EDIT: Thanks a bajillion for the staff listing! While it's obviously not quite as good as a staff blog, it's a huge step in the right direction. I'm glad you've made my little list redundant smile I hope to see more steps in the direction of better public relations from Gaia in the future.
We all know Gaia has some issues in communication with its users. Too often people are left in the dark unless they know what forums to visit or what devs and artists post information in their personal journals. These things aren't put in announcements and are often put in a newsletter too late or not at all.
Semi-solution? Gaia staff blog!
Plenty of businesses, particularly ones based around a website or with a large web following, have blogs that people have the option of subscribing to via RSS if they want to receive updates on what's happening and random points of interest. From what I can see there's a few benefits of Gaia having a blog that its staff members can post to:
It could be used mainly for things not important enough to warrant an announcement but should be talked about for people who want to know. If it falls somewhere in between they could be talked about in detail in the blog and linked from the newsletter for those who want that extra detail.
I know it's difficult to keep a blog up to date (believe me...), but I know of quite a few staff members who regularly post this kind of information in the Gaia journals and forum posts anyway - so it shouldn't really be much extra effort after the initial setup. And I think communication is something important and worthy of some time and money investment, and definitely something Gaia could be paying more attention to. This would be a fantastic first step in keeping us all informed.
Thread was seen by the appropriate peoples, mission accomplished xd I hope it gets taken further from here!
If any other staff members see this thread I'd be particularly interested in your feedback on the idea.
For those who can't wait, Riddle-Me-This has kindly posted a bunch of links to staff members who regularly post in their journal and in the forums whee I'll also be compiling a comprehensive listing eventually; for the moment it's under construction in my journal. This has been made redundant by the new official staff listing. Yay!

- Users who want to know more about the site than provided in announcements can subscribe to a single place to get that information rather than poking around dev's journals
Glitch fixes and things like 'hey, we got your feedback on X feature and are working on improving it!' can be posted without annoying the entire site with constant announcement updates
Users can have greater insight into decisions - juno's explanations of item releases for example, or the reason that some parts of the site are region specific
Users can have greater appreciation for the fact that there are real people behind Gaia and get to know them a little better biggrin
Place to put all those con photos I know someone on staff must have...

Chisa, this is a great idea. We've actually wanted to make something like this for quite some time now, such as implementing a forum where Gaia staff are free to create their own individual threads and post to it with new updates like how Lanzer does in his thread in Q&A. For whatever reason, the project never took flight; maybe it was because no one had the bandwidth to drive it at the time. sweatdrop I can suggest it again to the appropriate staff for this and see if we can look at the project again. Thanks.
