~ Petition to Create a Password Protected Storage Locker~
No new news. Though since I did just add more signatures, I'd like to again note that we made 1000 yes ONE THOUSAND signatures on May 12th, thanks everyone!
Many people have been and do get hacked on Gaia. It's a sad but true tale.
While some of those who have been hacked lose permanent access to their accounts, many others return to find themselves with a depleted if not empty inventory and most if not all of their gold gone.
Wouldn't it be nice if there was AT LEAST one extra buffer against those who gain access to our account?
Thankfully there is a way Gaia can help us. While my idea is not full proof, it is an easy suggestion that once in place could help many Gaians everywhere.
Most of us are aware that when we organize our inventory that there is a "Storage Locker."* Now, personally, I've never really seen the point to having a storage locker when it has the same purpose (and easy access) as my inventory has. So here is where I propose my idea(s):
1. Gaia should have that storage locker be password protected (I'm debating whether or not having it have a password should be optional but either way). Everyone should be required to set a password that would be different than their account password on their storage, therefore, having an extra buffer against people who have access to their accounts.
2. We should be allowed to add gold to our storage (only of course if it's password protected.) There are Gaians out there walking around with Millions! Imagine the devastation if someone got a hold of their account. Even for those of us (such as myself) who aren't as fortunate to have quite that amount of gold, do we really want to be walking Gold targets? It doesn't stop us from saving gold, just gives us a place to safely store it until it is needed.
3. NEW!: Since for whatever reason, this needs to be said AGAIN: the password would have to be different than the users log in. Granted, I am unsure if Gaia could guarantee this, but perhaps they could put a helpful hint like they do when warning you about what information not to give out. I assumed this to be fairly obvious, but so many people have "suggested" it that I figured I'd make it one of my key points.
4. NEW!: Before changing the storage password, it would have to be verified in some manner first. Possibly through e-mail, a security question, or both. This idea I hadn't thought of and have taken from many users who have thrown out suggestions. Thanks guys!
Now, I am COMPLETELY aware of the one flaw that my system is cursed with. It does not protect against the often precious items that the person is wearing. Or the gold they choose to have with them.
This is true, but think of this, despite what we wear and how valuable it is, many of us have other items that we'd just rather not see stolen either. And should we not, at the very least, have a safer protection against those items?
Sign if you know someone that has been hacked but could have saved some items or gold.
Sign if you would like to feel safer knowing that some of your inventory and gold can now be extra protected against the scumbags who try to take it from you.
Sign if you have any feeling that this is a good idea.

P.S. I'd love thumbs ups too if you wouldn't mind. whee

RULES! And suggestions.
1. Please do not quote either of the beginning posts I've made. All of them are significant in size and it does nothing but clog the page. =(
2. Do not PM me that you have signed. I need people to sign ON the thread. Not only to show Gaia who has signed and that I am not just putting random names on the list, but also if I have to be gone again and I lose your PM.
3. You can PM me with questions though.
4. If I have not added your banner (because I missed it when I was gone) please repost or PM me and I will add it ASAP.
