Midori’s Menagerie is a shop selling all kinds of animals, birds and mythical creatures. As I’m not particularly talented at colouring myself, I’m looking for some full time or part time colourists to help me run the shop. You can be as active or as inactive as you like, so I’m not sure yet how many colourists I’ll need. Please don’t be offended if I don’t hire you, all serious participants get a 10% discount on the first purchase they make in the store.

REQUIREMENTS

1) You must be able to do some sort of shading, with highlights if you wish. I'm buying shading templates so please DON'T SHADE ENTRIES.

2) You don’t need to be able to do lineart edits as I intend to redraw customs myself. However, if you can do edits it wouldn’t hurt.

3) Any type of colouring is fine. If you’d like to work in more than one style (for example cell shading and airbrushing) please provide examples of both types. It would be good if customers had some variety when choosing a colourist for their pet, but I don’t mind more than one colourist using the same style.

4) Must be open to suggestions for patterns, colours, or flatsale themes. You don’t have to listen to my ideas but I’d prefer if you gave them a chance if you didn’t have anything else planned.

5) I’ll also need at least one person willing to work as a certist. I can possibly provide lineart for a background if you run the idea by me. You don’t have to be a certist to get a job as a colourist.

6) I’d like full time colourists to be able to make at least 2 pets per month on average. I’m very lenient, as long as you don’t promise people art that you don’t provide. If you’re particularly busy because of real life or you’re suffering from an art block, close your customs slots.

7) If you only want to colour a few pets you can apply to be a guest colourist and leave any time you like, or dip in and out of the shop when you feel like colouring for us again.

PAYMENT

Colourists get 60% of gold from all pets they sell. They can also make as many free pets for themselves as they wish.

The base price for pets will probably be 3k, but you can charge extra on top of that if you wish (I only get 40% of the original 3k). Try not to charge too much though, or customers may go to other colourists. Depending on demand you can raise or lower your prices, but you MUST charge the price quoted at the time they ordered (that means don’t say they’re 1k then jack up the price as soon as people request a pet).

You still get your full 60% of the base price, even if I offer the customer a discount for whatever reason. If you offer your own discount it comes out of your own pay.

F.A.Q.

Do I have to use Photoshop?
No, but the colouring must be fairly good quality. You can even print the lineart and colour it by hand if you want.

How many pets do I need to colour?
As many as you like. You can quit any time.

If I’m a colourist can I give free pets to all my friends on Gaia?
Sorry, but no. If you did that there’d be less customers. If you want to pay me my 40% for each pet, give out as many as you like!

How many pets does Midori’s Menagerie sell?
At the moment there is lineart for three pets (the griffin, the furry dragon and the rhino dragon) and sketches for plenty more. I plan to possibly make the pets limited edition (e.g. make a certain amount, then make them available only through bribes) so there’ll always be new pets in the shop and hopefully old customers will come back for new pets. I’ll also make certain pets really rare so they only show up in the occasional auction.

I've decided to have another event! This one is a raffle! Tickets are 50 GOLD EACH and more prizes will be added the more tickets we sell. There will be a draw for each prize available. If you win a familiar but don't have a pet the familiar will be certed seperately.
