THE GAIAWARDS

What is it?
    No, not Gai Awards, Gaia Awards! The GA is here to bring the community
    together to vote on users that are in need of recognition. Whether you're an
    artist, a writer, a helpful person, or "just another user," you might be able to
    get a spot as a nominee, and win the title of any category. As members of the
    Gaian community, we will all pitch in to make this happen, and hopefully start
    a yearly tradition. Welcome, to the first Gaian Awards!

    UPDATE JULY 4th

    It has come to our attention that a lot of users are not liking
    the way nominees came out.     Yes, most of them are from the GCD. This
    was in a discussion form, meaning more people from the discussion forums would
    be able to find it easier. The nominees were put up by most nominated, and
    as you can see not every single category is filled with users from the GCD.

    What we will try to do in the future is get MORE people to hear about it. We
    cannot do it with out you, though! So if you want to see more people YOU
    recognise, then tell your friends about it next year and tell them to nominate
    people from the forums you frequent!


    And just a note. This is the FIRST GaiAwards, so a lot of it is testing. We did
    not know how things would turn out, and one of the things we would like to
    change for next year is the amount of categories.

    Hopefully more planning will be done to allow categories that need people
    from the forums all over Gaia, not just based on discussion etc.

    However, what is here now is what 07 brings. If you don't know anyone from
    a category, search them using the community search engine, and research
    them. Too lazy? Then just don't vote. You can select which categories you
    want to vote in, and you don't NEED to vote in every single one!

How Can I help?
    Even though we are not in need of thread helpers (as for
    now), we do need all of the community to participate! Help the GA by
    sending in your requests for nominees, and send in votes once that voting
    begins. What are you waiting for? Scroll down and start the voting!

    If you have any extra coins in your pocket, our lovely helper, WindPowa,
    has created a custom Poll for GaiAwards. We would like to show him some
    gratitude, so any of your donations sent to GAwards Host will be split between
    prizes, and for sending money to people like WindPowa. Thanks!

HOW TO VOTE
------------------------------------

Now that nominations are over (see the small sized text below), you are
only able to vote for the top four nominations per category. In the following
posts are those who you can vote for. If you like, please review the users
and decide who you want to win that specific category.

When you have made your decision, click here, or visit
http://gaiawards.gaiatools.com. You don't have to pick someone from
every category, so if you only want to vote for one category, then just vote
under that category and submit.

BE SURE TO VOTE 11 TIMES! You need to press the
submit button each time you click a bubble! If you fill out each bubble and
press any submit button, it will only save the vote from that category.

Go one by one until it says you cannot vote in any category.

The last poll option is just to count how many voters there are.

You may only vote once per PC/IP and can only see poll results or edit the
poll with a password.

HOW IT WORKS
------------------------------------


We have many categories and many people to be nominated.
Thing is, we can't get people nominated without YOUR HELP.

Simply look at the categories and if a Gaian sticks out in your head who
relates to that category, PM the account in charge of counting votes for that
category and that's it! Mae sure you type out the FULL NAME of the user!

REMEMBER-- Only PM the account with that category. DO NOT PM Cid or
Zarkis with your nominee votes or THEY WILL NOT BE COUNTED.

On July 1st, nominee votes will stop and we'll open the voting up for
winners! The top four nominated people in each category will be the ones
decided upon.

YOU, THE USER, MUST VOTE FOR BOTH TOP FOUR NOMINEES IN EACH
CATEGORY AS WELL AS THE TOP WINNER IN THE END! THAT IS THE MOST
IMPORTANT ASPECT!

On July 21st, we will announce winners!

Can I nominate more than one person?

Yes, you can. You can only nominate up to three people for each
category.

Can I nominate myself?

Yes, but it is highly discouraged. We're trying to make this a
community thing, and last time I checked, there was no "I" in "team".

Can I vote for myself once the top four nominees have been
selected?

NO. You can nominate yourself, but you CANNOT vote for
yourself. If you do, it won't be counted.
