It's so unoriginal it's original.

Anyway, this is the thing I've been working on in the ninjar lair. ninja

It was originally supposed to be a side-scrolling profile, but after people complained about the "weirdness", I changed it.

Comments, suggestions, critisisms, rates? =3

I fixed the text and the multimedia, Eli! xd ninja

[edit: For once the flash is smaller filesize than the background image! rofl ]

Which one is better?

The vertical version has some random white space in it, I think I may be able to fill it up by putting my avatar there.

It's a little wide, but I don't mind.
I really like how it's got the Gaia Banner in it too xD

The wishlist doesn't seem to work though D:
Maybe up the z-index?

I LOVE the concept. But I feel from an execution point of view, the design is a bit lacking. I'm really a**l about things lining up, especially if there's something linear about the objects, like the scrollbars. In my eyes, those should line up somehow, either along the top or along the bottom, or both. In this case, I'd recommend pulling at least the bottom of the about section up, because then it would line up more with the comments and the GSC image smile

Also alot of the blurriness bothers me. The grunge should be more sharp, a good contrast between the white and the grung, not the blue in between. And same with the text. Gaia doesn't use any sort of inner glow/blurry filter on the inside of the text.

And my only qualm about the AWESOME navigation bar thingy is that I wish the boxes were spaced more evenly xd

So yeah, great concept, but it could use some cleaning up heart User Image

Only the last two items have a hover.
The other 4 don't react when I hover the mouse over them.

The awkwardness of how short the side-scroller is doesn't bother you? That's been my main thing.
I was thinking about making it a long profile instead, maybe stretching the comments down the entire page, and have the GSC below the about section.

But then I'd have to redo the header. gonk

Eddafred: What browser are you using? The way I did the about sections(the Gaia header links back to Gaia; it's an about ol), it covers up some of the wishlist(which would explain why it wouldn't hover).
But it hovered fine when I was testing it in FF and IE. 0_o

well obviously I'd rather it worked without scrolling on 800x600 xd but it doesn't scroll sideways in my browser, and the only reason it scrolls lengthwise is because I've got my firefox window shortened xp

and as for the buttons... they don't make it so you can just select the object and move it over a certain number of pixels from the one before? that's how I get all my spacing when I want to be sure I have even spacing... I line objects up end to end, and then count as I move one over a certain number of pixels, and then do the same to the next one in line xd

but I've only used flash really to re-color xspf players xd xd xd User Image

I line objects up end to end, and then count as I move one over a certain number of pixels, and then do the same to the next one in line xd

I may be doing it wrong, but this is how I made those buttons.

Imported two bitmaps. They were both the extended item list, tools1 was the buttons in 'standby' mode, tools2 was what the buttons looked like when hovered over.

If you go into flash, and aren't converting naything to symbols, you can put the bitmap on the canvas, and copy it over a few times, and the right click and hit "Swap bitmap".. Which is what I did for the main timeline, to make sure everything was ultimately lined up.

But after that, I had to right click -> Break apart, so I could make the individual squares buttons... And then I just kind of had to eye it for the hover actions. X|

I'm sure if I had made every square it's own image and imported a ******** of bitmaps, it probably would've turned out better... But I'm too lazy for that, and the initial line-up would've been harder. X|

I just wish things in Flash would "Snap to" even after you break them apart. X|

Edit: -after playing with the bar a few times- Ohh. EVERYTHING jumps. THAT one's easier to fix than what I was initially thinking. I'll work on it later. :3

Okay, I redid it and the multimedia. Everything shoudl be fixed now.

The about ol thing was causing too many problems, so the "Gaia" part no longer links back to the homepage. In trying to fix that, I realised that.. BBCode is disabled in #profile .caption! How lame is that? It would've solved all my problems if were enabled.

Anyway, the layout is vertical now, while still being slightly small. Is it less awkward at this point?

Aaand... If you still get sidescrolling, that's because of the wishlist. I'm fixing that very soon. XP
