THE PETITION
UPDATE! (.9/17/08.)
After this announcement it seems like the Admins are trying to listen! But the new Aquarium won't feature existing fish! Boo! The whole idea of the Aquarium and Fish Racing idea was to revitalize fishing! You should be able to put the fish that you catch while fishing in your Aquarium. Plus, you should be able to put your aquarium in your home (which remains to be seen).
(This is just a rough idea of how a race might look. Ideally there will be multiple angles. Angles that could be set to automatically change with the fish or that could be manually changed.)
___________________________________________________________
I like this idea because it would be fun, addictive, and somewhat of a goldsink.
Fish Racing would utilize a lot of items that we already have.
Plus, it would give us a reason to go into towns.
I think this might be a very popular game, if it were to come into existence.
The issue of the difficulty of the coding involved to create Fish Racing has been raised. My response to this is the old adage "Where there is a will there is a way."
The reason that Fish Racing would take place in Towns would be to breathe some life into Towns. Fish Racing would make Towns feel somewhat similar to the Water Festival event. ^_^
Or Fish Racing could take place in it's own area, like Rally.
Tell me what you think! XD

UPDATE!
- First, you’ll have to purchase an aquarium from Old Man Logan at The Ole Fishing Hole. There will be three sizes of Aquariums: small (1000g), medium (2500g), and large (5000g). The large aquarium is pictured above. The fish you catch could be added to an aquarium in your house. When in your house, you can click the aquarium to see a close up view. There will be a button, “Select Fish” to add certain fish to your aquarium. The close up view will allow you to feed and battle your fish.
(This is just a rough idea of how a race might look. Ideally there will be multiple angles. Angles that could be set to automatically change with the fish or that could be manually changed.)
- While in the Aquarium, you can click on a fish to see their stats and edit their name (the first time you name your fish is free, but it costs 100g to change their name after that). The name and stats of the fish will show up in your inventory when you click on it for more information.
Fish Racing will take place in the fountain of the middle square in each section of Towns. Up to six people can join in on a race. Each race will have three laps. There will be four classes of races: Beginner (levels 1-25), Junior (levels 26-50), Senior (levels 51-75), and Master (levels 76-100). The classes help create a fair race.
There will be a small entry fee for racing. The fee for each class; Beginner: 100g, Junior: 500g, Senior: 1k, and Master: 2k. Anyone can view the race, just click on the fountain and then click the “spectator" button while a race is in session.
There will be prizes given out for First, second, and third place at the end of every race. The prizes rewarded will depend on your class. You could win anything from gold, clothes, fish items, or even Fish Racing exclusive items!
A monthly Fish Racing Trophy could be issued for the best trainers in all of Gaia. The trophies (bronze through gold) would be bestowed upon the trainers with the most wins for that month.
- The stats will be on a scale of 1 to 100. The sum of the stats equal the level. The highest achievable level is 100. The stats are determined randomly upon catching the fish. What your stats will be when you start off will depend on the type of fish. A Spicy Tuna may higher Speed than a Bluestone Biter, but the Biter may start off with more Strength.
A Red Guppy will start off with lower stats, then say an Emeraldback Lion. But could a Red Guppy beat an Emerald Back Lion? Yes, it is possible. It would take hours of training though. And it would all depend on chance.
To raise those stats, have your fish battle and feed the fish different type of baits. The stats will include Strength, Speed, Stamina, and Boost.
Strength will determine which fish gets knocked back and by how much when they collide during a race. When the fish race and they get too close to each other, their competitive spirit will get the best of them and they’ll smash into each other. Level up your strength by fighting other fish in the aquarium. To battle, click on a fish, select “battle,” then click on another fish. When one fish starts flashing red, that means it is close to fainting. Be sure to stop the fight then before one fish dies and is removed from your inventory permanently!
Speed determines the rate at which your fish moves. Increase your fish’s Speed by feeding it Grade A fish bait while in the aquarium.
Stamina determines how long your fish can keep in the race. If your stamina is too low, you’ll be left in the dust… er... mud? Increase your fish’s stamina by feeding it Grade D fish bait while in the aquarium.
Boost determines how fast the fish will sprint off the starting line. The surge of adrenaline before each race creates a boost of energy right off the starting line. Don’t put too much effort into just your boost, sure you’ll start off in the lead, but you’ll need your other stats to help you win the race. Increase your fish’s Boost by feeding it Grade F fish bait while in the aquarium.
A fish will not always get knocked back if it encounters a fish with a higher Strength stat, it just has less of a chance of knocking the other fish back. The closer the Strength stats, the closer the battle will be. If two fish have the same Strength stat rating, then they both have a 50-50 chance of knocking back or getting knocked back.
The sum of the stats of the fish entered will determine the fish’s level.
For instance: A fish with the stats of STR: 2, SPD: 3, STA: 1, and BST: 1, would be a LV 7 fish.
A fish with the stats of STR: 25, SPD: 25, STA: 25, and BST: 25 would be a LV 100 fish. (Level 100 being the highest level.)
