Silviana:

Name: Silviana Calen
Gender: Female
Animal: North American Timber Wolf
Hairstyle: Neatly trimmed just above her shoulders
Hair Colour: A rich, dark honey blonde
Skin color: Dark gray with sprinkles of black, tan, and white (especially around the neck). Underbelly is a creamy white edged with tan. A nearly-black strip goes from her shoulder blades to the mid-section of her tail.
Clothing: What was once a plain forest green skirt, now covered with leaves and flowers that Silviana pinned there herself.
Markings: Left ear is snowy white, right is midnight black.
Eye color: Gold
Eye style: Slightly slanted
Pose: Lying on her stomach. A book open in her hands like she’s reading it, a crescent moon pendant just visible dangling from her neck.
Personality: Silviana is a relatively active child who enjoys running around outside and playing, especially at night. Yet she also has what some people refer to as a rather large lazy streak, curling up anywhere to read her latest book, and maybe take a nap while she’s at it. She’s friendly to most everyone, though she does tend to twitch eagerly at the sight of anything she regards as possible ‘prey’. And, once she regards someone as a friend, she latches on for life, willing to guard her ‘pack’ at all costs. It takes a lot to lose the title of friend or, as Silviana calls it, ‘pack-mate’. In her view of the world, Mith is the pack leader, and she will do anything her adoptive mother tells her to because of this. Overall, she is a very sweet child who is always eager to please her mother and friends, not that she needs to try. Her intelligent, charming nature seems to draw a lot of people to her naturally. (There are, of course, exceptions)
In regards to her sister, it is obvious that Silviana is quieter and more withdrawn with a gentler nature. Yet, those who know her and her sister, also know that it is Silviana who has dominance, because Sitara will do anything and everything to gain her sister’s approval. Silviana, on the other hand, knows that Sitara adores her and doesn’t need to do anything to keep it that way. So the quiet, more retiring twin is the one really in charge.

Other: Silviana, or Iana as her nickname will be, will develop a marked preference for other females when she gets older. Yes, I already have that planned, and that is how it will be. It will not change her personality anything at all

The Guardian: ((later))
Sitara:

Name: Sitara
Gender: Female
Animal: North American Timber Wolf
Hairstyle: Hangs a bit below her shoulders and, unlike her twins, is quite untamed with bits of leaves and twigs sticking out occasionally
Hair Colour: Pale white-blonde, like that of an albino
Skin color: Frosty white fur, with darker patches more like cream along her underbelly. Her tail is tipped in pale gray, almost like it was dipped in a paint can.
Clothing: A plain forest green skirt that looks much worse for the wear.
Markings: Left ear is midnight black, right ear is white
Eye color: Pink, like an albino, with flecks of the more typical gold.
Eye style: Slightly slanted
Pose: Standing above her sister with her arms at her side, head thrown back in a howl. Her small gold pendant (shaped like a star) dangles on her chest.
Personality: Above all else, Sitara is loyal to her twin, and if Iana needs her, then Sitara will drop everything to go running. But when her sister is engaged in her latest book, or napping, Sitara feels free to do as she pleases, and this is when she shines. Sitara is extremely energetic, unfortunate since she also has a slight aversion to going outside during the day. At night she roams the neighborhood until called home, making up games to play by herself or with her twin, since she doesn’t meet a lot of others who share her night-time preference.
Unlike Iana, Sitara does not have a sweet and winning personality. She is more rough and tumble, preferring to growl at a newcomer than smile, unless Iana is there to tell her not to. She has the same view of pack as her twin, though, viewing Mith and Iana as being the alpha. Any friends that she might make would fall somewhere beneath them, and their treatment would depend on where exactly they fell.

Other: Sitara is very close to being an albino, but she can stand to be out in the sunlight. She just hates to be out for long periods of time and avoids it at all times.

The Wolf:

North American Gray Timber Wolf: (all information taken from www.wikipedia.org )
Wolf weight and size can vary greatly worldwide, though both tend to increase proportionally with higher latitudes. Generally speaking, height varies from 0.6–0.8 meters (26–32 inches) at the shoulder, and weight can range anywhere from 23–59 kilograms (50–130 pounds), making wolves the largest among all wild canids.[3] Although rarely encountered, extreme specimens reaching over 77 kg (170 lb) have been recorded in Alaska and Canada,[4] and the heaviest wolf on record, which was killed in Alaska in 1939, weighed 80 kg (175 lb).[5] The smallest wolves come from the Arabian Wolf subspecies, the females of which may weigh as little as 10 kg (22 lb) at maturity. Customarily, however, wolves will be of a more typical physical capacity, with the females in a given population weighing about 20% less than their male counterparts.[6] Wolves can measure anywhere from 1.3–2 meters (4.5–6.5 feet) from nose to tail tip, with the tail itself consisting of approximately one quarter of overall body length.[7]
Wolves are built for stamina, possessing features tailored for long-distance travel. Narrow chests and powerful backs and legs contribute to the wolf's proficiency for efficient locomotion. They are capable of covering several miles trotting at about a 10 km/h (6 mph) pace, though they have been known to reach speeds approaching 65 km/h (40 mph) during a chase (wolves only run fast when testing potential prey).[8] While sprinting thus, wolves can cover up to 5 meters (16 ft) per bound.[9]

Wolves usually have blended pelages.
Wolf paws are able to traverse easily through a wide variety of terrains, especially snow. There is a slight webbing between each toe, which allows wolves to move over snow more easily than comparatively hampered prey. Wolves are digitigrade, so the relative largeness of their feet helps to better distribute their weight on snowy surfaces. The front paws are larger than the hind paws, and feature a fifth digit, a dewclaw, that is absent on hind paws. Bristled hairs and blunt claws enhance grip on slippery surfaces, and special blood vessels keep paw pads from freezing.[10] Furthermore, scent glands located between a wolf's toes leave trace chemical markers behind, thereby helping the wolf to effectively navigate over large expanses while concurrently keeping others informed of its whereabouts.[10]
A wolf sometimes seems more massive than it actually is due to its bulky coat, which is made of two layers. The first layer consists of tough guard hairs designed to repel water and dirt. The second is a dense, water-resistant undercoat that insulates. Wolves have distinct winter and summer pelages that alternate in spring and autumn. Females tend to keep their winter coats further into the spring than males.
Coloration varies greatly, and runs from gray to gray-brown, all the way through the canine spectrum of white, red, brown, and black. These colors tend to mix in many populations to form predominantly blended individuals, though it is certainly not uncommon for an individual or an entire population to be entirely one color (usually all black or all white). A multicolor coat characteristically lacks any clear pattern other than it tends to be lighter on the animal's underside. Fur color sometimes corresponds with a given wolf population's environment; for example, all-white wolves are much more common in areas with perennial snow cover. Aging wolves acquire a grayish tint in their coats.
The hierarchy, led by the alpha male and female, affects all activity in the pack to some extent. In most larger packs, there are two separate hierarchies in addition to an overbearing one: the first consists of the males, led by the alpha male, and the other consists of the females, led by the alpha female.[10] In this situation, the alpha male usually assumes the "top" alpha position, though alpha females have been known to take control over entire packs in some cases. The male and female hierarchies are interdependent, and are maintained constantly by aggressive and elaborate displays of dominance and submission.
After the alpha pair, there may also, especially in larger packs, be a beta wolf or wolves, a "second-in-command" to the alphas. Betas typically assume a more prominent role in assisting with the upbringing of the alpha pair's litter, often serving as surrogate mothers or fathers while the alpha pair is away. Beta wolves are the most likely to challenge their superiors for the role of the alpha, though some betas seem content with being second, and will sometimes even let lower ranking wolves leapfrog them for the position of alpha should circumstances necessitate such a happening, such as the death of the alpha. More ambitious beta wolves, however, will only wait so long before challenging for the top spot unless they choose to disperse and create their own pack instead.

The Reasoning (Asry):

Yes, simply put, D-Corp is teh smex and although I am very happy with my baby Gabby, having another child would be wonderful! And so when Mith invited me to be a part of her quest for getting twins I just couldn't refruse. *grin*

Oh rly. I'll update this with more.
Mith's Reasoning:

I love wolves, and have since I was really little. Only I loved them more then, to the point of obsession, than I do now. But still, wolves will always equal <3 in my book. And when a concept contest came up for D-Corp (which I have stalked since its first opening, but just for writing contests since I never took the time to set up a quest) that seemed absolutely perfect for the wolf-girl taking form in my mind, I decided to use her and see what I could come up with. The character that I created turned out pretty good and, even though I did not win the concept, I decided that she was worth questing for.

Then, thinking about it, I decided that twins would be even better. Thus Sitara was created. After all, wolves are pack creatures, and two may not be a pack, but they are better than just one. And then, it came to me. Twins would be more fun if there were two people playing them, one for each, and I decided to ask one of my friends (Asyrane) if she wanted to co-quest for them with me. She said yes, and now I am questing for Silviaiana and she for Sitara. It's awesome.

------

The Concept That Created Silviana:

“If we were anything but D-Corp kids then we wouldn’t be taking finals yet,” Chione said stubbornly, crossing her arms in front of her chest. “You take this learning far too seriously anyhow. What use is it going to be us when D-Corp has us running missions to know history or biology?”

Iana shook her head, golden eyes narrowed slightly as she finished off another note card. “It could be useful,” she said, her typical fallback in this played out argument. “You never know when a past mistake could keep you from making one in the future.”

“But it’s a party!” Chione exclaimed, her dark eyes sparkling as she placed her hands on either side of Iana and leaned in. “Time to have fun, let go, and forget about school for once in your life. Geez, you were like this even when we were little. Remember that time at the park with Dagan? We played catch while you sat and read.”

“Those were the days,” Iana said. She couldn’t deny that she was interested in going to the party, having never been to one, but finals were finals. “Just stay and study with me.” She smirked and placed her forehead against Chione’s, her voice as close to a purr as it could get. “Stay the night? Mother won’t mind.” But Chione didn’t melt like she normally did when Iana touched her, keeping her dark eyes locked with her gold ones. Damn, the timber wolf girl thought, she really wants me to go to this party with her. She broke the gaze to stare longingly at her books, knowing that she wasn’t going to get through the ones she needed to tonight after all. “I hate it when you do this,” she informed her girlfriend, nipping the end of her nose lightly.

“Does this mean we’re going to the party?”

“Yes,” Iana said with a sigh. “We’re going to the party.” But she couldn’t keep her dour expression when Chione let out a yip of excitement and knocked her back onto the bed, kissing her thoroughly. Some things were worth putting studying off.

One Month Later

Iana stared at her mother, Mith, and shook her head. “No,” she said simply, refusing to believe what she had been told. “That isn’t possible.”

“Iana, sweetheart… possible or not, that’s what the test says.” She held up the sheet of paper she had been sent that morning, the official D-Corp stamp at the top, and gave it a little wave. “And you know as well as I do that scientists who can create children with animal DNA perfectly merged wouldn’t be wrong about something like this.”

“No!” Iana shouted, slamming her fist down on the kitchen table. “It doesn’t make sense that something like this could possibly happen, and you know that as well as I do.” She pointed to a picture frame sitting on the windowsill of herself and Chione. “I have a girlfriend and, unless the laws of nature changed when I wasn’t looking, it is not possible for me to get pregnant by having sex with her! And it’s not anyone’s business if I do, at that!!” She was breathing heavily and shaking, more from anger than anything else. If this was someone’s idea of a joke then it was a pretty sick one. Especially on her, with her DNA. She shook her head again as Mith pushed the paper across the table towards her, wanting to do nothing more than tear it apart.

“Read it,” Mith said quietly, worry clear in her eyes. She did not know why this letter had been sent to her, speaking of her daughter’s monthly check-up and going on in detail, but she wanted to know. It was true that Iana, or Silviana as she was called in the letter, was dating another female D-Corp child, so the contents of the letter made absolutely no sense. Unless, of course, Iana had been lying to everyone for the past three years. No, Mith told herself firmly, Iana would never lie to me, it’s not in her nature. I don’t think she even knows how to lie. How angry the wolf-girl was seemed to scream that none of it could be true. But then why? And why that DNA when it’s so close…

Iana picked the paper up, her gold eyes narrowing and then widening as she read. “No,” she whispered, the anger fading from her voice to be replaced by confusion. “This isn’t possible.” She looked up at Mith, all of the anger gone from her face and eyes, and back down at the paper. “These tests can’t be right, mother, they just can’t be. I’ve never…” She stopped speaking suddenly, her eyes going even wider, her ears seeming to wilt when she grabbed the paper and read the last paragraph again. “Oh… oh no, no, no, no, no, no!” The last was a scream of denial and Iana tore the paper in half, fourths, and then eighths; shredding it until it could never be read again. Her eyes were wild when she looked at Mith again, and then she was running for the door, grabbing her jacket as she went.

“Silviana!” Mith shouted, jumping to her feet and running to the door, where she could just see her daughter’s tail whipping out of sight around the gate. “Iana, you come back here!” But there was no reply. Mith stood at the door, the cold wind raising goose bumps on her arms, for at least ten minutes, wishing that her daughter would reappear. Then she heard a long, loud, mournful howl that brought tears to her eyes. She had heard her daughter howl before, all the time when she was younger, but it had never sounded so… lost. She listened for as long as she could bear, then turned and closed the door. It was time to make a phonecall that she had never thought she would need to. After all, Chione and Dagan’s father deserved to know that he was going to be a grandfather.

“It’s funny,” she said to herself as she picked up the phone to dial the familiar number. “That I never thought for a moment that Iana would give this kid up, no matter how it had happened.”

After a thorough check-up, it has come to the attention of D-Corp that Silviana Calen is pregnant. That one line of text kept flashing through her head as she howled out her frustration, anger, and disbelief at the world.

Silviana leaned back against the trunk of the tree, her face wet with tears and finally worn out from all her howling. She slumped to the ground, too tired to even cry more, and buried her face in her hands. “This can’t be happening,” she moaned. “I get drunk at that damn party, make one stupid mistake, and this happens?” What was she going to tell Chione? What was she going to tell Dagan?! Maybe it should have been obvious, but she had absolutely no idea which of the twins was going to be harder to tell. Her girlfriend… or the father of the child that was now obviously growing within her and just happened to be her girlfriend’s twin brother.

Her nose flared at a familiar scent that the wind carried to her and she stiffened instantly. “Why don’t you do both of us a favor and go away?” she snapped without even turning.

“Oh come on, Iana,” Dagan said, though he did stop several feet away. “Why are you being like this? It was an honest mistake, and we told Chione about it, so there’s no reason to keep treating me like I’m a piece of crap stuck to the bottom of your paw.”

“You’re not sorry,” Iana growled, the hair on the back of her neck bristling as she whirled to glare at the malamute boy. “And you weren’t drunk like I was! I was vulnerable and you took complete advantage of that, and of looking like Chione like you do!” She stood up, her eyes flashing as she glared up at the taller teen, making him wince. “You hurt me and your sister, and you want me to act like nothing’s wrong.”

“Iana, calm down.”

“No, I will not calm down!” Iana shouted, her voice still hoarse from howling. “I had my monthly check-up yesterday, and I just got the report telling me what they found. Want to know what it said?” Iana very rarely lost her control, but this had been just the right thing to push her over that edge.

A second, feminine scent joined Dagan’s and Iana tensed even more when Chione stepped out from the dark shadows. She had never seen her girlfriend look so upset, and hurt. Her eyes were rimmed with red and that, even more than what was going on, tore at Iana’s heart. The last thing she had ever wanted to happen was for Chione to get hurt because of something she had done. “Chione…”

“She’s pregnant,” Chione stated, her voice trembling. “Her mother just called to tell our father, and he told me to find you and inform you that you’re the father. See, if we were ‘normal’ then they wouldn’t be able to know who the father was, but since we’re D-Corpers the mix of DNA is apparently more obvious. Silviana would understand, she’s the clever one.” There was a bitterness there that neither of the others missed.

“You… you never call me that,” Iana said blankly, her anger just gone as she stared at Chione. She knows… she knows and I wasn’t the one to tell her. He knows and I wasn’t the one to tell him! Great Mother what are they going to think of me?

“We’ve never been in this situation before, have we?” Chione asked.

Iana began to hang her head in shame when a thought struck her. Yes, she was ashamed of her action, but why should she be ashamed at what was going to come of it? Her wolf DNA seemed to rear its head at that moment, berating her for daring to show shame that she was with pup. It was a reason to be proud to be a mother! She could be ashamed that she had hurt Chione in this way, and Dagan even, but she could not justify to the part of her that was wolf being ashamed of the life that was beginning to grow inside her. She lifted her head back up, golden eyes clear for the first time since her mother had showed her the letter from D-Corp.

“No, we have never been in this situation before,” she said to Chione, her voice oddly steady. “And we never will be again, I can promise you that from the very depths of my heart, and you’ve never known me to break a promise.” The wolf-girl was far too honorable to do that, and no one could claim to know her unless they also knew that she would never tell a lie. “I am sorry for hurting you like this, and for any pain that will come to you as well, Dagan. Be it through my own actions or the fact that you are going to be an unwilling father.”

“You’re not gonna keep the kid!” Dagan exclaimed, taking a step forward. The look Iana turned on him stopped him right in his tracks. “I mean, you can’t, we’re just kids ourselves. Too much to do for D-Corp to have some kid nipping at our heels.”

“Shut up, Dagan,” Iana said. “I doubt that they would allow me to keep the child as my own, and even if they would allow me to… get rid of it, I would not.” Even saying the words was hard for her! Every last ounce of her mind screamed that it was an unnatural act to get rid of a pup that could prove beneficial to the pack one day.

Dagan folded his arms across his chest, a familiar, stubborn look settling over his face. “You’re not gonna ruin my life,” he said simply, showing off the selfish streak that made him so different from his twin clearly. “I don’t want-”

“I don’t care what you do or don’t want,” Iana snapped, her patience wearing thin. She could not believe that Dagan was acting like this, no matter how young he was. His animal blood came from a creature much like a wolf, how could he not be feeling the same instincts that she was? Maybe it was because he was a male… but no, Iana was sure that a male wolf would feel that a cub would do nothing but strengthen the pack overall. “You… Dagan, you will lose less of my respect if you just leave me alone for awhile. Okay? Just, just go. Please, for the sake of our friendship and likely our sanity as well.”

“Talk to one of the technicians,” Dagan grumbled, pointing a finger at her before turning and running off the way he had come, leaving Iana alone with Chione.

“You don’t have to stay,” Iana said quietly, having no clue whatsoever how to deal with this. Her pride was beginning to fade, though enough of it remained to assure her that she was doing the right thing, leaving behind a sense of fear that she was going to lose everything that was important to her because of one drunken mistake. “I… I understand if you want to go. I-if you don’t want to deal with me, with this.” She did look at the ground then, hot tears threatening to spill over if Chione did indeed leave.

Then a warm hand was forcing her to look up into Chione’s dark, wonderfully familiar eyes. The tears there were not familiar, but Iana could see now that they didn’t stem from anger like she had thought before. “You’ll keep it?” she asked. “Even though it’s not something that you wanted?” Just the way she said it conveyed how important the answer was going to be, although she had to know what Iana was going to say.

“Yes, I will. Even if D-Corp gives to another mother, one that could care for it properly, then I will carry it all the same.”

Chione bit her lip and the tear that slipped from one eye made Iana’s fingers itch to wipe it away. “Why?”

“I think it’s in my blood… literally.” Iana smiled crookedly when Chione let out a giggle mixed with a sob. “It’s insane, but I’m actually proud that I’m going to bring another life into the world, even if it never knows I exist. It will be strong, part wolf after all, and bring much to D-Corp, who gave me my life. It feels like another way to repay them. And, honestly, I don’t think that I could go through with not bringing the child to term. The wolf in me would never let that happen.”

“I think that I’m proud of you.”

“I think that I’m going to be proud of me too, once you forgive me.”

“I might be able to do that… you have what would be my niece or nephew in there after all.”

Iana laughed at Chione’s poor attempt at a joke and all-but threw herself into her girlfriend’s eyes, tears she had thought spilled in full starting up once again. But it was better this time because she had someone to hold her and tell her that it was going to be all right. Because it was, and sure she knew that, but it never hurt to hear it.

Mith sipped at her now-cold cup of coffee, green eyes bleary as she continued to stare at the door from her chair. She had to have been on her sixth cup by now, and this one was sugarless, but she could still feel sleep beginning to steal over her body. Shortly after she had gotten off of the phone with Chione and Dagan’s father one of the D-Corp technicians had called and said that he needed to meet with her and Iana as soon as possible. When Mith had begun to say that maybe it should wait a few days she had been overrun and told that a technician would be there within two hours.

It had been three and the only one in the house was still Mith. Well, and Iana’s dragon, but she had no clue where the creature had gone to. “Someone get here,” she muttered to the thin air. “I need sleep.” Her nerves were completely frayed, she had just learned that her lesbian daughter was pregnant!!, and she was pretty sure that if any more unexpected news came before she got a good night’s rest then she would just fall apart right on the spot.

Her coffee spilled on the floor when the door was flung open and two people marched in, the taller one dragging a young woman with long hair who could only be Iana with him. Mith leapt to her feet, infuriated more by the fact that someone was manhandling her daughter than that whoever it was had entered her house without even knocking. “Who the hell do you think you are?” she demanded, running over to snatch her daughter free of the man. “Dragging her like that and bursting into my house as though you owned the- oh.” Her eyes, focused now, saw that this man was the same technician who always took care of Iana when she had to get a check-up. “Hello D-tech 267.”

267, Mith had asked for his name but always received the answer that he had none that mattered, inclined his head stiffly. “I ran into her as I was coming up the road and, when she attempted to flee in the other direction, I thought it would be best to bring her along with me. Silviana needs to be present for this discussion and I need to return to the lab as soon as possible. If you would both sit down?”

Mith complied, sitting on the couch with Iana held close to her side. She could feel her daughter trembling and wasn’t sure if it was from the coolness of the night or fear. “What is it, 267?” Mith asked, stroking Iana’s hair soothingly without even having to think about it. “We received your letter earlier and it was very clear. What more could there be?”

“There is the matter of the child itself,” 267 said, his eyes going between Mith and Iana. “You do know, Silviana, that we cannot allow you to keep it.”

Iana tensed instantly, a low growl sounding from her throat, and Mith’s fingers tightened in her daughter’s hair in case the wolf-girl decided to go for the D-tech. “I expected as much,” Mith said honestly. “And it is not that I doubt your judgment-”

“You disagree?” 267 sounded honestly surprised, the first emotion that Mith or Iana had ever heard him express.

“I just don’t think that it should be D-Corp’s decision.” When Iana made a sound of protest, Mith shushed her. “I think it should be up to Iana and Dagan. How else are they going to learn responsibility for their actions if the result doesn’t effect them at all?” Mith did not believe for an instant that her daughter should be allowed to keep a child at her tender age, but she had always taught Iana that she had to be the one to take responsibility for her actions, and she was not about to let D-Corp ruin that, no matter if they had created the wolf-girl or not! After all, they had given her to Mith to care for and raise, and she had done what she viewed to be a fine job.

267 stiffened in his chair. “We created Silviana, and thus-”

“You gave her to me to raise,” Mith countered, her temper beginning to rise just a little. “She’s turning into a wonderful young woman-”

“She is still like a child!” 267 snapped, displaying his second emotion in less than ten minutes. “One who cannot be expected to grasp the severity of the situation at hand!”

“Yes she can! Iana is intelligent, and I believe she will make the right choice. And even if she didn’t, I would still stand beside her and support her in her decision because she is my daughter, not D-Corp’s!”

Iana turned wide, surprised eyes to her mother. “Really?” she asked, her voice seeming very child-like to Mith’s ears. “You’d support me?”

“Oh sweetheart,” Mith said, cupping her daughter’s cheeks in her hands. “You’re my daughter, Iana, and I’ll always support you no matter what you do.” She kissed Iana on the forehead and turned to glare at 267, who gave just as good as he got.

“What would you do, Silviana?” 267 asked, his tone back to being neutral despite the anger in his eyes. “If you had a choice in the matter?”

Iana gave Mith a small smile before turning the face the D-tech. “I would ask that D-Corp find a family they believed capable of raising my child properly. You are right in saying that I am not old enough for this, because I am not, and I see that very clearly. But I also know that if my child went to an unworthy family then I would be forced to sever myself from D-Corp, because I could never work for an organization that gives strong pups to the unworthy.”

“That’s the wolf DNA talking,” 267 murmured, the anger gone from his eyes like it had never been there. “Although I honestly expected more of a fight from you, Silviana. Surely you feel the need to raise your ‘pup’ on your own.”

“In a way, I do. But I also know that I could not. That’s the advantage of being two species, you know, I can look at one thing in two completely different ways and see the best solution.” A grin spread across Iana’s face, giving her a very wolfish appearance. “But you knew that, 267, you know me better than any of the other techs.”

“Indeed I do,” 267 said as he stood up, bowing to Iana and her now-confused mother. “Which is why it confused me to learn that you were pregnant. I had always thought that you preferred females.”

Iana blushed. “I do,” she replied. “It was… ahhh, I was under the influence of alcohol and with a boy who greatly resembled his sister. Can we not talk about this now? I need to rest, as does my mother. It has been a rough night.”

“I will expect you for a check-up in two weeks,” 267 said before turning and walking out, the door clicking shut behind him.

Mith stared at Iana, a strange mix of confused, exhausted, and proud. “You… I will never understand you, daughter.”

Iana laughed and hugged Mith tightly. “Did I make the right choice?” the wolf-girl asked, no laughter in her voice.

“Yes,” Mith said, her voice a little choked. Her eyes had landed upon the first picture that had been taken of her and Iana, thirteen years ago when 267 had showed up and all-but shoved the little wolf-girl at her. That little girl was so different from the young woman hugging her, but there was still a lot of that little girl left. “I’m very proud of you, Iana, for being able to make that decision without being forced. You turned out all right after all.”

“That’s because I was raised right,” Iana whispered. “And that’s why I’m so willing to give my child up… D-Corp chooses good parents; otherwise I would not have had a mother like you.” Then the wolf-girl kissed Mith on the cheek and darted away, leaving her adoptive mother to bask in the warmth of knowing that she had done a good job. And to drop off to sleep before five minutes had gone by.
Okay...So Why Twins?

Because twins are awesome, and wolves are pack creatures so (since a whole pack isn't really possible) twins would get along better than just a lone wolf child.

And co-owning for a single child wouldn't really make sense, now would it? blaugh
