MAP - Market Average Pricer

MAP - Market Average Pricer
(Built in price guide for the Marketplace)
Proposal
Put simply
The Market Average Pricer or MAP would be an extension to the 'store price' feature shown when purchasing an item off of the market place, that would show users the 'highest, lowest, and average' price of any item not sold in stores, which would be updated every 7 days.
The Details:
Purpose
To provide buyers with a tool for comparing a seller's price to the market average.
Detailed Proposal
Gaia admins have wisely added the Store Price line to Market Place item descriptions. This information can be used by potential buyers to determine whether a seller is offering the item at a fair price.
Unfortunately, for items that are not offered in stores, potential buyers have no basis for comparison.
The proposed Market Average Price (MAP) would provide potential buyers with much-needed information. The MAP would consist of three pieces of information:
- the highest price at which that item sold during the previous week,
- the lowest price at which that item sold during the previous week,
- the average sale price for that item during the previous week, and
- the number of that item sold during the previous week
Why a week? That is in order to show a trend rather than a snap-shot of an item's price.
It is important to note that the MAP information is based on actual price paid for completed sales. This eliminates unrealistic prices posted by uninformed or unscrupulous sellers.
The information could be obtained easily by using Queries to retrieve information from Gaia's databases.
Benefits
- It allows buyers to make informed decisions before purchasing.
- It gives sellers a tool for determining appropriate prices, based on actual demand.
