THALION IS ON A SEMI-HIATUS!

Welcome to Legacy of the Firebringer - a new breedables shop based off of the book Fire Bringer by Clement D. Please read through the entire front page before asking any questions, contacting the staff, etc. If there's a concern about anything, please PM the mule directally.

The Guild
The guild is on public settings. You do not have to own a deer in order to post in the guild. Non-owners can play humans and set up quest threads.

The lineart and templates done by Thalion.

User Image|..March 18, 2008..|
If you missed the prior announcement, The Legacy of the Firebringer is undergoing yet another lineart change. I've decided to change our lineart from the more realistic style into a more simplified style with cell-style templates. It's a large change, yes, and a dramatic one, but I fell that in the long run, it'll be for the best.

- The new lineart is easier to draw, takes less time to ink, and hardly any time to template. I can finish the set in a fourth of the time it would take me to complete it in the old style.
- The new lineart is easier to work with and far more familiar to the artists in the b/c community of gaia- which will make it easier for our colorists and easier to hire on more help.
- Edits and patterns are now easier to vary on the lineart. Markings can take a more solid look, and we'll even be a bit more lenient with edits, colors, and patterns. We are sticking to a natural coloration theme, but what's considered natural will be a bit more flexible.
- Semi-cosplays will be allowed! We'll have more details on this in a bit.

Presently, we have all the basic stages for the Firebringer herd complete. The speakers are half inked, the lord is complete, and the storytellers are being sketched out. After that, I'll work on the new herd followed by reindeer, wolves and familiars. Once all the lineart's done we'll hold a very large event to fill up the new herd, establish at least two wolf packs, and add some new members into the firebringer herd, so keep posted!

Also, Thalion is offering any old members ( IE- owners who received deer prior to January 2008 ) a free adult custom male or female. Edits are allowed (minor please!) These will come along slowly. Since they're free, they're not top priority and I'll get to them as I find time!

The shop is on semi-hiatus. Daeril-Sama, Poetical Rain, and Black Pidgeot will be the only ones hosting larger events. Thal may throw out a few freebies here and there to keep activity going. Thank you everyone for your support and patience!

Front Page Updates:
- I'm halfway through making the side-banners for the front! I'm going to add some special stages and some more owned, edited deer to the front.

- The RP guidelines now have more specific rules laid out. Many of them should be common sense, but in recent months I've had to repeat myself several times on certain matters- so now we have a more formal, organized section for in-game guidelines. If you have any questions, let me know.

- I've also began added the current herds to the Herla section.

Updates to come:
- New Custom guidelines and rules.
- New custom pricing.
- New breeding rules.
- Guidelines for roleplaying humans/tame lera.
- Guidelines for roleplaying wolves.
- More banners! 8D
- A new shop banner.
- Hiring contest for a certer, an ownerlist manager, and an rp manager.

}Rules{

..1 : DO NOT steal the artwork. While the concept of the shop is based off of a written work, the artwork within the shop is completely original. Anyone caught stealing or altering the work without permission in any way, shape, or form will be reported- this is an offense that will blacklist you from the shop and potentially get you banned from gaiaonline.
..2 : DO NOT start arguments in here. We understand not everyone will like each other but we ask that you get along. Don't bring up issues from outside the thread into here, likewise leave controversy and politics in the chatter box and general discussion forums where they belong. There's just too much to disagree on.
..3 : DO NOT beg the shop owners for a pet from this shop. We'll be sure that everyone has a fair chance to get one. Likewise if you lose out in an event don't complain, there'll be more in the future and we're sure to reward those that deserve one in time. Never expect us to hand you one for whatever reason.
..4 : Keep everything PG13. We'll be enforcing this very, very strongly. As the name suggests, PG13 means that the subject material presented may not be appropriate for children under 13. However, it cannot run into material that is inappropriate for children under the age of 17. To present said topics and still hold true to being within the PG13 borderline, topics such as sex, rape, drug use, child abuse, extreme violence and gore, etc. are implied rather than shown (or in the case of online forum gaming, typed out). Likewise, promotion of these topics is strictly forbidden.
..5: Names must be something that will fit well into the setting. Japanese names are an absolute no. This is Scotland, how Japanese names came into Scotland is anyone's guess if we allowed that. Celtic, Gaelic, Scottish, and natural names (like Bankfoot, Heather, etc.) are acceptable. If you're having a hard time finding names we've dug up some decent sites to look to: |+| |+| |+|

We reserve the right to add more Rules/FAQ/Guidelines as the need arises.

}Role Playing Guidelines{

- Do not role play in leet. Please, if you must type in leet keep it strictly in ooc (out of character). It doesn't take that much effort to put "to", "too", or "two" instead of 2, "you" instead of u, and so on.
- Don't Godmode. This means that your character has reasonable limits. Deer cannot speak with Lera unless they are speakers, and even speakers cannot speak to Man. Deer cannot fly or defeat an entire pack of wolves on their own. Likewise, unless you have permission of another player, you cannot kill off another character. Wounds and injuries will happen if there's fighting, both sides must be reasonable about it.
- Your character cannot see and know all. Out of character information is meant to stay that way, having your character suddenly know about a trap that's been set by another player's character is godmoding.
- Make sure to separate out of character comments from in-character comments. Brackets ((like this)) []Or this[] Work fine. Also be sure to separate actions from speech, speech from thoughts, and so on.

RPing within a herd:
- Whomever plays the Lord of the Herd is in charge of that herd for so long as their stag holds the position.
- All new members must gain approval through the Lord before they can be accepted into the herd.
- The laws of the herd’s Lord are to be followed. In-game defiance will lead to in-game consequences. If you defy the lord of the herd, he can remove your deer from his herd or punish them according to his standards.
- You cannot assume that your deer can sneak from the herd without encountering the Outrider guard. Always clear such things with the lord’s player or play the situation out with an outrider player.
- If you feel the Lord’s player is abusing their power, contact Thalion to resolve the issue.
- Predatory Lera will rarely be permitted into a herd, even if a speaker vouches their innocence. Creatures such as wolves, foxes, and lynxes are threats to young and injured deer and in most cases will be driven away from the herd or killed by the Outriders if found too close to the territory. Keep that in mind if you’re playing a Lera in the herd’s territory.
- The fallen, in most cases, will not be permitted near a herd. They are cursed undead creatures considered demons among the herla. Even a docile fallen is seen as a threat and a curse.
- Surrogate parenting is -not- allowed.
- Adopting orphaned calfs and fawns is allowed.
- Anlach is the only time when the herd’s leadership may be challenged. It’s up to the players to decide just how to settle a fight during Anlach. We have a stat system for those that want a fair, organized way to fight their deer.
- Anlach is the only time when a stag may challenge another stag for a female.
- Breeding outside of Anlach is rare.

Rping a rogue Herla:
- Rogue herla will almost always be driven away from a herd by outriders if seen as a threat.
- Rogue herla are easy targets for predatory lera such as wolves.
- Rogue herla have difficulty keeping young alive and have a higher mortality rate among their young. While they may breed outside of anlach, there will always be mortality rolls for their offspring.
- Rogue hinds are very unlikely to survive for a long period of time.

Rping a fallen:
- Fallen cannot be reborn and cannot die. They are forever trapped in an undead state.
- The only other potential form for a Fallen is a ghost (when these customs are available) after their rotting body is gone.
- Fallen cannot breed.
- Fallen have no set Lord. They may choose to form an organized herd eventually.

Rping a Spirit:
- Spirits can have no effect on the mortals without Thalion’s approval. In very rare cases, I will permit blessings and/or curses from the spirits.
- Each spirit rules over an aspect or domain. It can be anything from life to bunnies. Spirits can also take the shape of any animal native to the area.
- Spirits cannot breed.
- Spirits can only be seen by mortals under a full moon.
- Only speakers can hear the speakers at all times. Other herla/lera can only hear them during a full moon.
- No one can own Herne as a spirit.

Rping a Lera:
- Lera cannot understand creatures other than their own kind.
- There are no speakers in the world of the Lera.
- Lera can speak to and understand herla speakers, that’s about it.
- Lera will not often befriend another species, and thus it’s very, very rare that they can adopt another species or be adopted.

}FAQ{

question How can I get one?
exclaim There'll be chances to get a pet from this shop all the time. Featured characters will be available through RP prompt flatsales, these characters are pre-made characters with names, personalities, families, and ranks already set to them. Flatsales can occur either by speed flatsale (first come first serve), or by rp prompt flatsale. Raffles can happen at any time or around events, as can auctions. There'll always be special events (contests, birthday events, holiday events, etc.) so keep an eye out. There's always the option of customs.

question When is the story set? I've read Firebringer and I was hoping to play Rannoch.
exclaim The story is set shortly after Rannoch's death actually. The herds have returned to their rightful lands, the deer have forgotten how to speak to the Lera for the most part, and much of the story from Firebringer itself is known only through the storytellers of the herds.

question What's the plot of Firebringer? I haven’t read the book...
exclaim That's okay, it's really not a requirement. It's based some time after the book so the story is going to be much different. A lot of the deer have forgotten about the old stories anyway.

question Will there be other species?
exclaim Yes. Once the red deer herds are complete I'll be re-doing the reindeer then moving on to wolves and other familars. Eventually I would like to include roe and fallow deer as well.

question It mentions harems, how will this work with breeding?
exclaim A male red deer can have more than one mate to breed with. The hinds that he claims as his- or choose to stand with him -make up his harem. Only he may breed with his harem. If another male wishes to have breeding rights to one of his females, then he must challange the current mate of that hind for her during Anlach. Of his harem he will choose a favored female and she'll kind of be in charge of the other females and her calf (if she has one) will be the one that'll get the most attention from the father. In game, the players can settle this as they'd please- so long as it's kept PG13.

question Can I have a homosexual deer?
exclaim Yes, but your deer will not be allowed to breed by any means. Ever. Rape, surrogate parents, or joining a harem/claiming one just long enough to breed are not going to be permitted. If you choose for your deer to be gay, then it will never produce offspring of its own within this shop. I'm sorry, but that's my policy. It can, however, adopt orphaned calves if it can find one. This doesn't mean your deer can steal a calf/fawn and pretend it's theirs. I'm going to be very strict on this one. There's plenty of shops on gaia that will allow all that. This is a shop mostly based on realistic deer so we're going to be realistic on this matter.

question It mentions humans... can I play one?
exclaim Yes. Humans don't require art or a cert to play. We do ask that you put a profile in the guild so we can look over it. Remember the timeframe is medieval and guns aren't yet invented. It's set in Scotland and much of the population lives off of the land by farming, hunting, etc. If you want to play some form of nobility you have to clear it with Thalion first.

question Where do we role play?
exclaim You can role play either in the guild or here in the thread. Just be sure to seperate ooc from ic talking.

question How long do the deer take to grow?
exclaim Younglings take 3-4 months to loose their spots and, for males, grow their first nubs. Does and bucks take about three months to grow. Males will grow extra tines in two months. Outriders are the final stage, to become a royal or a lord you must meet rp requirements.

question Can we play/own a rogue deer?
exclaim Yes you may, there are such things as roaming deer. Deer who were separated from their herd perhaps during a hunt, deer that were driven from their herd (Though you'll have to have a pretty good reason for this. We don't need every other roaming deer to be all emo.), deer that left (mainly bucks) to start their own herds or find a new one to live in, and perhaps the rare occasional orphaned fawn (another one that will need a good explanation).

Rannoch has passed into the eternal lands, leaving behind a legacy that remains upon the lips of the storytellers and the older deer of even the farthest herds. Known by roe, fallow, and reindeer alike, the legacy of the firebringer beats strong in the herd that he once called his own and reigned over as lord for many years. Since then, his offspring have begun to grow old and have had many offspring of their own. FireBringer's herd is under new leadership and life continues on as it always has. Outriders once again patrol the hilltops proudly serving under their captains. Young calves play freely, dreaming of grand adventures as outriders and meeting the strange herds outside of their own.

However, there is rumor that the way of the Sggorla has survived far from the FireBringer's herd. Their ways of rage and violence still darkening the hearts of those that remember best the tales of old.

(more to come...)

Dictionary of Terms:
___________________________________________________

In FireBringer there are terms that not everyone will be familiar with. We've listed them here to avoid confusion and to help keep the setting in mind.

- Anlach : The time during the fall when the male deer of the herd compete for hinds and does. It's during Anlach alone that the lord of the herd can be challenged for his position as leader. During which time stags and bucks grow unusually violent.

- Corps : Young bucks with 3-6 tines on their antlers. At this age the bucks are still in training to become outriders and are given duities such as standing guard, patrolling closer to the herd, and occasionally coming to the aid of the Lord.

- Herla : What the deer refir to themselves as, being Herne's favored race.

- Herne : To the Herla, Herne is the god of the forest who often takes the form of a deer. In this respect, it's said that herne's favored people are the deer themselves. Herne is also known by man as a spirit more than a God. Formally a great hunter, Herne was killed and hung with his head replaced with that of a deer to mock him in death. His angry spirit lives on and seeks revenge on both deer and man through trickery and misfortune.

- Home Oak : The central meeting place for the Outrider captains and where the Lord of the herd can often be found overlooking the herd.

- Larn : Dusk.

- Lera : A term for anything that isn't deer and isn't man.

- Outriders : The most glorious position for a stag (aside from captain and Lord). The outriders serve very much the way knights do to a king. They are the first to fend off predators and outside threats, in charge of the well-being of the herd, they can often be seen topping the hills surrounding the main herd on patrol. The Outriders rank over the Corps but serve under the Outrider Captains and the Lord himself.

___~}The Firebringer Herd{~___
Lord of the Herd: Brychan (Played by Black Pidgeot)
Outrider Captains:
- Presently None
Herd History:
The Firebringer herd was officially founded after Rannoch’s triumph over the tyrant Sggor. The legend of the herd’s founder described him as a powerful royal stag with the mark of a white oak leaf in-between his eyes. The day of his birth, his father was murdered and his herd over-run by rebel stags. Rannoch was hidden from the evil lord’s eyes but eventually had to flee from the herd with a handful of his friends and their families. In Rannoch’s absence, an stag bearing no antlers by the name of Sggor had taken control of the herd and began expanding his power into surrounding herds. Eventually, Sggor had taken control of nearly all the herla of the land, to include the smaller Roe and Fallow deer.

Legend spoke of Rannoch’s triumph over Sggor, and with the herds of the highlands at his back, once Rannoch was a full-grown stag he defeated Sggor and restored the land to order. His original herd was re-formed under his leadership.

Since then, the Firebringer herd has become the most respected of the herla.
Herd Religion:
The herd has always believed strongly in Herne, the god of the herla and of the wood. Much of their stories speak of Herne and the first stag, Starbuck, who tricked herne into blessing the herla with antlers. Herne is given tribute through the stories of the storytellers of the herd, it has long been tradition for the elders of the herd to pass along the tales of Herne, of Starbuck, and now of Rannoch to the young to keep the tales alive and to ensure that the faith of the herd will remain strong.
User Image
User Image
The herla are said to be the favored creatures of the god of the forest, Herne, who through myth and lore is responsible for the behavior and appearance of the deer. It was Herne who bestowed antlers onto the males, as well as the one that causes their antlers to fall before they can grow larger. Herne is responsible for the anger between the herla during Anlach, forcing deer against deer in order to pass their line on to the next generation.

The herla believe, for the most part, in Herne, passing the god's tales down through their storytellers to the younger generations. Calves are often found circled around the old storyteller, which can be male or female, to hear of the adventures of Starbuck, an ancient deer that was said to have tricked Herne into gifting the deer with antlers in the first place, along with many other trials of the legendary stag. The foreign reindeer even tell tales of both Herne (who is named Horen to them) and Starbuck (who goes by another name and in their culture, is the one that totes around Saint Nick once a year).

Herla live in herds under a lord. The lord of the herd wins his rights to the title through the yearly Anlach and only during that time. A challenge to the lord is made and whomever emerges as the victor stands as the lord of the herd for as long as he can defend his title. The lord of the herd also normally holds the largest harem of does, able to fight for and defend his stock of mates. His favored doe is seen by the other females as an authority as well.

Under the Lord stand the outrider captains who serve as both his protectors and advisors. Every decision of the herd is discussed with the outrider captains before a final decision is made. The outrider captains lead the outriders and train the young corps, patrolling the hilltops for predators, outside threats, and keep an eye on the weather. Normally, both lords and outrider captains carry a few extra tines on their antlers than a normal outrider. Deer with ten or more tines are referred to as 'royals' and are seen as higher ranked individuals as the name suggests.

The outriders are under the captains, serving over the corps as outer patrol, driving away potential threats and warning the herd if danger approaches. Outriders normally carry a head of 8 tines. Corps are young bucks, their antlers carrying 3-6 tines total. When a calf has sprouted into a full head of antlers, he becomes a corp and undergoes training under an outrider captain, assigned to inner patrol of the herd, within the herd to resolve small conflicts and to keep an eye on the well-being of the does and young calves and fawns.

Does stand at a pretty even rank overall, ranked only by their mate's rank within the herd and their standing with that said mate. A harem of does can run between 2-12 does, all of which claimed by a single male and are his to breed with during Anlach. The does are expected to bear young for their mates and to raise them. Young calves and fawns hardly see their fathers, when they do it's normally the calves that are given attention. The favored doe will normally grow into the status by bearing multiple young or by bearing a healthy young buck to the father. Her offspring will receive the most attention by the father. It's not uncommon for a favored doe to come into the rank out of affections as well.

Calves and fawns remain close to their mothers for a year until they sprout their antlers, in which time they'll remain with their mothers but they are more able to roam on their own, grazing often with others their age and forming early relations.

| The Red Deer |

Males:
- Calf:
The males begin looking much like the females. Small, normally spotted, and without antlers. Halfway through their growth period the lineart will be edited with a pair of small nubs growing onto their heads.
- Buck ( "Corps" ) :
The males will then grow into corps. In this stage they will have very few tines on their antlers and will begin their training under a more experienced outrider. Halfway through their growth cycle they'll earn more tines on their antlers (another lineart edit).
- Stag ( "Outrider" ) :
For most males this is the final stage of growth. They are now proud outriders, guarding the herd from atop the hills and driving away predators. Those that advance further through intensive role playing, activity, and dedication to their character, the story, and the thread will have their outrider advance to a captain where they'll earn more tines. Outrider captains alone will have the opportunity to compete for the rank of lord. Outrider captains, also, will produce one more calf in breeding than is rolled.

Females:
- Fawn:
Young fawns are just like young calfs save for they're a bit smaller in size. Their fur is normally spotted and at this age they remain very close to their mothers. Halfway through their growth cycle, the fawn will loose her spots.
- Doe:
Does are now independent of their mothers and learning their place in the herd. They often help tend to the young or older deer when they can. Much of their day is spent grazing. At this age, the does begin to show interest in the males though they're not yet ready to breed.
- Hind:
Hinds are fully grown female deer, smaller than the males still, but dangerous in their own right. They learn to box with their sharp hooves and that alone can detour smaller predators like fox from their offspring. At this age, hinds may be claimed into harems and breed. Activity to role playing, attention to plot, and activity in the thread will insure one more calf to the breeding than what is rolled.

Special Ranks:
- Lord of the Herd: (Male Only - Adult Only)
The lord of the herd is the dominant male of the herd. He stands as the champion of Anlach, having defeated either the prior lord or having defended his title successfully for yet another year. The lord of the herd has within his right to have any hinds he desires as part of his harem though he can only claim them during Anlach. The lord's chief role in the herd is to serve as its protector and commander of the outriders. Under him he keeps a council of outrider captains, stags who have proven their worth to him, as advisors and bodyguards. Though the herla have no such use for heirs to the lord, the calves of the lord are given a good deal more respect than those of other stags for their relation to the lord and the possibility for their father's strength through their breeding.
Lords are obtained through vigorous role playing, special events, the creation of a new herd, or the in-game defeat of the prior lord. There will always be only one lord per herd.

- Storytellers: (Male and Female - Adult Only)
Storytellers are often times herla who are unable to perform as otherwise productive members of the herd. The elderly, the lame, or those with especially weak antlers are normally taken as pupils under the current storyteller until their master passes away and leaves them with the tales and knowledge passed down through the herd for generations. Does, while rare, can also become storytellers if the former storyteller sees potential within them. The storyteller's primary use within the herd is to keep the history of the herd alive and teach it to the young just before larn. They also occasionally serve as council to the lord of the herd.
Storytellers are obtained through special events or through vigorous role playing and a storyteller quest. The staff will choose players who they feel have proven themselves devoted to the plot well enough to quest for a storyteller. The chosen entrants will then submit an example of a story and of their role playing and both will be judged. If the staff approves, the deer becomes a storyteller. There will be a 5 storyteller per herd limit imposed to keep this special class special.

- Speakers: (Male and Female - All Stages - Lineart for Adult Only)
Speakers are the rarest of classes for the Herla. These deer are 'touched by Herne' himself and are blessed with the ability to both understand and speak to the lera. The gift can occur at any stage of their life and can range in difficulty of mastery. Speakers are looked on as gifts from Herne as they are able to speak with creatures like the seals and the birds to receive further news of the world around them. Speakers cannot, however, tame creatures like foxes and wolves for these creatures hunt them and understanding or not- they must kill the herla to survive. Speakers cannot understand man and man cannot understand the speakers.
Speakers are available through three ways- special events, -heavy- bribes, or the roll of the gaia dice. To request a speaker roll, PM the mule with the name(s) of the herla that you own that you wish to be rolled for. A staff member will roll a number between 1 and 100. If the roll is 90 or above, your herla has been gifted with the ability of the speaker. If not, better luck next time. We highly recommend that you don't plan for a speaker and rely on it to further a plot. It's an extremely rare and special occurrence.

To request a speaker roll for your deer, post in this thread.

| The Reindeer |

(-Pending new growth chart-)
The reindeer typically run through three stages of lineart from calf/fawn to doe/buck, to hind/stag. Other rankings/special classes may be available in the future. For now, the Reindeer are rules by a council rather than a single lord.

Reindeer also have names that would sound very different from anything in Scotland. Big thanks to Cihiru for finding these reference sites for naming the reindeer: (+)(+)(+)

Males:
- Calf:
The males start out a bit larger than the females in both stature and bulk. They have no spots, only a lighter, thicker baby fur that will darken and shed away when their antlers begin to grow in.
- Buck ( "Corps" ) :
When the young calfs sprout their first head of antlers, like the red deer, they're taken into the corps. As young bucks they patrol between where the calfing cows graze and the outriders.
- Bull ( "Outrider" ) :
Bull reindeer are normally only slightly larger than the cows. They have longer 'beards' than the cows under their necks and chins and a larger, more impressive head of antlers. Antlers in this stage may be customed to differ from bull to bull. Outriders serve under captains who also serve the herd as half of the council. Typically there's three captains to a herd.

Females:
- Fawn:
Just smaller than the males, the fawns also have the lighter, thicker baby coat that will darken in time though their 'beards' remain shorter.
- Doe:
Females of the reindeer also are gifted with antlers. Though smaller than the male's, females are still admitted into the corps if they prove themselves strong enough. They're only slightly smaller than the males.
- Cow:
Fully grown with their full set of antlers. Still much smaller and less impressive then the males, adult cows mainly use their antlers to fend off predators that make it past the outriders. Most cows prefer to steer clear of the outrider position though there are a few that have joined. Three cows also serve as captains to the council.

The lera are simply anything that isn't deer and isn't man. The wildlife of Scotland includes creatures such as the wolves, weasels, otters, raven, puffin, seals, and fox to name a few. The Scottish Isles are heavily inhabited by seabirds who nest by the sea but are often seen flying inland during storms. Seals are common sights lounging on the rocks by the beach or on the beach themselves along with the otters who are also found along the rivers and lakes inland living in burrows underground. Fox are often seen along the beach hunting for young seabirds and newborn otter, they span inland too and are a pretty common predator. Wolves are the dominant predator of the Isles, living mainly inland among the forests and valleys, preying primarily on deer though digging out otter and fox burrows is hardly below them. The only threat to the wolves, in fact, is man.

Soon to come...

Roles of Men: Men are the supporters of the family, and like women, higher class men can expect an aranged marriage, and often expect it as an chance to increase their power base or gain money from a doury. Unlike women, men can and sometimes do take the liberty of taking a mistress and sire a few 'bastards' on the side, though this is probably easier for a noble when it's harder for someone to come after you when he realizes his unsullied daughter is....sullied. (sucks to be her. A lot.)

Roles of Women: This is a time of conflict where the old and the new ways colide, not always well. Women have sharply lost status, though some still afford them a certain respect, they can no longer afford to act as casualy or as freely as we, nowadays, take for granted.
Aranged marriage in the upper classes is a way of life, and is excepted and even expected. Flight from such arangement is rarely an option. After all, where would they go? As tempting as it may sound for us for a character to go and become a 'wild woman'...being tortured, mutilated, or killed for 'witchcraft' has become an real and immediate posibility. Likewise starvation, sickness, bandits or animal attack. Farming is extraordinarily difficult, and very taxing, and an untrained novice would have a very difficult time mastering these skills in time to survive.
While it is possible to play a strong willed woman, keep in mind that this is not an era freindly to such things, and NPCs are likely to be more in tune with the philosophies of the day, and unsupportive of the concept.

General Information
-Pricing for a flatsale (Speed or prompt ) will be 5k (5000g).-

Speed Flatsales:
A speed flatsale is a first-come-first-serve game. A set number of deer will be put up for adoption. A time will be established for the flatsale to start. There will be a 5-minute prior silence requested so no one misses it. The flatsale begins when a staff member says "GO!" in bold green letters. The deer will be numbered and the first to claim that number wins. (So the first to claim one will get one, first to claim two gets two, and so on.) Once all the numbers are claimed the staff member will announce the winners.

Prompt Flatsales:
A prompt flatsale will begin when one of the staff members establishes a short prompt. Those entering the flatsale for the deer(s) must answer the given prompt in whatever way they seem fit, including the phrase 'herne's hope' somewhere within the entry. We ask that for prompts you write no more than a page in 12-point single-spaced in times new roman font in ms word... too much and the judging takes too long. A start and ending date will be posted and entrants have that long to respond to the prompt as best they can. A winner or winners will be drawn from the entries based on writing, personality of the character, and thought behind it. When the event has been judged a staff member will announce the winners.

Rules:

+ No complaining! Everyone has a chance in the flatsales. Don't make the winners feel bad by complaining about your line speed, writing ability, etc.

+ Don't yell at anyone else that's entering if they already have a deer. There will be plenty of newbie events we guarantee it.

+ Trades need to be sent within 24 hours of winning or we'll pick the runner-up. The only exception is gaia downtime, a problem with trades, or a personal emergency. (These we will judge on a case-by-case basis).

+ Entries are to be sent to the mule. Do not post them in the thread.

+ Specify which prompt you're answering and which deer you're entering for. If you forget, you'll be disqualified.

General Information:
-Raffle tickets will -normally- sell at 100g each. There will be rare cases where they'll be more spendy (for fundraisers) or even free (for special events). Always read the rules of the raffle you're entering-

Normal Raffle:
Normal raffles will be 100g per ticket. Tickets will be limitless and you're free to buy as many as you'd like for yourself or others. Those buying tickets must post in the thread in bold red letters how many they'd like. First come, first serve as far as ticket slots go. Every 100g buys you a number. At the end of the raffle the gaia randomizer is used to draw a winner or winners (depending on how many are being raffled). The owner of the number that's drawn wins.

Newbie Raffle:
Newbie raffles are for those that do not own a deer yet. Tickets are free but you're only allowed one ticket per person. Owners can claim tickets for a newbie friend so long as they've not already claimed one for themselves. When the numbers are drawn, the owner of the drawn number wins.

Fund-Raising Raffle:
These will be rare and far between, but occassionally we'll put up fund-raising raffles to help with a quest, either our own or that of a friend's. Tickets will normally run anywhere between 100-1000g and there'll be no limit. Normally in rund-raising raffles when a certain ammount of tickets have been bought, there'll be another prize added.

Event Raffle:
Birthdays, holidays, special events, or even just random, out-of-the-blue feel good raffles. These are completely random completely free and can happen at any time with any ammount of prizes.

Rules:

+ Do not make anyone feel bad for buying a lot of tickets. For one, what they do with their gold is really none of your business. Just because someone buys a lot of tickets doesn't mean they'll win. While, yes, it's more likely, the point of raffles is play a game of chance. Two, who knows? They might want to give the prize away if they win. It happens, don't be rude.

+ Don't try to discourage anyone from buying tickets. Bragging about your amazing luck or vast riches is completely unfair to those already feeling a bit intimidated. Best just list out how many you're buying and let that be that. No bragging, no discouraging.

+ Don't get bitter if you've not won. You won't get a refund and it's not the staff or anyone's fault that you didn't win. We use the gaia randomizer so there's no way for us to possibly know the outcome any more than anyone here.

General Information
-All auctions will start the bidding at 5k (5000g).-

General Auctions:
General auctions are pretty self-explanatory. A starting time and date is established along with an ending time and date. The deer (one or multiple in some cases) are posted up and numbered. The bid starts at 5k and from there bidders have however much time to outbid each other for the deer they're interested in. Bids are to restricted to increments of 100. Items are accepted only as priced by tektek.org. Store items are taken at sellback value. Item bids are to list out the items being bid, how much each item is worth, and the grand total of the bid.

Silent Auctions:
These are tricky in the respect that no one sees the bidding. A deer or a few deer are put up for auction and everyone is allowed once bid per deer. The bids are PMed to the mule rather than posted in the thread. Highest bidder wins. There's no minimum or maximum on how much anyone can bid, it's a gamble but a fun way to run an auction.

Rules:

+ No complaining! Yes auctions can get spendy but it's hardly fair to get upset over it.

+ Don't yell at anyone else that's entering if they already have a deer. There will be plenty of newbie events we guarantee it.

+ Do NOT yell at or discourage anyone that's bidding. If someone bids more than you it's just the name of the game, don't make them feel bad for being rich, for having gold to spare, etc. They have every right to bid if that's what they want to do with their gold and items.

+ Also, DO NOT discourage anyone from bidding by flaunting about how much you have, how many auctions you've won, etc. It's simply not fair to anyone and it could get your bid canceled and your name added to the greylist with a warning.

+ We will have a snipe-guard. If bidding continues ten minutes prior to the end of the auction, we'll extend the bid time to ten more minutes until a bid stands for ten minutes without a challenge.

General Information:
Cusoms are where you order your own deer, choose out the colors you'd like, and in some cases, you may have a few lineart edits. We do have some guidelines for customs at the moment. We may change our policies if we sell enough deer, simply so we don't grow overwhelmed by repetitive colors or patterns.

arrow Colors, for the moment, will be kept strictly to more natural tones. Colors like green, red, blue, etc. will be kept to earthy versions of the colors, grey colors, or faded versions of those colors. Think of stormy sky blue instead of just blue, clay or rust red instead of true red, grey moss green instead of just green, that sort of thing. Also lineart edits, for the moment, can only include items if there's a reason for them being there (an item received through man such as a snapped rope, a bandage, etc.).

arrow Patterns may also be limited, we'll not be allowing any deer to have an oak leaf on it's forehead simply because of the back story. Try not to go nuts with patterns (like hearts, stars, American flags, etc.).

arrow Lineart edits will be available, mainly for bucks and their antlers. You cannot choose how many tines a buck has over 8 (as royals are earned through dedicated rp and plot) but you may choose to have an antler snapped off, malformed, or curved differently to make your stag look special. Cuts (like in the ears), missing limbs (though you'd need a reason for them to have survived this long), and slight add-ons like more fur in a location, perhaps a beard on stags or 'bangs' on a doe are also acceptable. We reserve the right to charge more for multiple/complex edits.

arrow Cosplays are limited to colors. Lineart editing items (like chains, guns, studded collars, etc.) are out of the question. Hair styles are always a flip-flop. We don't think there'd be many deer with Mohawks or intricate braids running around. Colors also will likely be toned down to hold true to the natural colors.

Prices and Types of Customs

exclaim Basic Custom: | 300k |
Regular customs allow you to choose the color of the deer (limited to natural browns, blondes, brown/reds, etc. Basically natural deer colors) patterns (limited to socks on the feet, blotches on the bum, etc. No patterns resembling shapes like stars, etc.) , the gender, and the age. Males are restricted to calf, corps, or outrider. Captains and Lords are only available through rp.

exclaim Normal Custom: | 400k |
This allows you to stray away from the natural deer colors for your customs. Colors such as stormwind blue, grey moss green, rusty red, dusty yellow, etc. are available to you now. Patterns are also able to resemble shapes through you probably don't see many deer with flags or nike swooshes on them- just keep that in mind. Like before, you can also choose the gender and age, again captains and lords are restricted.

exclaim Full Custom: | 500k |
This allows all the color/pattern options of a normal custom. This also opens the option to lineart edits. Does can have fur edits, wounds added, cuts in the ears, items (see the guidelines above), or expression changes (without changing the base for the eye and nose). Males can have antler edits, just no added tines past 8 in outrider stage and 6 in corps stage. Antlers can be broken, chipped, curved, curled oddly, etc. Males are also open to all the lineart edit options that a female is.

exclaim Basic Familiar Custom: | 25k |
Currently only Foxes, Irish Wolfhounds, and Rabbits are available for familar custom. As with a herla basic custom, a basic lera can be in natural colors only. Rusty reds, browns, greys for foxes.

exclaim Normal Familiar Custom: | 40k | CLOSED UNTIL LINEART IS AVAILABLE
Colors such as stormwind blue, grey moss green, rusty red, dusty yellow, etc. are available to you now. Patterns are also able to resemble shapes though wanting the face of Brad Pitt patterned on your fox might be a tad bit much...

exclaim Full Familiar Custom: | 50k | CLOSED UNTIL LINEART IS AVAILABLE
This allows all the color/pattern options of a normal custom. This also opens the option to minor lineart edits.

Special Customs
exclaim Deer Spirit Custom: | 1 Million |
Deer spirits are this shop's equivalent of gods. They're deer that have passed on or that have always existed only as spirits. They have very little power in the physical plane and appear only during full moons to the mortals. Spirits are incapable of breeding and are forbidden from directly influencing the realm of the living. Deer spirits are about as extreme as customs get. They can have trinkets on them relating to the world of men, starry bodies, glowing eyes, impossible antlers, etc.

exclaim Fallen Custom: | 800k|
The fallen are undead deer from the time of Sggor. During the tyrants rein, many deer fell under Sggor's orders despite their loyalty and complete obedience to him. Those with spite in their hearts for their murders managed to pull their bodies up from the grave and walk as trapped souls within rotting shells. They are incapable of taking mates and are hated and feared among the living. They rarely leave the base of the great mountain. The fallen are heavy lineart edits and will always originate from the firebringer base lineart/template. Fallen will not grow, even if they begin their unlife at the calf or fawn stage.

Special Reeshie Customs
Please post your claim IN THE THREAD. I will then give you a heads up and you should then PM me (Reeshie Hack) the form.
exclaim Semi Custom: | 100k |
This allows you to make suggestions on your deer/wolf. You may choose species (deer/wolf), gender, 1 color wanted, and 2 colors not wanted. Color shades are up to interpretation on my part, most will be dulled to look more natural. You may also provide a song to help inspire me, if you'd like. ^.^

exclaim Basic Custom: | 250k |
Regular customs allow you to choose the color(s) of the deer, a simple suggestion to any patterns (Examples: "Socks and belly", "Spots", "Waves", "Stripes", etc.), and the gender. Males are restricted to calf, corps, or outrider. Captains and Lords are only available through rp.

exclaim Normal Custom: | 350k |
This allows you to be as specific as you like in markings and whatnot.
Patterns are also able to resemble shapes through you probably don't see many deer with flags or nike swooshes on them- just keep that in mind.

exclaim Growing Custom: (Only Available for Deer)
Add 50K per stage to the chosen custom type. Males are restricted to calf, corps, or outrider. Captains and Lords are only available through rp.

Pet Trades:
Pet trades are common between shop owners and colorists. I’m pretty open to Pet Trades. PM the mule to request a pet trade, if I get back to you I’m interested. Please don’t be offended if we don’t respond. It just might not be my thing.

Guidelines to Pet Trades:
- If you want a fully growing (all stages) deer, I’ll be expecting the same.
- If you want lineart edits, ditto.
- Pretty much, an eye for an eye as far as pet trades go.

Oober Pet Trades:
Shops that qualify for oober pet trades are compatible for unique lineart adult-stage deer. Again, if interested PM The Firebringer:
- Soquili
- Realm of the Paint Gods
- D-Corp
- PM to request!

Reeshie on Pet Trades:
Pet trades are common between shop owners and colorists. I’m pretty open to Pet Trades. PM the mule to request a pet trade, if I get back to you with my answer ASAP. Please don’t be offended if I don’t accept it. It just might not be my thing.

Guidelines to Pet Trades:
- If you want a fully growing (all stages) deer, I’ll be expecting the same.
- If you want lineart edits, ditto. (As of this moment, I am adverse to edits because I don't feel I'm capable enough. I am, however, willing to do multiple pets to replace the lack of edits on my end.)
- Pretty much, an eye for an eye as far as pet trades go.

General Information | Herla Breeding
-All breedings cost 6k per calf/fawn birthed-

General Breedings:

Basically open breedings. This occurs during Anlach (which we'll make twice an rl year to make fair). Each colorist may open two breeding slots. In order to qualify for a breeding slot you must have:

- An adult Stag and an adult Hind. No adolecents can breed. Remember- if the pair has been active and both parents have more than 5 completed rp's, then an extra calf/fawn will be added by default. (Max.3 offspring.)

- At least 5 completed role plays for each deer entering the breeding. Completed means at least 10 posts from each player in the guild or here in the thread. Keep track of your role plays, we will be requiring links to said rp's and we will be checking them. One-liner posts won't be counted, put some effort into it, we don't want the deer to be for breeding purposes only.

- The hind must belong to the stag's harem that she's breeding with. A stag breeding with a random female doesn't happen (so birth by rogues and npc's are restricted in normal breedings). Rape also will NOT be allowed for breedings, a stag raping another stag's hind would result in a fight and the death of the offending stag. Harems are sorted out through role playing. Remember, if you want your stag to compete against another for a female, be sure to talk it over ooc with the players involved. If it comes down to it, the staff can step in.

- You have to have enough to pay for the calves/fawns that you might get. If you're active prepare for a potential 3, if not then 2.

- If your stag has a harem you can enter only once for the first 24 hours. If there's still any slots once the 24 hours is up, you may claim another slot for your stag and another one of his females.

- When breedings open, we'll make an announcement in this post to this effect and an announcement in the updates. It's up to you to keep posted on that!

- When breedings open, there'll be a thread set up in the public guild. The colorist in charge of that breeding will also be in charge of keeping track of those that enter and running the raffle. All trades will go to the breeder rather than the mule.

- Before a couple can breed, the hind must be claimed by a stag and displayed in the Harem listing thread in the guild. If you win a drawing and your hind is not listed as being a member of a stag's harem, you'll loose the chance to breed that round and another winner will be drawn!

Breeding Raffles:

- Breeding raffles will also occur in the guild when announced. A link will be provided to the breeder's thread in which you may sign up for a slot.

- Each couple will have only one ticket. The posting order will determine the number order as well.

- When the raffle's over a staff member will roll for the winner. They will then roll between 1-2. Whatever they roll will be the base number of offspring. She will then add in any bonus offspring that have been earned through activity. The owners will be informed and payment must be sent by the time the breeding is posted
.

Rules:

+ There will be 1-2 calves birthed to a doe as the base number. If both players have more than 5 completed rp's, an extra calf/fawn will be added default. (Max.3 offspring)

+ There will be 2/3 female to male ratio. The staff will roll individually for the gender of each calf born, rolling between 1-3. If we roll a 3 it'll be male. 1 or 2 means a female.

+ Do NOT whine if you don't get a breeding slot. The rules have been written for breedings so it's perfectly fair for everyone. If your doe isn't chosen from the harem to be entered into the breeding with her buck, work out a deal with the buck's player but don't fight over it.

+ Repeat- RAPE IS NOT ALLOWED. PERIOD. Does are at all times within the herd, protected by the males who have claimed them. Unclaimed does are still under the protection of the outriders. Being raped by a rogue buck will not happen. If your doe is out among the wild it's unlikely she'd live long without a herd or run into another rogue male.

+ Repeat- Homosexual deer will not, under any circumstances, be allowed into the breedings. Period. No sergeant mothers/fathers, no rape, no birth by rogues. If they're homosexual the only way they'll raise a calf is by taking in an orphan.

+ While it was originally only specified to homosexual deer, I'll specify it again- NO SERGEANT PARENTS. It's very highly unlikely that the lord of the herd would permit it. Deer can only mate with members of their harem. A doe cannot leave her harem to get impregnated by a rogue without facing exile from the herd. Likewise a rogue cannot slip into the herd and impregnate a female without first getting past the outriders, the lord, and the corps that protect the females.

+ No trying to bribe the staff into allowing more offspring into a breeding. If we roll a 1 there will only be one offspring and it's up to both owners of the parents to decide who the offspring goes to.

+ You can give the offspring away, but you must verify with the staff, however you cannot make a profit from it. Prompt contests, just giving to a friend, or free raffles are allowed. On occasion we may allow a charity auction or raffle but you must get our permission first.

+ We reserve the right to the throwback rule. Throwback occurs in nature when an offspring resembles a grandparent rather than a parent completely.

+ You have to use 5 different rp's for every breeding! You cannot use the same rp twice towards a breeding. Anlach is normally only 2-4 times a year so this leaves plenty of time to build up those rp's!

+ You cannot choose how the offspring look, the staff alone are in charge of the coloration outcome of the offspring. If you request, you can ask to have a rare gene roll for your breeding. There's a 10% albino chance, so we'll roll 1-100. 90-100 gets an albino. Likewise there's a 10% chance your deer will be pure black. In the 1-100 roll, if we roll a 1-10 your deer will be black. This will be the only way purely black and purely white deer will be available. (Including antlers and hooves)

+ Any inbreeding will run the risk of the offspring having a defect. There'll be a 50/50 chance. This means we'll roll between 1-100. If it's 50 and below, you'll have a defect. We may roll for it between the offspring beind deaf, a mutation, mute, blind, etc.

General Information | Lera Breeding
-All breedings cost 6k per offspring birthed-

General Breedings:

General breedings are open breedings for active role players. For wolves and other lera there is no set time/date that breedings occur. They can breed whenever they see fit.

- Wolves will produce 1-6 offspring at a time. Active couples (more than 5 rp’s per parent) will get a bonus pup.
- Rogue wolves will have only half the amount of offspring a couple within a pack will have. Without the safety of a pack and an established territory, the mortality rate is high. Rogues will have 1-3 offspring. Again, active couples (more than 5 rp’s per parent) will get a bonus pup.
- Wolves can breed whenever a breeder has slots open. The breeder can announce this at any time, so keep an eye out!
- General breedings will be tracked inside the guild. When wolf breedings are open, the breeders will open threads for their slots and breeding requests.

Breeding Raffles:

- Breeding raffles are non-rp required. This means you can crack off a random pairing and have a potential litter.
- Breeding raffles will be held inside the guild in the same fashion as deer rp’s will go.
- A male wolf can breed with multiple females during a breeding. A female can only breed with one male per breeding.
.

Rules:

+ There will be a 50/50 male to female ratio. Rolling a 1 will mean a male, a 2 will be female. (All lera.)

+ Do NOT whine if you don't get a breeding slot. The rules have been written for breedings so it's perfectly fair for everyone. If you’re active, you’ll always have a chance at breeding. If not, then try your luck in a breeding raffle.

+ Rape among the lera will be controlled and must have the approval of both the shop owner and the breeder. If either says no then there will be no rape breeding. We’re aware that it’s more common among wolves/foxes/etc. than among deer.

+ Homosexual lera will not, under any circumstances, be allowed into the breedings. Period. No sergeant mothers/fathers, no rape, no birth by rogues. If they're homosexual the only way they'll raise a calf is by taking in an orphan. We’re enforcing this for lera as we are with the Herla. It’s not possible in this shop.

+ No trying to bribe the staff into allowing more offspring into a breeding. If we roll a 1 there will only be one offspring and it's up to both owners of the parents to decide who the offspring goes to. If you’re absolutely determined to have at least two, then push to become more active in your rp’s.

There's a 10% albino chance, so we'll roll 1-100. 90-100 gets an albino. Likewise there's a 10% chance your lera will be pure black. In the 1-100 roll, if we roll a 1-10 your lera will be black.

+ Any inbreeding will run the risk of the offspring having a defect. There'll be a 50/50 chance. This means we'll roll between 1-100. If it's 50 and below, you'll have a defect. We may roll for it between the offspring beind deaf, a mutation, mute, blind, etc.
