PARENTAL UNIT
Primary Guardian: Taylor Penrose
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Occupation: College student/unwilling mother/science geek/champion caffeine addict
Appearance: Young-looking, with sharp features and pale skin. Brown eyes and short, shaggy brown hair. Usually wears a black knit hat, clothes with geeky sayings on them, and is almost always carrying a textbook or two.
Personality: Very smart, especially at all the sciences. In general, a master of the standardized test world, but inept at normal human contact. Her curiosity almost always gets the better of her, and she’s accidentally offended a few people that way. Sometimes has a bit of a short fuse, but is usually very gentle and caring, with a soft spot for animals.
Story: Taylor came from a freakishly “normal” town, meaning she didn’t have to deal with the normal magic, vampire, and kitsune-infested freak show that is the rest of Gaia. She moved, went to college, and acquired an owl-winged Guardian of Death, and has been gradually adapting to weirdness ever since. She’ll probably want to take Ryykt/Karl in as some kind of new science project- that’s how she got her Death Guardian, and she obviously hasn’t learned a thing from that experience.

Secondary Guardian: Liam Penrose
Liam (short for William) is Taylor’s older brother, currently “employed” as a drifter, wandering musician with a broken guitar, and general slacker. He’s also a werewolf (long story). Taylor hasn’t seen him for three years since he ran away from home. Currently, she still doesn’t know where he is, but he may come into her life, and Karl’s, sometime in the future. If so, Liam will take on the job of big brother or uncle to little Karl, and probably be a lot nicer to him then Taylor will be.

CRIMINAL
me: Ryykt, aka Number 42.
Age: equivalent to a 20something human
Gender: Male
Race: Serarna (genetically modified Anarthian)
Crime: Being an illegally created species, murder and assassination
Abilities: Superior reflexes and speed, poison spurs, infrared eyesight
Appearance:
General: Generally humanoid. About the same build as a human, but very tall and malnourished-looking. He has long (8" wink white bone spurs protruding from both elbows, and a VERY long (5' at least), thin, very strong tail, tipped with another bone spur. All three spurs are poisonous- the poison is dark red and sometimes visible on the tips of the spurs.
He also has large wings, like that of a dragonfly, but with six wings instead of a dragonfly's four, and pointed at the tips. These are very thin and fragile. They are perfectly clear but highly prismatic, so they appear to be a constantly shifting rainbow of colors.
Skin: Pale green. A jagged, twisted symbol is tattooed in black on the side of his neck- apparently, it means 42 in his language.
Hair: Dark blue with green streaks. Short (a little higher then shoulder length) and very shaggy, as if it had been cut sloppily.
Eyes: Dark red. No pupils.
Clothes: Baggy pants and a loose long-sleeve shirt, both made of color-shifting high-tech camouflage material, with many pockets. A thick black leather-y belt, with loops to hold 6 long white knives (3 on each side). Simple black cloth shoes. A thick black dog collar (or the interplanetary equivalent) around the neck.
Personality: For all the things he has gone through, Ryykt is surprisingly childlike. Yes, he kills for a living, but he’s been taught to enjoy it. He likes pretty things, and blood splatters are very pretty in his eyes. It’s just a game to him, and he has no idea that any of it is wrong. In fact, he has nearly no concept of pain or death, so he doesn't realize the scope of what he has done to people.
On the whole, his mentality is about that of a very innocent seven-year-old human. His owners never bothered to teach him anything besides fighting- he's incredibly good at that, but not good at much else. When not, uh, beating the s**t out of other people, he’s trusting, calm and friendly, though very quiet. He hasn’t had much in the way of normal socialization and doesn’t always understand normal social behavior, so he sometimes unnerves people by staring at them for too long. He has a desperate need to be liked and accepted, and if someone is angry at him he will be deeply upset, desperately trying to do anything he can to make up for whatever he did.
He is hugely curious and can often be found dismantling electronics or gazing for hours at plants and animals. He was never taught to read or write but makes up for it by drawing detailed pictures of things he sees or imagines, as his way of communicating.
Likes: Bright colors (especially red), rainbows, music, fighting, the sounds of people talking, insects, plants, sunrises, rain.
Dislikes: People being angry with him, thunderstorms, people ignoring him, being alone, the dark.

Home planet & society: Arna

Normal Arnathians are humanoid, a bit taller and thinner then the average human, with skin in varying shades of green and blue, short tails, and six dragonfly-esque wings.

Arana is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful planets in the known universe. The Arnathians have completely tamed their home world, and the whole planet could be considered one huge garden. Cities are clean and pollution-free, the wildest forests are cleaned of all dangerous animals and plants, and every inch of nature is groomed to be as pleasing as possible.
The aforementioned cities are generally multi-layered: huge towers with streets branching off from building to building. There are usually small gardens on every level, and the buildings are designed to fit well with the natural environment.
The technology is highly advanced, and Arnathian scientists and engineers are some of the most highly valued workers in their solar system.

Of course, anything this nice-looking can’t really be all that great underneath. Tourists don’t know it, but most cities of Arna are, essentially, run by very high-tech gangs, with the main factions always coming up with new ways to get into fights and assassinate the crap out of each other. The government turns a blind eye to this as long as it can, because the gangs have the technology to completely annihilate the largest cities, and they have threatened to do it if the government steps in.

Ryykt is just the latest technology on that battlefront. Some freaky mad-scientist Arnathian finally cracked the code of their DNA sequence and figured out how to splice the genes of babies to create any characteristics the freakishly rich, unscrupulous customer wanted. Naturally, as soon as the gangs found out about this, a few started ordering up custom-designed death-babies. The children varied greatly in appearance and abilities, but they all came from the same basic idea: Create a better soldier, and we won’t have to worry about killing off any real Arnathians.

The government, following its highly successful policy of “I didn’t see anything. Did you? I didn’t think so,” has deemed these created children illegal but does nothing about stopping their production or capturing them. The only way they will actually apprehend one is if it falls directly into their hands....

Ryykt’s history:
Born in a synthetic womb-pod and raised to be a murderer, Ryykt was the prized possession of the Red Crane gang. He had been an expensive custom job, and they were going to put him to good use. For his entire life he had been trained by different gang members in every known kind of weapon, firearm, and martial art. He had already taken on three major assassination jobs and come out successful each time, and won innumerable fights single-handedly.
For what was to be his final fight, he was pitted against the leader of another rival gang. At least, that was what he thought. It was actually a complex setup by his owners, the Red Cranes. They had been growing more and more nervous about their prize pet. He had been taught to kill, taught to enjoy it- and it was starting to frighten them a little. They wondered if he was ever going to turn on him, and they knew they wouldn’t be able to stop him if he did. So they lured him into a trap.
Ryykt was shot twice and left for dead. The city police found him, tried to ignore him, and finally (after several hours) decided to enforce the law for once. Still unconscious, Ryykt was bundled into an ICRS pod and fired into the sky....

BABEH

Name: Karl Penrose
Gender: Male
Abilities: Some residual martial arts/weapons talent
Appearance:
General: Once again, humanoid. He'll grow up to be about the same build as his old self, maybe a little shorter. Very large, batlike ears. The right one has two notches in it, and both ears have a large assortment of multicolored stud and hoop earrings. Both fingers and toes have long white claws, and his ankles have short bone spurs (no poison, though).
Skin: Dark blue-gray, with silver-white markings. They look like a cross between henna designs and "tribal" tattoos (vaguely echoing the shape of his old neck tattoo), and cover his entire body, especially densely on his hands and feet.
Hair: Dark red, fading to black at the tips. Very long as a baby, though he'll probably get it cut later. Many multicolored hair wraps and silver beads.
Eyes: Luminous light blue, with slightly darker vertical cat-like pupils.
Clothes: Prefers anything loose-fitting, especially jeans and T-shirts several sizes too large. He doesn't like shoes and usually goes barefoot. His old dog collar, now too large for him, still dangles around his neck (he still had it when he arrived on Gaia and has never taken it off). He also likes multicolored rainbow jewelry (it seems to remind him of his old wings) and will usually be wearing a rainbow bead bracelet or anklet.
Personality: Same as before, at the beginning. He'll mature quite a bit as he grows, and be forced to look at his past from a different angle that he may not like. But he will always remain very innocent, open, and trusting, and he will also remain more comfortable as a follower than a leader. He'll definitely experiment with music and art more, and probably find some talent at it.

[...task the first...]

COMPLETE. GO ME.

Child's Name: Karl Penrose

Full Description of Child:

Build: Humanoid. Long 'n' lean: long-limbed, tall, athletic-looking but not extremely muscular. Like a gymnast or soccer player or something.
Limbs: Uh. Four? Two arms, two legs.
Facial features: Normalish human.
Eyes: Very light blue, almost luminous, with vertical cat-like pupils.
Ears: Large and batlike- a little smaller then Kian's, and located where a human's ears would be (on the sides of his head). Two notches in the right one. Pierced to hell and back with multicolored studs and hoops and the like.
Hands: Long-fingered, but basically humanoid. Long, sharp, white claws.
Feet: Once again, humanoid, with claws like his fingers. Short bone spurs on his ankles.
Skin: Dark blue-gray with silver-white markings. They look like a cross between henna designs and "tribal" tattoos (vaguely echoing the shape of his old neck tattoo), and cover his entire body, especially densely on his hands and feet.
>.< Reference picture coming later, I guess.
Hair: Dark red, fading to black at the tips. Very long as a baby, though he'll probably get it cut later. Many multicolored hair wraps and silver beads.
He also likes multicolored rainbow jewelry (it seems to remind him of his old wings) and will never be seen without a rainbow bead bracelet or anklet.
Extra: With luck, he'll get his wings back at FRIC stage.

Child's Personality: Very, very innocent and childlike. Okay, so he killed a lot of people in his past life, but he didn't know it was wrong. He doesn't have any idea of what pain and death are, so he has no idea when he's inflicting them on other people.

He's nice. At least, he tries to be nice, but he often goes about it the wrong way. He desperately needs to be liked and accepted, and gets almost physically sick if anyone is angry. Of course, if anyone is sad or angry, he assumes it's his fault and will do anything and everything he can think of to "fix" whatever he did.

He didn't learn a lot of social skills or get much education in his past life, so he'll be using his time on Gaia to make up for these. He'll do well, just because he's hugely curious. He also has some fairly good art skills and, when he's younger, communicates by drawing instead of speaking.

Anything else: While he's lost most of his karate skills due to the loss of muscle memory that comes with BEING TURNED INTO A BABY, he still has a bit of talent and will quickly pick up everything Diacyn tries to teach him.

Three words that describe this character
Innocent, Sensitive, Kind

The Basics

Character's full name
Ryykt.

That's it. No last name. Nobody ever bothered.

Reason for or meaning of name
It's the number 29 in his language. Because he was the 29th in a long line of experiments..... Hell, he doesn't have a last name, OR a proper first name. Poor guy.

Nickname
Ry, [insert assorted insults here]

Approximate human-equivalent age at sentencing
20ish

Approximate height at sentencing
6 feet

Hair color/texture/style (or hair equivalent)
Dark blue with green streaks. Short (a little higher then shoulder length) and very shaggy, as if it had been cut sloppily.

Skin color
Pale green.

Eye color
Dark red. No pupils.

General build
About the same build as a human, but very tall and malnourished-looking.

Distinguishing marks (scars, tattoos, general markings)
A jagged, twisted symbol is tattooed in black on the side of his neck- it's his name/number in his language.
He's pretty scarred up from all the fights he's been in, so there are pale scars all down both of his arms and across his chest.

Other distinguishing features
He has long (8" wink white bone spurs protruding from both elbows, and a VERY long (5' at least), thin, very strong tail, tipped with another bone spur. All three spurs are poisonous- the poison is dark red and sometimes visible on the tips of the spurs.
He also has large wings like a dragonfly, but with six wings instead of a dragonfly's four, and pointed at the tips. These are very thin and fragile. They are perfectly clear but highly prismatic, so they appear to be a constantly shifting rainbow of colors.

The Past

Crime
Being an illegally created species, murder, and assassination.

Ok, so basically, he was a genetically modified Arnathian created for the use of one of his home planet's most powerful gangs, the Red Cranes (name translated; the original is 27 characters long and involves an irrational amount of 'q's).
The Red Cranes, aspiring to be the dominant gang of their city, commissioned the creation of Ryykt via a highly illegal process. His genetic alterations included poisonous bone spurs, infrared eyesight , enhanced strength, and more powerful wings.
From his birth, Ryykt was trained to be an incredible martial artist, with skills for street fighting and assassination. They then used him to take down the leaders of rival gangs and win nearly every fight that broke out. In a short time, the Red Cranes rose to top dog status.
But they began to feel nervous about their prize fighter. For one thing, they had made sure he never realized what pain was, so he had no knowledge of how much he was hurting his opponents- and they were worried that he might try to fight them and not understand the consequences. He could certainly defeat every one of them. Plus, he was just... strange, in his behavior and his thoughts. They didn't entirely trust him.
So they lure him into a trap, a fake fight. Ryykt was shot twice, dropped over the side of a building, and left for dead. The police found him, decided to enforce the law for once in their lives, and bundled him, still unconscious, into an ICRS pod....

Name of Home Planet
Arna

Description of home planet

Favorite/Least Favorite Things

Color
Red - it's his gang color, and the color of blood (which he's been conditioned to like).

Least favorite color
Grey. He thinks it's boring.

Music
Anything and everything. The simplest tune is completely enchanting to him.

Least favorite music
Nothing- he loves it all.

Food
Candy and other sweet stuff.

Least favorite food
Tlak (an Arnathian food kind of like very bitter blue broccoli)

Literature
Eh... he doesn't know how to read....

Least favorite literature
n/a

Mode of transportation
Flying! Whenever he gets the chance, which isn't often.

Habits

Hobbies
Karate practice, drawing, dismantling and assembling electronics, flying, gang missions.

How does character spend a rainy day? (Or rain equivalent)
Training, if the rest of the gang has their way. If he can get away with it, Ryykt will be huddled under a table (he's a little scared of storms), drawing or taking something apart.

Family

Mother
Who the hell knows? Some random egg donor.

Relationship with her
zilch

Father
Aw, hell, there isn't one. Not even some random sperm donor person who doesn't know he's a father. Pure artificial synthesized DNA right here, folks.

If you're looking for a father-figure, this would be Zarnn, the leader of the Red Crane gang and Ryykt's trainer.

Relationship with him
Think tough love, minus the love. Zarnn treats Ryykt with a minimal amount of kindness, but that's only because he paid big bucks for his little test-tube-assassin-made-to-order. Most of his time with Ryykt is spent in training: weapons, weaponless fighting, firearms training, general physical workout- and if Ryykt doesn't perform up to standards, Zarnn punishes him mercilessly.

Ryykt is confused about Zarnn. On one hand, he's terrified of the man. On the other, he's also desperate to live up to Zarnn's standards and make his "father" happy. Thus, he is usually cowering before Zarnn's rage, or working his a** off in an attempt to please him.

Siblings
28+ other fetuses. It's unknown how many actually survived.

Birth order
n/a

Relationship with each
n/a

Children of siblings
n/a

Children
None- hell, Ryykt doesn't even know what sex is.

Extended family
Other genetically engineered Arnathians like Ryykt scatter the planet, and they could be considered "family" after a fashion. Ryykt is usually beating the s**t out of them in gang fights or assassination jobs or whatnot.

Close?
Hell no!

Attitude

Greatest fear
Zarnn, or anyone else, being upset with or ashamed of him.

What is the worst thing that could happen to him/her?
He could lose a fight and either be killed by his opponent, or his gang 'brothers' once they found out.

What single event would most throw character's life in complete turmoil? Why?
Being separated from the Red Cranes. He wouldn't know what to do with himself, have no place to go, have no one to look up to or work for... he's be lost.

Most at ease when
He's just won a fight and everyone is pleased with him.

Most ill at ease when
Zarnn is yelling at him.

Priorities

How s/he feels about self
Generally satisfied and content, but constantly guilty from imagined mistakes.

If granted one wish, what would it be?
Have Zarnn be happy forever.

Personality

Greatest source of strength in character's personality (whether s/he sees it as such or not)
100% good-hearted. He really only lives to make others happy. He's just been conditioned to think the best way to do this is to beat the s**t out of them, but if he'd been raised in other conditions he'd be a total Mother Teresa.

Greatest source of weakness in character's personality (whether s/he sees it as such or not)
Very easily manipulated. Too willing to submerge himself in someone else's will and let them do the thinking for him.

Biggest vulnerability
Sensitive, easily upset by nearly anything.

Traits

Optimist or pessimist (Why?)
Optimist, because he knows nothing to be pessimistic about. The gang has been careful to shelter their prize child from any knowledge of physical pain or suffering, because they worry that Ryykt's fighting skills would be lost if he was aware he was hurting people.
Ryykt's world works in simple terms of praise and punishment, and he's convinced that if he works hard enough everything will be okay.

Introvert or extrovert (Why?)
Introvert, because his gang "family" tends to react badly if he's loud, annoying, or generally extroverted. They want him unnoticed unless he's in a fight.

Talents
KARATE PWNAGE YO. Absolutely brilliant, and ruthless, with every type of weapon and firearm available to the Arnathians, plus many styles of unarmed fighting.

He also has natural abilities including his the poison on his spurs (it's fast-acting and causes local paralysis), and multi-spectrum eyesight.

Mannerisms
Very childlike: he fidgets, tries to touch things he shouldn't, and asks strange questions (when he says at all).

Problems/Crisis

How character reacts in a crisis
Initially, he would hide in an empty room or under a table until the worst of the problem blows over. Then he would put all his effort into trying to fix what went wrong (because no matter what the problem is or how it was started, he'll be convinced it was his fault), and probably make it worse somehow.

How character reacts to change
Generally well.

General

Favorite clothing
Anything loose-fitting and easy to move in. When he's going to be in a fight, he'll wear color-shifting camouflage clothing meant to confuse anyone watching and help hide his movements.
He also has a knife belt with several long, white knives.

Jewelry and other accessories
A thick black collar around his neck (it contains a tracking microchip and a remote-triggered electric shock device), which he couldn't remove even if he wanted to.
He doesn't have much else in the way of jewelry, but if he finds anything pretty or sparkly he'll find a way to wear it. He often has colored string wrapped around his wrists and ankles, beads tied to his fingers or around his forehead, and the like.
Three to five words that describe this character
Geeky, smart, determined, high-strung, caring.

The Basics

Character's full name
Taylor Penrose

Reason for or meaning of name
Taylor, because it's what her parents called her. They liked stupid trendy names for their kids.
Penrose is a fascinating geometrical pattern that I will inform you all on later. Taylor does not know this.

Nickname
Geek, science girl, Shinee

Date of birth
?

Zodiac sign
?

Chinese zodiac sign
?

Approximate current age
19

Approximate current height
5'6"

Hair color/texture/style
Medium brown, a little above shoulder length, shaggy and generally unkempt looking.

Skin color
Pale peach.

Eye color
Muddy brown.

General build
Fairly thin, generally awkward-looking.

Distinguishing marks (scars, tattoos, general markings)
Nothing special. She's fairly boring looking.

Other distinguishing features
Really, really average looking, if that's distinguishing.

Home planet
Earth

Favorite/Least Favorite Things

Color
Blue

Least favorite color
Pink

Music
Alternative

Least favorite music (Why?)
Rap (she hates all the swears and dirty stuff)

Food
Caesar salad

Least favorite food
Anything meat (she's a vegetarian)

Literature
Science textbooks, A Brief History of Time.

Least favorite literature
Poems, especially love poems.

Expressions
"It's quantum." (used to explain anything she doesn't understand)

Expletives
Very few, unless her computer breaks. Then it's usually "******** techno-b*****d!"

Mode of transportation
Walking or biking

Habits

Regular cigarettes (When and how often?)
Never, unless you count secondhand smoke from Diacyn.

Alcohol (What? When and how much?)
Never

Drugs (What? When and how much?)
Caffeine, in large amounts, nearly every day.

Hobbies
Studying, reading, watching animals (and usually taking notes on their behavior), sleeping, bothering Diacyn, watching kung-fu movies.

How does character spend a rainy day?
Curled up in her dorm room with a good book.

Family

Mother
Aimee Penrose

Relationship with her
Not so good: Aimee basically ignored Taylor, or attempted to get her a boyfriend because she felt her daughter wasn't "normal." Taylor kind of resented her.

Father
Jake Penrose

Relationship with him
About the same, really. They weren't good parents- not bad parents, exactly, they just didn't try to be good parents.

Siblings
Liam Penrose

Birth order
He was first, by two years

Relationship with each
Well... she got along with him fantastically until he ran away from home, and she hasn't seen him since. She misses him like s**t, though.

Children of siblings
Dann, Liam's adopted TCC bat anthro.

Children
Does Diacyn count? He's an adopted Guardian of Death, around 17 now, and a macho ninja wannabee. More details on request.
We've also got Ako, a reborn psionic vampire serial killer, and the incredibly British Todd is bound to show up any time now. Woohoo!

Extended family
Unknown and unimportant.

Close?
Nope

Attitude

Character's greatest fear (Why?)
Being in some situation (or taking a test) and having absolutely NO IDEA what to do- not knowing any of the answers, just being completely, completely lost. Taylor thrives on security and doesn't like feeling lost.

What is the worst thing that could happen to him/her?
Dying? XD

What single event would most throw character's life in complete turmoil? Why?
Getting expelled from college. All of Taylor's life is dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge, good grades, and a PhD. She wouldn't know what to do with herself outside of that environment.

Character is most at ease when
Everything is completely normal!

Most ill at ease when
Life is threatening to spiral out of control...

Priorities

How s/he feels about self
She's very, very harsh on herself with anything school-related, but otherwise is pretty okay with herself. She's a nerd and she knows it, and she's come to terms with the fact.

If granted one wish, what would it be?
To have a photographic memory. It would make studying so much easier. 3nodding

Personality

Greatest source of strength in character's personality (whether s/he sees it as such or not)
Determined as hell. If she's going to do something, she'll see it through to the end no matter how much work it takes her. This includes raising her odd bevy of kids to be fantastic uber-genius citizens, quite a difficult task given the circumstances.

Greatest source of weakness in character's personality (whether s/he sees it as such or not)
Too easily confused, not willing to accept things as they are without analyzing them.
Also, overly curious and may accidentally offend others that way.

Biggest vulnerability
When confused, likely to make stupid decisions.

Traits

Optimist or pessimist (Why?)
Optimist, just because she doesn't have it in her to be bitter for a long time. She's good about getting over things, and tries to see the best in people when she can.

Introvert or extrovert (Why?)
Introverted, mainly because she's very socially awkward and tries to avoid situations where that will come out.

Talents
All kindza school-related stuff, shouting really loudly when necessary.

Mannerisms
A little bit awkward- she's klutzy, with a knack for walking into things at the wrong moments. Also, nearly everything she says ends in a question mark.

Problems/Crisis

How character reacts in a crisis
Initially panics, then tries to analyze the situation, fails, panics again, then gives up and calls it quantum phenomenon, which means she doesn't have to worry about it anymore.

How character reacts to change
Very badly. She's not good with things she doesn't understand, and change is one of them.

General

Favorite clothing
Baggy jeans and T-shirts or sweatshirts with math problems or geeky sayings written on them.

Jewelry and other accessories
No jewelry, but she always wears a black knit hat, and usually carries her stuff in a satchel. Is almost always carrying one or more books.

Play musical instrument? Which? How did s/he learn?
WAHAHAHAH uh no. ZERO musical or artistic talent here.

[...task the fifth...]

BABY LANDING YAY!

((OOC notes: Taylor is the Guardian described above. Diacyn is her first child- a Guardian of Death, around 17 years old, and frequently grumpy. And he smokes. And swears. This should be fun.))

---

Wrrrr.

Crackle-rustle-snap.

Click.

Somewhere near the center of a large deciduous forest, a sleek, shining pod descended from the sky, silent except for a few snapping twigs and the chattering of one terrified squirrel. Swaying slightly, as though something might be wrong with its internal mechanics, the pod settled in a pile of red-gold fallen leaves, swayed slightly, then powered down. With a sudden click, the door unlatched.

Inside, something stirred.

---

"Why do we have to walk in the stupid forest? Why can't we go buy ice cream? Or play video games? Or go see a movie? Or-"

Taylor sighed, trying to ignore the complaints of her "son." For all his massive bulk, Diacyn was still incredibly juvenile, and was currently acting like a bored six-year-old. However, no six-year-old had biceps as big as Taylor's legs, tribal tattoos, snowy white wings, and a permanently scowling mouth with a cigarette clamped firmly between the lips. Diacyn was one of a kind.

"You didn't have to come with me," Taylor reminded him irritably. "It was your idea." Diacyn scowled and kicked up a drift of leaves, hands jammed firmly in his pockets. He muttered something incomprehensible and probably rude. Taylor decided to ignore him and looked into the treetops instead, keeping watch for any birds or squirrels. She liked watching the animals; it was very relaxing.

Ah. There was a squirrel. She couldn't see it, but she could hear it, chattering madly in the distance. Curiously, she set off towards the source of the noise, wondering what could have the little rodent so upset-

Clang.

Taylor's foot caught on something metallic and she fell forward into a drift of leaves with a soft fwump. In the distance she heard Diacyn laughing. Grumbling something as rude as anything the owl could think up, she extracted herself from the leaves, pulled a few out of her hair, and turned to see what she had tripped on.

"What the bloody- This isn't- no freaking way- Diacyn! Get over here! I think I found a spaceship!"

---

Ryykt blinked awake for the first time since he had fallen off the roof. His shoulder still throbbed a little, but it wasn't bad. It would heal.

Wait. Things were strange. He was in a little room. He liked small spaces, like the table he hid under when he was scared, but he didn't know this space. It was weird.

How small was it? Experimentally, he stretched out his arms. They couldn't reach the sides. That was... odd...

Then he noticed that his arms were small and chubby, the fingers stunted, the skin dark and shot through with silvery-white designs... these weren't his arms.

Was this another test? Like the fighting tests and the driving tests? He'd never heard of anything like this before...

Then he became aware of the shadowy shapes outside his tiny room, the deep, rumbling sounds coming from them, and suddenly he was very, very scared...

---

"What the hell. It's a spaceship. There's no way in hell it's a spaceship." Taylor paced in circles, her tennis shoes crunching the leaves. "How can it be a spaceship? Who made it? Is it an alien?"

Diacyn was sitting on a nearby log, lazily smoking his cigarette. "Maybe the alien's inside," he suggested, blowing a puff of smoke in Taylor's direction. Taylor gave him a dirty look but took his advice, approaching the pod gingerly on tiptoes as though it might explode at any minute, or zap her with a laser beam.

There seemed to be a door on it. Carefully, so carefully, she touched the handle, then turned and pulled...

Muddy brown eyes met luminescent silvery-blue ones. Taylor screeched and leapt backwards, tripping over nothing and landing in a confused heap in the leaves. The tiny thing in the pod had nowhere to go, but it gaped soundlessly at her, like it was trying to scream but couldn't get the words out.

"Wh- it's a- oh my god, it's an alien." Taylor got up for the second time, not even bothering to get the leaves out of her hair. Okay, it was strange, it was frightening, but it was an alien... a real, live alien... Scientific Taylor took over and left Frightened Confused Taylor behind. She had to study this thing. Where was it from? What did it eat? Why was it here?

"Uh... hey, little guy. Girl. Whatever you are?" She peered into the pod, inspecting the creature closely for the first time. It was surprisingly humanoid. Sure, it had the crazy giant ears and the freaky skin markings and the point claws, but it looked just like a human baby.

Oh, god, it was a baby.

"Hell, am I going to have to take care of you?" Carefully, she lifted the tiny thing from where it lay, feeling it shake in her arms. It was terrified. Taylor had all the maternal instincts of a female seahorse, but she felt sorry for it... lost, and alone, on the complete wrong planet... who the hell put babies in spaceships, anyway? She smoothed back some of its long, red-black hair and cooed at it in what she hoped was a comforting manner.

"I can't have a baby."

But it seemed like there wasn't a choice. "Oy, Diacyn," she said, getting a firmer grip on the trembling infant. "Grab that spaceship. I want to take a closer look at it at home." Diacyn scowled and protested, saying there was no way he could lift that thing, so they finally decided to come back with some rope and drag it home. For now, there was a baby to take care of.

"Diacyn?" Taylor said as they walked back home. "He's ours. But you can't eat him."

Ahrpeeeee.

Design an interplanetary pet and describe it in your contest thread. That's it. I would prefer it be something from your criminal's home planet, but I understand sometimes that's impossible, so just do what you feel. You don't have to draw anything - words should be just fine on this one.

These pets will eventually be drawn and offered up for sale/SS events (you'll get one of the ones you designed as well), so don't base yours on a beloved original creation. Or a v****a or anything.

Hoo boy. Okay, picture a mouse. That'll give you the size and basic body structure. Now give it three pairs of ears, which are long, elf-like and kind of feathered at the tips. Each pair should be slightly smaller than the one above it. This thing also has six legs and three long, thin tails. Its fur is short and very smooth. Each strand of this fur is basically a biological fiber optic cable. The point of this is that whatever color the creature's skin is, its fur is as well. Why? Well, like some kind of super-powered chameleon, this mousy thing can change the color of its skin by changing the size of tiny colored cells there. These cells are red, yellow, and blue, giving the creature the power to become every color of the rainbow. This probably started out as a camouflage tactic, but like everything else on Arna, these creatures have been selectively bred and genetically modified to be as pleasant and aesthetically appealing as possible. So now we have mini portable living rainbows.

These guys are very popular pets on Arna because of their gentle temperament and their color-changing properties. They are very easy to train, and Arnathians often teach them to take on certain colors or patterns on command. You can frequently see an Arnathian walking down the street with his pet creature, color-coordinated to match its owner's outfit. Children have hours of fun teaching creatures to spell out swearwords on their fur. "Wild" creatures (selectively bred ones that have been purposely released into the wild), when not using their power to blend in with the background, run through the parks and forests like an invasion of tiny mobile Skittles.

Ryykt once found one and kept it for a few weeks, until Zarnn found it and killed it.

I'll come up with a name for this thing later. Intergalactic names are HARD! gonk And we shall call this thing... the Mikisia (mik-KEE-see-ah). Yippee.

[...task the eigth...]

The objective of Task Eight is to collect five objects, toys, pets, weapons, etc that have to do with your child in some way. They can be something you would give your criminal as a baby, or things that they themselves would obtain later in life that tie to their past.

These items can be purchased from minishops, drawn by you or your friends, or simply taken from the internet (be sure to credit where you found them). HAVE AT IT, MATEYS.

All pics drawn by yours truly. Hence the crappiness, and the lack of needing to say where they came from.
Uh, don't steal 'em? Though I don't see why you'd want to. >.<

Rainbow Bracelet
Taylor gave this to baby Karl. He never takes it off because it's pretty and shiny and colorful. He likes the shinies.

Sketchbook
Karl's a curious little bugger, and he likes to draw stuff he finds interesting. He practically never lets go of his handy sketchbook. As he gets older, he gets more reluctant to let people see what he's been drawing... privacy is a very new thing to him.

Collar
Yeah. This is a leftover from his past life. Even if he managed to get his old Arnathian collar off, he'd still feel wierd without something around his neck. He has kind of a love-hate relationship with the collar- it scares him because it could hurt him, but at the same time, it's a security thing. He knows what to expect.

Knife
Ryykt used to fight with knives like these. Oh, the memories...

From here. No time to draw this one! *moan*
Mouse
Karl gets this as a pet when he rescues it from Diacyn. It marks a shift in his perspective, from a childlike, selfish save-your-own-a** mentality to someone willing to look out for others. Yippee.
