I must not fear
Fear is the mind-killer
Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration
I will face my fear
I will permit it to pass over me and through me
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing
Only I will remain

- The Bene Gesserit Littainy against Fear, Dune

This is an art request thread for several of my roleplaying characters, because hey, I got some gold, might as well do something with it. Most of the characters live pretty gritty lives of blood and death, so hopefully artists that come here will be able to do art that reflects that aspect.

And yeah, I know. Some artists are picky as to what they do, so there are character bios posted up. And for those who dont really care and just want to make some gold, then they could skip all of that. Personal preference and all.

Also, I'm pretty picky, I have a lot of respect for people that can do very good abstract, dynamic, and 'ugly' styles pretty well. The pretty stuff is fine, but diversity and uniqueness is good. Lineart and sketchy stuff is also good as well.

Forms and Funds

Personally, I prefer if these were displayed in quote windows so that they are easy to find in pages of text. Additionally, I request that all entries are to be put in basic black text as small fonts in combinations of light coloured text hurts my eyes and I might not even bother looking over it. So, I would appreciate it if submissions or whatever you want to call it was made in this format.

Tzenidaar, the Chimera

Tzenidaar is, I suppose, my newest character. He is a being created from multiple cells of different people, essentially a clone made up of multiple cells that has developed its own sort of collective consciousness. The clothing doesnt change much, so if you do decide to draw him, try not to stray from the listed appearance.

Quote:
Name: N/A User Image
Alias: Tzenidaar
Race: Chimera-clone
Age: 1 (Oct 31)
Height: 185 cm
Weight: 117 kg
Eye Color: Mixed; variable (right eye), pitch black (left eye)
Hair Color: Black
Complexion: Fair
Gender: Male
Class: Quasi-wilder
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Patron Deity: None (Luck)
Weapons/Armor/Equipment: Enchanted two handed sword (Zirandubar), left shoulder guard, throat guard, bracers, greaves
Appearance: Tzenidaar appears very muscular man in his mid twenties with a body decorated by scars, though with two very distinct traits; his left eye, which is pitch black, from the sclera to the pupil, and the skeletal membrane-less wings on his back that jutt from his shoulder blades. His complexion is a fair colour, slightly tanned due to regular exposure to the sun and most of his black hair is either short or of medium length, where the back is made into a thin semi-long pony tail. His eyes are set underneath slightly jutting brows and the colour of his right eye seems to vary, usually his iris sports a grey, blue, or green base while there are speckles of red, gold, and black within it. Tzenidaar has thin tight lips over his wide mouth, but even so, his face shows emotions freely as opposed to someone who has something to hide.

His clothing is quite odd in itself. He wears a black shirt with the sleeves torn off as evident with the frayed edges and loose brown pants. However, the bottoms of his pants are tucked into boots that cover his knees and are lined with metal on its soles, shins and sides. His waist is adorned with a large white sash wrapped around it, the largest part of the cloth falling over his left thigh, while the ends of the cloth are tied at his right hip. His abdomen is covered by soft leather which softens some blows to an extent. Around his neck is a large metal collar which is high enough to hide his mouth, and on his left shoulder, a shoulder guard, both sitting on his shoulders and chest, kept in place with leather straps. His arms of course, are bare except for the simple metal bracers which cover his forearms and the strip of metal on his right bicep; the left bracer is additionally armoured to provide more protection.

Tzenidaar carried with him a massive single edged sword, nothing more than a giant sharpened piece of metal everywhere he goes openly, having no scabbard of sheath for the weapon. Its design is simple, the cutting surface almost straight but for a slight concave curve, the backing of the blade though, is thick, straight, and heavy, providing power in a swing. The cloth wrapped handle of the sword is long, easily encompassing enough length for four hands worth. This actually provides a larger area of control for Tzenidaar as it gives him more options to the way he handles the weapon.
Personality: Tzenidaar’s appearance is somewhat demonic, due to the skeletal wing bones and his pitch black eye. However, ironically, his personality is completely different to his appearance. This is because, though he was created to be a powerful entity used for purely evil purposes, reflected in his appearance, his own defiant will clashes with this fact and sets it apart.

If not for his condition, Tzenidaar would be a relatively normal person, but because of this, he is not. Tzenidaar’s mindset and personality is, like he is, a complete mix of each and every individual’s which contributed to his creation. This makes him relatively bi-polar when it comes to conflicting interests. He has a strong sense of justice and cause to help others, but on the other hand, in his darker subconscious, he looks out for himself and his own personal advancement in any form first and foremost. Most distinctly about him though, is that his emotions are erratic and unstable and he is not very good at keeping them in check; he’s extremely quick to react, taking insults in full, whether they are imagined or not, sometimes cooling off seconds later, or even laughing as if it was a simple joke told by the original offender.

Zirandubar

Zirandubar is a sword of joint elven and dwarven make. The design and practicality is dwarven in nature, however, the materials it is composed of is from an elven source. However, even so, it was not created to be wielded by either dwarven or elven hands, but human hands, for the size alone is too great for a dwarf, and the large and crude design is unusual for graceful elven fencing. Additionally, there are enchantments placed on the weapon from all three races.

The sword Zirandubar weighs somewhere around 34 kg and measures a total of 200 cm in length, the hilt measures 46 cm, while the blade measures 154 cm. The entire weapon is made of a single piece of mithril, a very strong silver coloured metal of elven make, though it is not polished and the blade lacks luster. The long handle of the weapon is wrapped in white bandages for a better grip. The cutting surface of the blade is the longest part of the weapon and exhibits a slightly concaved curve, whereas the backing of the blade is very thick and heavy. The blade’s edge is angled at forty-five degrees on either side, giving the cutting surface a perfect right angle. For this reason, the blade is not considered sharp by regular standards, however, its weight alone easily provides enough force to cause the heavy blade to tear through flesh and armour easily. Essentially, it appears similar to a giant meat cleaver, dull compared to other blades, but its weight and sheer size alone allows it to crush and tear through even tempered steel with little resistance.

Zirandubar recognizes Tzenidaar as its true owner, as its first encounter against an enemy showed that the man was well versed in the use of a two handed sword, especially the fact of its great weight and size without hesitation of lack of skill against greater odds and without lack of courage. Additionally, it sensed a great power within him, even if the man himself knows little of it. Perhaps it was these factors which affected the weapon’s choice of a master, or maybe it was that the weapon had been lying in a lifeless room for too long and was grateful for the man’s actions to put it back into action.

Zirandubar possesses minor sentience and has six enchantments placed upon it; three from the dwarves which forged the weapon, two from elves which created the material, and one from humans who now wields the blade.

Decruda Blackvale, the Defiler

Ah... Evil characters are always great. And what better than a semi-psychotic necromancer? This guy's been around for a while, and he does some pretty bad things. Truly one bad assed sumnabitch. Decruda is of course, a master of disguise. His appearance and clothes change frequently, so if you draw him, you more or less have full artistic freedom in clothing design. The main thing however with all the different faces he may have are that his eyes are always inverted.

Quote:
Name: Decruda Blackvale User Image
Alias: The Defiler
Race: Human - Tainted - Clone
Age: 27
Height: 177 cm
Weight: 83 kg
Eye Color: Black, Inverted
Hair Color: Ebony
Complexion: Fair
Gender: Male
Class: Necrotic Spellsword, Former Ranger
Alignment: Neutral Evil
Patron Deity: Orcus
Weapons/Armor/Equipment: Enchanted Scimitar (Corpse Cutter), glass dagger, blowgun, leather armor, leather satchel, several vials, spell components in various small pouches, spell book, scroll cases, embalming potions, secret chest
Appearance: Decruda is literally a man of a thousand faces, highly skilled in the fell art of grafting, he may change his face by taking those of others, preserving them, and wearing them as masks, but his inverted eyes always remain the same unless hidden under a magical guise. His medium length hair is generally dark, as are his clothes, which clash against his fair skin which does not see the light of day as often as it should. He wears a midnight colored leather vest embroidered with a leering skull in its front overtop of a single sleeved shirt, and usually is cloaked in black. The shirt beneath the leather armour is similar to a mage’s robe; the single sleeve over his left arm is large and inlaid with runes while the bottom part of the shirt partially drapes down over the upper portion of his legs. His right arm however, though missing a sleeve, has a long strip of bristly animal fur connected to it by bands of black leather with small silver pins around his arm and ending at his wrist, where a silver bracelet inlaid with blood red runes are located.

Though his body may appear whole, this not true. During his tainting, a ritual to infuse the essence of a fiend into his body, he lost his left arm, as well as his left leg. This disfigurement is counteracted by his grafting ability, perfected by it, which he may take preserved limbs of fresh corpses to replace such limbs or discard them as needed. Also, he commonly replaces the space of his left arm with that of a ghoul’s, giving him a natural claw weapon which may paralyze those struck by it.

He wears his weapons and equipment very plainly. On his belt are countless pouches filled with spell components, and hanging from that, are scroll cases, and a single larger pouch which contains potions and his spellbook. The glass dagger is carried in a scabbard at his left hip, and his scimitar is located at his right side, closer to his back.

With the destruction of his original body though, now inhabiting that of a clone, his body is completely whole, except he has removed his own face so that his grafting and disguises remain a possibility. If ever he should lose his natural limbs however, he would care little to reattach them so that he may once again graft artificial limbs.
Personality: Unlike many of the typical rangers one usually sees, Decruda was always different. He was less serious and ‘hardened’ like many others, but he made up for that by being very naturally talented. Oddly enough, he is a very civilized person, speaking with etiquette whether he tells the truth, or lies, which he seems to be able to do rather well.

Deceptive and cunning, his small and minor actions which are often ignored by many and thought to be idle usually play together into a large well thought out plan. This is actually because he is very intelligent, very likely a genius. And he knows this. In fact, he may even appear quite arrogant at times with a superiority complex, quite often underestimating others. However, the casual air he surrounds himself in is only another front to hide his scheming mind; subjects are expendable pawns, and everyone is an enemy.

Tade, Agent Five

'The Boy' as Decruda would call him. Tade is like... a brainwashed kid... sort of. He works under Decruda as one of his agents because he more or less owes his life to the man, and he was pretty much brought up by him. All in all, he basically makes Decruda seem more evil for employing children for his evil cause.

Quote:
Name: Tade
Alias: Five
Race: Human
Age: 14
Height: 160 cm
Weight: 64 kg
Eye Color: Deep Green
Hair Color: Black
Complexion: Tanned
Gender: Male
Class: Warrior
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral (Lawful Evil)
Patron Deity: None
Weapons/Armor/Equipment: Long cudgel (modified), throwing spikes, backpack
Appearance: Tade is a relatively average looking boy. He wears his dark hair short and messy, his eyes show the brightness of intelligence, and he usually wears simple single coloured clothing with little or no designs, however, they are all usually loose enough to allow free movement. He carries with him a staff with a heavy bludgeoning head as a primary weapon, usually covered in a cloth case. The cudgel is modified by Decruda to house blades in the head, deployed only when Tade is in a berserk state, as normally, he knows nothing of them. He also carries several throwing spikes on an arm brace on his left hand. The spikes have many tiny holes in them so that when they puncture a body, they do not become stuck and allows a victim to bleed.
Personality: Tade acts as normal as any other teen, however, he has a horrible fear of blood. This homophobia is split between two levels; the first simple level being that he feels nauseated and sick by the sight of others bleeding, and the second more severe level being that he sees himself bleed. His weapons do not incorporate any slashing types due to this fear, and even the weapons which are used as piercing type weapons are primarily for ranged combat so that he would not have to see bloodshed up close. If at any point he does take an injury whereupon he bleeds, his mentality will snap and he will go berserk.

Turriens Vlacanos, Swashbuckler Extraordinaire

Turriens is probably the only 'happy' character I have, even though I rarely get to roleplay him. His sense of style may appear painful as the colours he wears usually do not match, and clash horribly with their flambuoyant brightness. So, go crazy with his clothing design.

Quote:
Name: Turriens Vlacanos User Image
Alias: N/A
Race: Half-elf
Age: 96
Height: 169 cm
Weight: 47 kg
Eye Color: Green
Hair Color: Brown
Complexion: Fair
Gender: Male
Class: Swashbuckler
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Patron Deity: None
Weapons/Armor/Equipment: Rapier, main gauche, backpack, throwing knives (3), rope and grapnel, and a few odds and ends in the pack.
Appearance: Turriens looks as if he was a young adult human. His ears are covered by his shoulder length hair, hiding his elven heritage. Furthermore, he has a neatly trimmed mustache and goatee, facial hair to aid in his disguise. He is usually found wearing different clothes whenever he is found, yet they share the same basics. He wears a large hat with a large plume on it, a cape, a loose and flowing shirt, a vest overtop of the shirt, trousers, and black riding boots. Other than the boots, his attire is always bright and the colors don’t match. He usually carries himself with a dumb smile that seems to make him look clueless.
Personality: The happy-go-lucky swashbuckler is always in a cheerful mood, carefree and somewhat aloof. Sometimes he’s overly loud, making declarations while at other times he just watches with vacant eyes and a smile. He is fun loving, but quite readily stupid.

Lacking a short term memory, Turriens usually forgets little things and in the end, it comes back to bite him in the a**.

Beldaeyn, The Bloodhound

Another one of my less played characters. Beldaeyn is my first mercenary character which went around hunting people. Why? Because ideals like good and evil are played by enough people already. This one just wants money and the thrill of battle, because what else can possibly be more hardcore than making blood money? Basically this is the heavily armed character out of the others. Made for those epic large scale warfare roleplays.

Quote:
Name: Beldaeyn Ennuntar User Image
Alias: The Bloodhound
Race: Drow
Age: 173
Height: 167 cm
Weight: 51 kg
Eye Color: Red
Hair Color: White, Dyed Purple
Complexion: Dusty Grey
Gender: Male
Class: Warrior/Minor Magic User, Mercenary
Alignment: Chaotic Evil
Patron Deity: Vhaeraun
Weapons/Armor/Equipment: Battleaxe, short sword, dagger, sithyrr (drow hand crossbow, automated six shot loader), wrist blade, surface exploration issued drow armor, and small pouches.
Appearance: Beldaeyn looks like any other drow, the only thing unique about him is that he has dyed his short hair purple and has a single piece of jewelry displayed on his forehead which hangs from a slender silver chain. Armed to the teeth, Beldaeyn wears his armor as if it was another piece of clothing, having it worn on a daily basis and enchanted so that it is as light as cloth to him. The armor is composed of an alloy of mithril, enchanted to have a strength similar to that of adamantine. His weapons are displayed openly on his body, as he doesn't care who sees them or not. His battleaxe rests in a thong at his back, his short sword rests in a scabbard as his right hip, the dagger and sithyrr are attached to his left hip, and the 12" wrist blade is concealed in the left bracer of his armor. Like his armor, his weapons are made of the same material. His clothing, armor, and weapons are tinted a dull brown or black color.
Personality: Being the typical drow, he can more or less be summed up pretty easily. In a society of warfare and death, only the strong survive, and he lives by that rule; weakness is never to be shown.

As a surface drow, it is clear to understand why he sees Vhaeraun as his patron deity. He is not very fond of the matriarchal rule of those who live underground, however, has sense enough not to question it when his current mission takes place in such an area where the customs are well known.

Providence and Grace, the Hand and Voice of God

Ah... God. Because thats what they are. Providence and Grace are my longest running RP characters, played for about 9 years, though now I dont really roleplay them anymore because they are god, or whatever people would call a higher power, in this exact case, 'Existence', as I'm going by the ADnD 2nd edition stuff from back in the day where the characters were made for. But they more likely just show up as NPCs and cameo appearances in small things I might do rather than actual player characters.

The layout is a little different from the others because they are both avatars of the same being, and would essentially be one being. However, they are two for the simple reason of a balance. Like the yin and yang, they are male and female, tall and short, dead and lively. Drawing these two either seperately or together is equally fine.

I'm pretty picky with art when it comes to these two, preferably leaning towards the darker and grittier styles, and heavy shadowing colouring styles and all that. And at the moment, these two are the only characters I will consider paying with real money for art of these two. AIM for details, I use paypal. Except at the moment, my paypal account is empty.

Quote:
Name: Kraun User Image
Alias: Providence, the Hand of God, Absolute Equilibrium
Race: Avatar - Chinese Dragon (Lóng, Celestial Dragon), Abomination
Age: Eternal
Height: 252 cm
Weight: 75 kg
Eye Color: Pure Mercury
Hair Color: White
Complexion: Ethereal White
Gender: Male
Class: Monk
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Patron Deity: Io
Appearance: Kraun’s appearance is very alien in nature; his flesh is literally as pale as a ghost, his eyes are nothing but reflective liquid mercury orbs that lack both pupils and irises, and his long straight white hair that goes just past his waist, neatly parted down the center to cover the sides of his face. His body structure is extremely elongated; thin and lanky with narrow shoulders, emaciated to a point where he is almost skeletal with a highly wiry and sinuous frame of mostly tendon and sinew, complete with extremely long spindly limbs that make up most of his body length, disproportional as opposed to a regular body. His facial features are well defined, sharply angled and chiseled, but neither masculine nor feminine; it is rather ambiguous. But the most striking feature is that he never shows emotions or expressions, making him seem cold and emotionless; his body itself reflects this as it seems to be at a constant temperature of zero degrees centigrade; his touch is as cold as ice and his complexion is like that of a frozen corpse or a ghost.

The monk wears black pants and black boots, both of which are strapped with small black leather belts and buckles, two at each thigh and three on each boot over the calves. He also wears long black fingerless gloves that just go up past his elbows and what appears to be the lower half of a set of heavy long robes wrapped around his waist, hanging down to his ankles; they appear like a dress, slit twice in the front at the legs to provide free movement; they are also black. Beneath the long fingerless gloves he wears, a system of keratinous glistening white plates and spines on his forearms are present, growing directly from his bones and out of his flesh, five plates in all with three spines whose tips and forward edges are similar to blades growing out the end of each, the tips of the spines slice cleanly through the gloves and protrude from it, between the plates. He also has small plates on his knuckles, the joints of his fingers, a row running down his spine, and larger plates over his shins, but those are usually covered by the boots, and between each of these plates over his spine, there are also small spines which he can extend and angle like the ones on his arms. In fact, even his hair is artificial, as he is not mammalian; he has no mammalian glands and his body is completely hairless save for the artificial hair on his head which is of the same make-up as the spines and plates that grow out of his body. He usually carries a long string of plain grey perfectly spherical beads, twenty-seven in all, each one centimetre in diameter. These shu-zhu, or 27-count prayer beads, he usually has wrapped around his left wrist and hand in a double loop, the intersecting point usually found at the inside of his wrist.
Personality: Though Kraun naturally takes the physical form of a full blooded dragon, he thinks of himself as some sort of hybrid, a monster, an abomination, due to his altered physical state. He lives a life led by a strict ascetic discipline. When he speaks, his monotone voice is soft and usually quiet, barely ever saying more than necessary. When he looks at someone, he seems to look through them with his cursed gaze instead of at them, as if they don't exist, exactly like a blind person would.

He prefers to avoid conflicts and tries to settle disputes with words, yet is not unwilling to fight if need be. However, he will never be the one to start a fight or look for one, and being a humble man, he has little pride and self worth. He usually appears to be quiet and full of apathy, to strangers, it makes him seem cold and emotionless; his speech is extremely laconic. And if not for this, people would believe he is mute.

He is unable to feel emotions as he has no purpose to, being but a tool of god. If not for this, he would be mentally unstable, being one which sees and hears everything. Out of battle, he is as his normal self, at least as normal as he can be, but when he enters combat, he seems to be someone else entirely; his usual slow and gentle movements are replaced with lightning quick strikes and flowing, monstrously unreal motions.

Name: Sindova
Alias: Grace, the Voice of God, Absolute Equilibrium
Race: Avatar - Chinese Dragon (Lóng, Celestial Dragon)
Age: Eternal
Height: 173 cm
Weight: 54 kg
Measurements: 83-58-83 cm
Eye Color: Pure Mercury
Hair Color: White
Complexion: Ethereal White
Gender: Female
Class: Monk
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Patron Deity: Io
Appearance Essentially, Sindova is the same as Kraun but for some minor differences. Similar to Kraun, Sindova's flesh is horribly pale, her eyes are the same mercury pools, and her chin length hair is also a glistening white. Her facial bone structure however, is slightly different, softer, more feminine, attributing to the fact that they are essentially the same being. However, unlike Kraun, Sindova's body and proportions are normal. Her overall body shape is similar to that of a model's, thin with subtle curves, but not excessively thin like Kraun's to a state of being emaciated. If Kraun is the yin, then Sindova is the yang, essentially his opposite.

Her clothing is very similar to his, however, there are slight differences. Though every piece of clothing is black, her clothing differs for she wears black gloves that go all the way up her arms, stopping at the shoulders, leaving them bare, a sleaveless black jacket which is open but for two buttons in the center, long thigh length black boots, and large robes in a similar manner as Kraun. Also, like the man, she exhibits small belts and buckles on her clothing; two on the calves, one above the knees, and two on her upper arms. The major difference between the two however, is that Sindova does not have spines and plates protruding from her body.
Personality Unlike Kraun, her personality is vastly different. She is outgoing, warm, full of emotion, unlike the man who's like ice. Her gaze and tone of voice is very real and natural. And while Kraun prefers to avoid combat, Sindova accepts it and will eagerly jump into the fray given the chance, as her playful and teasing personality is a polar opposite to the stern man's.

Concept Design for Kraun - Portrayal of his elongated body structure, and the plates and spines located on his forearms and backbone. Use this for the body shape reference.

Concept Art for Kraun - Taking the concept design from above, but with the addition of specifics.
Headshot for Kraun, by Woefulinfinity - Headshot of hairstyle and face. Ignore the ears though, they should be normal instead of pointed. But I'm not complaining, still an awesome piece nonetheless.
Eye/face reference - Basically what the eyes look like. Blank.
By Lish - Black and white version. This is more or less the classic look in the description. Very traditional to the written portion with the detail as opposed to some of the other more radical ones.
By Flork - Excellent piece, though some of the specifics are a bit different from the original design, it gets the main points pretty well. Really like the fingers on this one.
By Leyli - This piece is a little different with the clothing design.
Sprite Edit for Kraun - This is probably a biased opinion, but this is probably my favorite sprite edit I've ever done. I've also probably spent more time on this single one than any other single framed sprites I've done. Just like the concept design, he's really skinny and tall by crazy long limbs.
By Flork - The only piece of art I have for Sindova. This is the old outfit.
Sprite Edit for Sindova - Sindova's new outfit. Nothing much to say here. Though the pose is sort of hard to make out. The right hand is sort of folded up to the chest, and the left arm is crossing over the stomach or so.

Sprite Edits
All sprite edit references in this thread are done by me. Additionally, you may see other sprite edits I've done in the past for other people. I've been doing those for a while now, but I'm actually not allowed to sell sprite edits, so instead I'm probably either going to do sprite edits for people who frequent the thread and hang out and whatnot as freebies, or I will do art trades for them if requested.

As long as I'm not making a profit and whatnot, its fine.

Unless of course, I do the 100% my own, no base used thing. Which will take me like... 10 minutes to make my own base, but I'm lazy as hell. I can sell those for gold and stuff. They're all King of Fighters styled sprites and whatnot because where I come from, its like RP combat and stuff. Fits in and all that jazz.
