The Holiday Event has begun...
in·spi·ra·tion, noun,
1. Stimulation of the mind or emotions to a high level of feeling or activity.
2. The condition of being so stimulated.
3. Something, such as a sudden creative act or idea, that is inspired.

Also, a place. Home to scattered and unfinished thoughts, unformed ideas and unrealized dreams. They’ve gathered together since the beginning of thought and eventually, life formed. Strange, intangible beings.

Muses.

The muses were beautiful, brilliant, and powerful; also petty, vain, and most of all possessive.

They gathered together like the thoughts before them, the first sentient life on Inspiration; and from their sentience, came Society. And with Society, came a king.

The first king (always a king, for muses have no definite form) created the System; pairing up muses and creative charges, allowing the muses to absorb more than enough creative energy to survive without depleting their homeland.

Though the muses were jealous with each other and protective of their charges, the System worked, as muses would move on from a charge unable to creative without fuss. Everything was calm.

And then the King vanished.

The muses went into turmoil, faced with the first real crisis since they realized their home was deteoriating. Inspiration was in an uproar, and the worlds Outside found themselves struck by sudden bouts and blocks of creativity.

Finally, a new King rose and everything was calm once more. Until that King disappeared, and Inspiration was thrust into tumult yet again, until another King took control. The pattern continued, and was eventually regarded as just another sort of System. For a long while, Inspiration was peaceful.

Until someone found a crack.

A particularly small young muse, who managed squeeze through without notice, sensing their charge nearby. A small muse, yes, but large enough to widen the crack slightly. Just enough that another muse could now sense their charge and find the crack. And it was widened again, only by a margin, as another muse left Inspiration.

And another, and another, but not quite enough for someone to notice. Not yet.

-9.11.06 Our first flatsale has finally ended! Congratulations confused_often and Lady Mirage!
-8.10.06 The flatsale thread has been set up!
-7.28.06 Story and banners are up!
-6.12.06 Setting up--a good portion done!

-As usual, follow the Gaian TOS.
-Behave.
-Only one muse per person; too much inspiration can be dangerous. Twins may be a different story...
-Roleplay and Journals are required. End of story.
-No begging; it's annoying and pathetic and will get you nowhere.
-Patience. We all have lives, but your muse will grow. The only reason you have to be worried is if you've been waiting over a month for your Item or Creation to grow. Then you can PM the mule any concerns.
-PM the mule with any concerns, questions, contest/flatsale entries, anything to do with the shop. Pester the staff and you will be greylisted.

Q. Can I co-own?
A. Currently--no. Later--We'll see.

Q. So much fun! I want another one!
A. No. Sorry, only one per person. How much inspiration do you need, really?

Q. I'm poor. crying Can I have a free one?
A. No. If you want one, either save up or wait for a free contest(very rare.) If you get a free pet that means I have to pay the artists out of my own pocket. Whatever you may think, I'm not rich. Really.

Q. Will you pet trade with me?
A. That depends on the pet and who it's with. Just remember they may not always be offering. The artists will have to draw it on their own and the owner(sadly lacking in art skills) will have to pay out of her own pocket. They may not always have the time and she may not always have the gold. Be patient.

Q. Your shop sucks!! And so do you!!!
A. That's nice. Go away now.

Q. ZOMG!!!1! so kewl!! i want 1!!
A. No. I don't care if you've got the best grammar in the world when RPing, if you can't type correctly out of character you can't have one.

Q. Okay then, can I have one please?
A. Better, but check the availability post before you ask. If there's nothing going on, then there is nothing going on.

The Workshop

[Description & Link Coming]

Workshop Rules
-It's been said before but I'll say it again; Roleplaying is required, as is keeping up a journal in the Guild.
-No god-modding, powerplaying, etc. This includes from your muse and your own character(s).
-Absolutely no killing a muse or owner--even if they say it's alright--unless they're planning to leave Gaia for good. Then you work it out with a staff member, preferably KamiraKi.
-Post at least once a month in the shop thread or in a RP thread(this includes journal) and at least one RP post every three months(keep in mind this is the bare minimum). If you don't without PMing the mule about a hiatus, you'll get one warning before your muse is taken.
-Occasionally you'll get a prompt from the mule in your journal. This will be important in some way, so don't ignore it.
-Your other pets and children are welcome to be involved; this will be based mainly in Gaia anyway.
-Keep in mind that IC and OOC are two different things; don't get mad at a user for something their character or muse said to you in an RP.
-Lurkers are welcome but please wait until someone says it's okay.
-When RPing your muse, there are a few things to keep in mind.
--They don't have solid memories of their past lives. They may have the odd, muddled flashback; strange, unexpected emotions can come up when they meet up with a muse they may have known previously; and sometimes they'll somehow know things about yourself you've never told them. They won't know why, or how, so you shouldn't press the issue. The memories will come back in time. Probably.
--They cannot create. They can inspire, they can copy, they can use tools, but they cannot be original or creative.
--The younger they are, the less they can control their inspiration. People around them can occasionally get headaches or frustrated if exposed too long.
--Your child will gain powers, usually devoloping late toddler, early child stage and growing from then on. They will be related to their main Inspiration, and there will always be limitations.
--These are not pets. These are children; treat them as such.
--More to come, check back often. Read the Growth post for more details on the individual stages.

Item: Your muse has found it's way into the world of Gaia and immediately seeks you out. Unfortuantely, the Muse can't contact you in their intangible form. They need solid forms, and so they find an item that you value, and that can used in the creation of something, not necassarily "art", as long as it takes imagination. There they wait, absorbing and storing your creative energy. You may feel a "block", unable to make anything you really feel is good or original.
Age: Doesn't really matter...
Minimum Time: One-Two Days

User Image
Creation: In a burst of creativity, you take your item and use it to create masterpiece; or at least, something that makes you proud. The technical skill may vary, but each of these Creations is amazingly vivid, almost alive somehow. Sometimes you'd swear it moves...
You may get a call from a certain workshop sometime at this point.
Age: Doesn't really matter...
Minimum Time: One Work Week

User Image
Toddler: Some kid just crawled out of your Creation! A young child, a toddler really, he/she can barely speak at first and relies on you for most of their needs. You may or may not have been expecting this, depending on if you have visited the Workshop yet, but either way, it's here and seems to have a strange attachment to a certain item you own(wait, isn't that what you used to make the Creation...?), refusing to let it out of their sight at first. They could care less about the Creation that "birthed" them, strangely enough.
Age: Two to Six
Minimum Time: One Month

User Image
Child: Your little Toddler is now a Child! Able to speak, walk, and use motor skills with relative ease, he/she is on their first step toward independence. They even seem less attached to their item-somewhat. More social perhaps, the Child is now more interested in things and people outside of the home, or at least, they're now able to explore with some freedom. The Child will often start trying to create on their own, usually with less than satisfactory results. Some effects from their previous lives in the world of Inspiration may arise.
Age: Eight to Twelve
Minimum Time: One Month

User Image
Teen: Not much is known about this stage at the moment.

User Image
Adult: Not much is known about this stage at the moment.

Adult-->???
???

Send this form to Lady Landlord(not a staff member) once you've fulfilled at least the minimum requirements and you feel your muse is ready. Remember, you don't have to grow once you've RPed the minimum and you can still RP with your muse even after you've sent the form.
You have to send in the form for your Muse to grow! Even if you've completed the requirements, the artist won't be able to start drawing the next stage until you send the form!

Also, don't expect a quest the day after you send the form. The artist will draw your next stage before you get a quest. Remember, any changes in your muse's appearance must have been RPed before you sent this form!
Quote:

Muse: The name of your muse, obviously.
Next stage: If you want your Child to grow, type Teen, and aso on.
Mood: Only for the humanoid stages(toddler and above); how is your muse feeling at the moment? Frustrated, happy, depressed, shy, etc. Be creative, but we're not asking for a pose.
Clothing: Only for humanoid stages(toddler and above); how is your muse's style? Does he/she have a favorite shirt/necklace/etc.? Did they get their ears pierced, get a tattoo, anything like that? What state are their clothes usually in? Tidy, dirty, torn, etc.
Hair: New haircut recently? A favorite style, did they have it died? If it's a new haircut, do they like it?
Anything else: Anything not covered by the above, maybe a favorite toy, a nervous habit(nail biting, hair twisting), a hobby.

Age: 16
Position(IC): Assistant Manager of the Workshop
Position(OOC): Owner, Manager, All around Mistress of the shop
Bio: Kamira has been distracted lately from her mission to find a way back home by her growing family and life on Gaia, and, more recently, by the sudden responsibility and mystery of the Workshop. Though she dislikes Lady Landlord and resents her for dragging her into this, she stays involved for the sake of her own Muse, and curiosity.

Name: Lady Landlord
Username: Lady Landlord
Age: Unknown--looks somewhere around her late-twenties, early-thirties.
Position(IC): Manager & Owner of the Workshop
Position(OOC): Our lovely mule and NPC
Bio: Currently the woman spends her time wandering, looking for artists and who knows what else. Occasionally she'll return to check up on things and spend some time making the employees miserable. She's rarely seen being serious, and tends brush off questions she doesn't want to answer, not really caring about anyone else's opinion but her own. She seems to have a soft spot for the Muses.

Position(OOC): Main Artist; Lineart Only
Bio: Amai is fairly secretive, which is why he goes by 'Amai' instead of his real name. He doesn't really mind the other people at the Workshop, but he's not usually thrilled about talking to customers. He loves being around the muses though. He's quite fond of animals, music and [secretly] plushies.
