Jan 25th: (Hakuo ish t3h smexx! xd ) There's a Valentine's Day RP event coming up, and a little birdie told me that a Familiar is up for grabs! Refer to the Events post for more information.

It wasn't long ago that this land formed from ash and dust, wind and rain. No, not long ago at all. Before the storm, there was nothing at all. Just...nothing. Then, with a flash of light, it was here: Haro Island. It was not ominous to look at, in fact it seemed rather plain. The water lapped against the land with lazy repetition, ebbing and flowing. It went on this way for days, maybe months. Then the noises began, soft at first, then growing as the days past by. Some thought the land was alive, a breathing creature. Some thought it was a place that the Gods had forsaken, sending the outcasts of their plane to the lonely island. And then there were the few, the ones that dared to land upon its wretched shores. These would come back changed men. They never spoke of what happened, until one. He came across the shores, his face pale and gaunt.

"It wasn't human, this I know" We waited with baited breath for him to continue. "In the land, by the shores, there were orbs that glowed ominously. Within each, a life, like a child, in the center. There were others. There were so many others" He shuddered and walked away.

It was strange how the Island would change a man...

After time, we grew used to the sounds, and we moved on. People still went, and came back changed. Then there was one, Harowiin. She walked onto the land and delved deep into its core. She was gone for days. Upon her return, she spoke of amazing things, evil children with creatures that followed them, she too spoke of the orbs. But it was the witches that surprised us all. The land was split in four: North, South, East and West. Each land ruled by a guardian witch, a keeper of their own domain. There was a time when she saw the witches as she hid deep in the underbrush. There was no harmony on this Island.

Two days later, the young woman disappeared. That was how this Island got its name... for Harowiin was never seen again.

Stage One - You have a little baby.. Lolli-pop. Yes. Candy. A pet? Why of course. For this is no ordinary lolli-pop. It's "enchanted"; magical. You really can't roleplay a lolli-pop though, can you? For that reason, it is not necessary to roleplay this stage, for it's impossible anyhow. However, coming to the thread and posting will effect how long this stage lasts.
Stage Duration: Two-Four Weeks

[Stage One Image Comming]

Stage Two - They are children now. The wonderful ways of the lolli-pop. There is no known "baby stage". As children are, very mischievious, and then, very sweet at times. Not all monsters rein with hell --however they do have their moments.
Stage Duration: About Three Weeks

Stage Three - They are teens now, and just like any teen, their lives are full of angst, drama, heart break, and the occasional trouble making. What else are teens about?
Stage duration: About Four Weeks

Stage Four - They are adults and aren't as delinquent as the children are, but they do have thier own fun sometimes.
Stage duration: Forever?

What monster doesn't have some sort of ability?

Flatsale-d / Raffle-d Harowiin monsters: they have pre-determined abilities, which means the abilities will be repeated commonly amongst other pets.

Custom Harowiin monsters: The abilities will be chosen from the list below by the winner of the auction or special events, such as a roleplaying events made especially for those that don't already own a pet.

Complete custom Harowiin monsters: these could be acquired if the auction reached a certain amount of bid. The abilities for this class of monsters would be completely unique - in other words, you make up your own ability! Keep in mind, though, you will need to make up all three levels of the abilities... we're not creative enough to do that.

Once your pet's ability is distinguished it will never change, and no, you may not bribe us into changing it. > >;

How do abilities work?
During the Lolli-pop stage your monster has no ability. Once your monster has changed from Lolli-pop to Child, your Child will gain his or her first ability. Just like the Harowiin's, there will be three stages of abilities (okay, so maybe there are four stages to a Harowiin...)

For example:
Bomb Throw >> Land Mine >> TNT
Child >> Teen >> Adult

Once your monster is an adult, they will not have just one ability, but all three. However, on their Tag their final ability will be the only one listed (not enough tag room...). But in roleplaying, or whatever, feel free to use all three.

Abilities Discovered

oOo {A} Bomb Throw: Pretty self-explanatory. Small bombs with wicks, much like a candle. Light that baby up, but watch out before the wick burns out! Throw it fast!
oOo {B} Land Mines: Lets the username lay land mines and makes things alot more easy to attack the other Harowiin.
oOo {C} TNT:

oOo {A} Teleportation: Bad date? Leave your date stunned when you teleport away! An awesome skill if you get into trouble and you're about to get caught, but, bam! You're gone. However, Teleportation is limited at this stage: you can only teleport up to a mile away. Sucks for you, better hope that the enemy doesn't have a car.
oOo {B} ???

Wouldn't it be lovely to have your pet skip a stage? Go back a stage? Switch genders? Or, God forbid, breed? :'D Yes, it would.

Newt's Eye
It is rumored that if a pet eats this.. disgusting.. smelly old newt's eye that it will change genders! Then again.. look at all the Newt's running around with no eyes!

I heard that if you slap your pet over the head with this fragile decaying bone, that it will damage some brain function, and your pet will suddenly stop growing, and stay in it's current stage forever!

Love Letter
'I love you so... You are my only, forever together.'
It is said giving this letter to your lover will allow breeding. Permission from each pet owner is required. Adult stage of both partners is required.

Roleplaying is an important part of the Harowiin pets. Yes, it is mandatory, but it is quite a relaxed system. It does effect your pet's growth, i.e. if no roleplay is done, then no growth for your pet.

An alternative to roleplaying is journal keeping. Journals are located at the shop guild, and the link to your pets' journal could be found at the Owners' post. They free to every owner, and is very much encouraged, as it keeps an individual record of your pets' development.

The minimum requirements for roleplaying here at Harowiin are stated as below:

Lolli-pop - Semi-active. Since Lolli-pops can't be roleplayed with, at least show your face once a month. Journals are encouraged.
Child - Semi-active. At least one good-lengthed roleplay per month. At least one journal entry per month.
Teen - Semi-active. At least two good-lengthed roleplay per month. At least two journal entries per month.
Adult - Semi active. At least two good-lengthed roleplay per month. At least two journal entries per month.

Special roleplay events are held once in a while to encourage interactive roleplaying here at Harowiin. Sometimes a familiar could be obtained from these events. Stay tuned to the Events post for more information on that.

General (Thread) Rules

1. All art work here is done by LucKy CLover. If you are caught using her artwork without proper (written) permission, you will be banned from the thread and reported to Gaian Moderators.
2. Do not flame or attempt to start fights at the thread. You will get ignored, unless it gets very serious.
3. Pets are not free, and will never be, so begging for them would be uneeded stress for your fingers.
4. Please read the whole front page, even the stuff that may not concern you. Most likely it will answer whatever question you may have.
5. Create a friendly environment for all pet owners and shop lurkers.
6. Refrain from PMing any of the shop staff personally, unless they specifically said you could. It is okay to PM the shop mule (Harowiin Magic) if there is a more personal problem, but the replies may not be prompt as we don't check this account very often.

Sales Rules
Flatsale price is 12k; auction starting bid is 12k.

1. You may only apply for one Lolli-pop. Remember to state which one you want.
2. You may not enter for a friend.
3. If you are chosen for the pet you applied for, send the trade right away.
4. Do not use mules - if caught you'll be banned.
5. Discouraging others during sales, or any other time in our thread, is completely forbidden.
6. In an auction, only bid what you have! Bids are not allowed to be retracted.
7. The ending time for an auction may be changed at the discretion of the owners.
8. Don't rush the staff member to finish your pet. We all have a life outside Gaia, and those would be out first priority. When your pet is tagged and completed, we will PM you via the shop mule.

General FAQ

May I be a shop staff?
We will most likely appoint thread regulars for the positions of shop staff. Otherwise there would be hiring threads or contests for other positions.

Can I own more then one Harowiin?
No, if you already own a Harowiin. Yes, if you are co-owning with another owner, but if you're not active with your current co-owned Harowiin, you will not be allowed to own another one.

Sales FAQ

How many Lolli-pops are in a flatsale?
Usually 2-4, but that may vary with each sale.

How do flatsales work here?
Flatsales usually lasts for a few days. There will be a prompt or questionaire, and those who wish to attend will have a few days to complete it. We will then pick the best answers and contact the winners through PM.

What do I do next?
Send the trade immediately and reply the notification PM with the details of your pet. Keep watching the Pick-up post for your pet - we will not PM them to you.

How many Lolli-pops can I enter for in a flatsale?
One only. If you don't get that one, you cannot opt for another one, so choose wisely!

Who are the judges for flatsales?
Shop staff, and in some cases, experienced Harowiin owners that frequent the thread.

Do you accept Sealed Letters for flatsales?
Yes, 2 Sealed Letters of the current month.

Are there going to be auctions?
Of course. Auctions are a common way to get rare Harowiin monsters, but if you're low on funds, keep lurking for a flatsale or other events - they will be more common than auctions.

Do you do pet trades?
Most likely, no. We are busy people, and we don't want to neglect your hard work. Post any pet trade offers in the thread anyway.

Roleplay/Journals FAQ

Are the pets allowed to fight in a roleplay?
Yes, it is okay, just as long a) one doesn't kill the other, b) it doesn't effect your personal relationship with the owner, and c) the problems eventually gets solved in the end through common understanding.

Are we allowed to roleplay OCs? (OC=Original Characters! Not Orange County or Open Canvas!)
Yes, it's allowed, just as long your Harowiin pet is still the main focus of the roleplay. You can roleplay your pet interacting with the OC in your journal, for example. If you ARE choosing to roleplay your OC with the Harowiin pets, please introduce your character in your journal (with a bio or whatever, it doesn't matter).

Breeding FAQ

If two different races breed, will the offsprings come out to one of the parents or a mixed race?
It depends, some might turn to be the same race as their parents and some might be a mixed race - all depends on luck.
