Egg
This is the first stage of growth. Eggs don't do much except sit and look pretty. Near to hatching you may hear noises from inside the egg, and it may jiggle around a little bit. This is normal, so don't worry.
Infant
After hatching your Mischief will be a tiny little creature that will demand almost constant attention. It's a good idea at this stage to carry your new friend around with you in a pocket or perhaps a small bag. Mischiefs instinctively know what is bad for them to eat, so you can immediately start to feed your baby and find out what they like!
Child
After at least a few weeks and sometimes longer, your baby will grow into a cute child. Mischief children are endlessly inquisitive and are keen to learn all they can. If you have developed a good bond with your diminutive companion, they will begin to communicate with you in their own time. You will also begin to get a good feel for your Mischiefs particular brand of naughtiness... so try your best to keep him or her out of trouble!
Adult
Eventually your child will grow into an adult. In Mischief society there is no distinction between adolescents and adults - as soon as a Mischief is mature enough to breed they are considered to have reached adulthood. Your Mischief may now safely spend time away from you and may choose to breed! (forever unless elder status gained)
Elder
Not much is known about this stage in a Mischief's life. It is possible that after a long time spent in adulthood, learning and being especially naughty, a Mischief may grow into an Elder, a small being of great power. I have never actually encountered a wild Elder as they tend to be rare and wary of humans. I am only going off what Astrid has told me, in between spiking my tea and teasing the cockroaches... Q: I see no silhouettes... what do Mischiefs look like?
A: Different! Every single Mischief stage has unique lineart. Go to the Guardians section to see some Mischiefs.
Q: Do Mischiefs require RP?
A: No, regular Mischiefs are not RP required. They will grow to adulthood without, although I do encourage guardians to RP whenever they feel like! For your Mischief to attain Elder status you will need to develop a strong relationship with your companion.
Q: How/where should I RP?
A: RP here in the thread - unless you want to create a journal page in the Breedables RP Forum for your Mischief. If you do so, let me know so I can link to it from here.
Q: How long do they take to grow?
A: It varies. Generally, a very long time. We're talking at least months to go to adult. Most guardians have waited over a year before their Mischief has hit adulthood. Infants will not grow to child form until they have been named.
Q: Can they breed? How many babies?
A: Yes, they can breed when they reach the adult stage. See breeding section below.
Q: Will same-sex pairings produce children?
A: Yep! Mischiefs are magical beings, not worried by gender.
Q: They're naked!! :O
A: Yes, some of them are. Mischiefs are humanoid in form but have no genitals as such, so don't mind running around in the nude. In fact, most of them like it. Maybe too much. smile If you don't so much like the idea of a nude Mischief, let me know and I might be able to accomodate that. Fashion sense is another thing entirely! XD
Q: How many types of Mischief are there?
A: An infinite amount, I guess! Some types of Mischief are spirits of general mayhem, whilst others are very specialised and tend to dabble in only a specific mayhem field.
Q: How many can I have at once?
A: You can have as many as you think you can handle.
Q: Do you do customs?
A: Yes, in the form of an Uber-Rare Mischief. These can still be bred. Each Uber-Rare produced will be the only one of its kind.

8. I don't keep a blacklist as I don't believe in humiliating people. Piss me off enough, break enough rules, ignore my warnings and you'll simply be banned from the thread and lose your Mischief.
9. Please advertise in your sig ONLY. Posting "Look at my sig and visit the shop!" or similar is advertising. Advertising posts in other peoples' threads are very rude and will make me very cranky. Making your Mischief cert a link to the shop is a good way to advertise in your sig.

Once a Mischief reaches adulthood, it is fully capable of procreating. They do not have to mate for life but can if they so desire. Each Mischief can breed a total of 3 times. Any generation can breed with any other, and the offsprings generation will be the highest parent's generation +1.
If two Mischiefs want to breed, and you are happy to let them do so, you can let them spend time together in my seemingly magical garden. Whilst spending time in the garden Mischiefs need complete privacy.
Initiating breeding is totally free.
Once the Mischiefs arrive back with their guardians, it may take me some time to find the egg. Gender is random.
After breeding, the Mischief parents will not be able to breed for some time, and will be listed on the Recovery list.

Shenanigans are part familiar, part stand-alone pet. All Shenanigans will come certed individually. They are all limited edition in the first generation. Ownership is open to everyone, and you can have up to three of any one kind. They are all one-stage and breedable.
If you are a Mischief owner and would like your Shenanigan to appear on your Mischief's cert, just ask! Please be aware that this will involve a process known in the science world as 'smallification'.

Snails are hermaphroditic, so there are no males or females. (You can still call it 'him' or 'her' if you like.) All snails are therefore breedable with all other snails. They will appear bigger on the certs.

When you buy a glow worm, you can choose it's 'glow' colour. The glow effect appears on the butt. Males' antennae point down, whereas females' antennae point up. They are breedable male-female only.

Dragonflies are the rarest of the Shenanigans found so far. They are breedable male-female only. They will appear a lot bigger on the certs, and have fine, unique texture detail on their wings.

Golden String:
Once your Mischief has collected 8 leaves, golden string may be borrowed from the Garden Shop. Your adult Mischief may then use the leaves to fashion a leaf garland for themselves. Only one Mischief may borrow the string at a time. The 'putting on' of the garland must be roleplayed, and there must be at least two witnesses besides yourself, but you may make the event as solemn or silly as you wish.
After some time wearing the garland, your Mischief will become an Elder.

She has been on Gaia and the Breedables forum in 2003-2004 and in 2006 rejoined under a new name.In her time away from drawing and Gaia, Mitsi enjoys playing computer games (Fallout 3 atm), breeding guppies, drinking coffee, and partying with friends.
She lives with her boyfriend, three female rats (Pirate, Whiskey and Tango), one crazy Oscar fish (Dalziel), and likes her eggs Benedict.
