One day, Aquavita was walking along the path she normally did,
when she was off to pick flowers. The flowers here seemed to
grow in abundance, and nobody knew why, it was just along this
path, which seemed to have once been an old streambed.
Continuing to stroll through, she looked with a critical eye at
the surrounding blossoms, who weren't quite up to her
standards, as she ignored them with a slightly offended air. A
few of them were good enough, and she carefully pruned them
off, wrapped them, and placed them in her basket. Then she
continued on down the path.
However, suddenly, she saw the most gorgeous rose bush! It had
blood red roses, which were perfectly bloomed, and just ripe to
be cut! Hands trembling slightly at this wonderous find, Aqua
cut a single rose from the bush, but her hands betrayed her,
and it dropped into the dirt. Almost sobbing at this
destruction of beauty, as she was very emotional, Aqua took the
rose, and continued down the road, looking for someplace to
wash it.
Happening upon a cave, where she heard the give-away of a plip
plop of water, Aqua hesitatingly entered, careful not to trip
and fall, and creeped over towards the sound. Entering a small
cavern that had a natural skylight, she noticed the shimmer of
a pool of still water in the center of the 'room'. Going over
to it and kneeling, Aqua meticulously bathed the rose, as if it
were a sensitive child. She was very careful with her flowers,
they were her babies after all! She noticed a slight glow when
the rose touched the water, but dismissed it as a trick of the
light.
When all the dirt was off, and the beautiful rose had drops of
dew still shining on it, Aqua stalked back down the ancient
road, back to her house. The rest of her day passed without any
more exciting happenings, and she sold a few bouquets of
flowers. But she kept the rose hidden, as she didn't want to
sell it, it seemed somehow... precious to her.
That night, Aqua fell asleep, and had a dream of the rose as a
small stream of water hit it, and shimmering sparkles of light
surrounded it, as it changed. When the light faded, a beautiful
red headed child lay there quietly, with soft green leaf-wings.
Awakening with a start, Aqua stared at the former rose, which
had become the child in her dream. Blinking furiously to make
sure she was awake, she could only stare.
And that was just the beginning of the Aquini...
