bit before selecting another candidate.

Since it seems to be the trend, would anyone want to do a collab auction? Either working on the same piece, or a bunch of us can offer something individually~


lol, it depends how many want to participate but I think it'd be fun biggrin I'd say 10% (or whatever amount) goes to the thread, and the rest can be split among the artists. But it's up to you ^_^

Kai's finally back! School has been hectic with projects and homework everywhere, not to mention studying for the SAT that Kai just took. But hopefully things will slow down a bit from now on.

Kai has updated to page 419 and has added a little rule for the advertising. No advertising(item quests, shops, etc.) in the thread please; requests with links to art quests are perfectly fine. ^__^ It would also be nice if newcomers would read the front page before requesting.

Oh, and Kai's started up another section in the Artist listing... Easier way to keep track of all the art trades... ^__^ Kai was getting headaches over Art Trades before this. It was too much to keep track of.

2/23/05
Kai's on hiatus again because of a physics project due on monday and a math project due on tuesday among other things. There's also some SAT studying to be done so... I'm sorry, guys, but Kai will not update for a little while.

Kai is pretty dead from school and he's only updating this right now because of the sudden influx of H.D art ^__^ Hopefully sleeping at midnight will be a possibility from now on, but two more project deadlines are on the horizon... oO crying

Yay, Kai is sorta back! Wings has updated up 'til page 358. Thank you, Mackerachi for sending me those updates! I really appreciate it!

Kai is still plotting, trying to figure out how to reward those who found the codewords from the earlier update. The spotlight post now contains a list of the people who did respond to that update, just so that Kai can remember. ^^

A rule has been added to the artist section of the rules, just to remind everyone that the art just needs to be posted in the thread after it's done to be counted. I would really appreciate if you guys posted the art with a label for who it is for, because having that name makes updating much easier.

I'd also like to thank lil_metal_spoon who donated art to Wings. heart heart She has also been quite prolific and has drawn many of our artists. Thank you!

The projects and stuff keep on piling up. To maintain his concentration, since Kai is distracted easily, he will be on hiatus until he finishes all of this homework and works a lot on his projects. I'm sorry. Kai just can't handle all of this stress and sleep deprivation.

Kai is on semi-hiatus, due to many projects, homework, a sore throat, and a lack of sleep. He'll check the thread every time he has breaktime, but full updates are quite unlikely. Thread regs, please help the new artists. Kai will most likely be back, full time, by the end of the week.

Kai has updated again and the rules are completely revamped. The rule list is complete.

All art drawn for anyone here, requestor or artist, will be counted in the number of art drawn for the thread. However, if the recipient did not request the art and draws a return picture for you, your picture will not be counted, as it would be an art trade. Gifts from recipients of REQUESTED art will not affect your art count.

In addition, if an artist draws a requester, but does not draw the requested picture, the artist's picture will still be counted, but the request will still be on the list as unclaimed and incomplete.

If you are confused, please tell post on the thread saying so, and I'll try to word it more clearly.

Kai is exhausted from school, so he's on a brief hiatus until he can recover during the weekend. Please read the thread itself if you have questions on who has been claimed/drawn or has requested starting today.

Kai has updated up to page 288. From now on, expect an update of the lists, not necessarily in the update section, every two days. If Kai does not do that, please ask NICELY for him to update. He has a very busy school life in RL and he can't always make time to update in between the stress of doing lots of homework and projects.

The artist list was just shortened and whoa, the emoticons are working all the way down the post! ^^ If you want to rejoin and you didn't reply to the PM, PM me or post on the thread. I will re-add you. Unfortunately, since you didn't meet the deadline, you will have to start from zero pieces of art drawn.

Kai is back and he has updated up to page 235.

Artists, if you do not PM or post your continuing interest in being an artist at Wings before 1/21/05 midnight CST, Kai will remove your name from the list and your previous free art count(represented as heart on the list) will be deleted. No records will be kept of unconfirmed artists after midnight.

The revamping is mostly finished now. Please refresh your memory of the rules and look down to the new request list. The various categories of couple art, OC art, unclaimed art, claimed art, completed art, etc. have been separated into different lists for ease of use.

Requesters, please remember to be polite when requesting. This is a free art thread and demanding a picture is out of line, as is posting domos with no apparent reason.

From now on, please check the front page occassionally for updates. Kai will not remind you, unless you irritate him by not knowing what is going on.

Announcement: You are now responsible for PMing the art that you do to the recipient if the request done was not recent. Kai had been doing that earlier during the winter vacation, but each individual artist is responsible for that now.

The items that we offer now are avatar art, nametags, wishlists, and I.D. cards. If you request, please specify which type you want!

Request list is now being worked on. If you remember which requests are asking for couple pics, please post on the thread with either the page number, the sn of the person who requested or both, to quicken the process of adding another section to the request list key! Keep out an eye for requests for anything other than the standard art of an avatar, since I may add that category also to the key to help the artists.

All claims made before our thread was cut short by Gaia are now void! Since these requests were not drawn even after such a long time, they are now unclaimed. Thanks.

Janay Levy was killed in a car accident whe na drunk driver slammed into the passenger's side of her mother's car. Her mother was driving. After the crash, Janay was still clinging to life with a broken hip and a pinched artery, leaving her to bleed to death while she struggled to pull her mother out of the car. "Janay, don't stop moving. Janay!" Her funeral was today. We payed our respects.. When I went to see her in the casket, I expect her to sit up..And she didn't. When they closed the casket I realzied that she's never coming back. I'll never get to see her gorgeous, smiling face anymore. She was always so happy. I miss her. Mcdonald's is lonely now.. That Janay is gone.
After Janay's funeral, I was scheduled to work from 5pm-12am. I went in to work with my boyfriend the usual 30 minutes early.. We like to sit and eat sometimes. When I walked in the door(my eyes still puffy and red from thinknig of Janay), he grabbed my shoulders and pushed me back. His eyes were glassy and teary. "Back up. I have bad news. Bridgett's dead." ...Dead. Death. Die. Those words make me tremble now. Bridgett died in a car accident not even an hour after Janay's funeral. She pulled out infront of a woman who was going 55mph. The driver's seat was smashed all the way into the backseat. She died on impact.
Our entire resturant is in grieving. Tonight we all cried and everyone's eyes were red. No smiles..At McDonald's. I can't even manager to speak a word.. I shake at random moments, and all I think about is dying.

That's my story. I would like something to remember them by, so I am asking kind gaians to please make me art for them and me. If you are interested and you have..atleast SOME talent..(Id really like atleast one great artist) please contact me. If need be..Yes, I will pay.

My mom Ann she has Breast Cancer, she olmost died when i was 2, She didnt tell me she had it till i was 9 and i was sobbing that whole night. She had to go to the hospatal alout and she still does. She rejected to take Kemo. But i still care for her i met a wonderful 17 year old teen on a site i go on { www.habbohotel.co.uk } shes sweet her mother died when she was 14 from breast cancer, Heck im not even 14 so i cry all the time. Hey, if you're still taking art requests I was wondering if one of you could draw my avatar sitting on a bench, in the rain, crying. It is kinda a special request, my coisin was recently kidnapped and Raped. The sad tale started while she was online talking to several unknown people. One of witch she considered a close, (online) friend. The 'friend' asked my coisin to meet him in a nearby park. I rode my bike down with her, in the rain, and left her on a bench near a tree, to wait for this 'friend'. Two months later the police found her body, (I would rather not go into details) and told us she was dead; raped. I would really appreciate it if soemone could take the time to fill my request. thank you so much.

I have a request, Its to remeber my lost lover, he ran away a few years ago and havent returned. His name was Eli, And i loved him dearly, his mother and his father and himself got into a fight and he ran away from home, and he has never came back, i worry about him daily and only hope he will return.

For this picture i was myself standing and crying looking out over the ocean... with the sun setting and his face in the water.

I look like my avatar excapy my hair is straight black with purplr highlights, Blue eyes, white, i would like to wear a long sliver and gold gown, torn, with pretty blue bows. Me crying.

For my Eli, his eyes were blue, slightly darker then I, dirty blonde shaggy hair to his shoulders.

I would really like it if it could be done soon.
