When something living becomes non-living it doesn't leave the earth as quickly as you might think. Here, the dead linger. Not their flesh, but their souls. All the dead's aspirations, obsessions, and emotions cling to world of the living and try their hardest not to let go. It might sound a little depressing at first, but in the world where the small shop called 'the Soul Emporium' exists, death is studied, celebrated, admired, and even taken advantage of. Because souls stay on the earth for long periods of time reaching into centuries, many are collected and stored. Historians still cannot quite understand how the practice of using lanturns to hold souls began, but the staff of Soul Emporium continues the ancient and respected, if not a little feared, tradition of storing and distributing souls.



Base Lanturn- This is the lantern that defines the characteristics of the soul within it. It's very simple and determines the personality and the manifestation of the soul. These souls can vary from saturated to diluted. Diluted souls are weak in nature, their manifestations are vague, and their personalities are unclear. Saturated souls, however, are the products of strong spirits and their manifestations are detailed and distinct. Their personalities are much more developed.
*Base lanterns cannot be replaced, rather, a stronger lanturn will absorb them.
Of course a soul can possess a number of other dormant souls to make themselves stronger and even more defined as a being. It is every souls wish to become more like the living they used to be. Be cautious, once a soul is born from a lantern, it will not return quietly. Sure you still want one?

Active Lanturns - These are lanturns whose souls are whole and can form a base for more souls to be added. It has the ability to absorb other dormant and active lanturns to make itself stronger.

Dormant Lanturns- These are the "material" remains of a spirit who has moved on from this plain of existence. A dormant soul cannot overpower a base lanturn. Instead, the manifested soul can absorb these characteristics into themselves, making them a more saturated soul.

Spirit Carriers- These living individuals have the ability to absorb Lanturns. They can possess up to two dormant souls, or one base soul. These can be used by your spirit to carry Lanturns that are currently not in use.

Role playing will be optional for this shop, but to gain higher level dormant and active Lanturns, you must rp. Rolplay will be rewarded with the shop currency known as Geisen. A post can earn from 1 to 3 geisen in a normal RP and journal entries can be worth up to 7 geisen. Once geisen are used, they are gone for good and more must be earned before you can purchase another lanturn.

-All rp's MUST be entered into journals. Not that you can't rp here in the main shop, hakari would actually like this to continue. She would simply appreciate it if everyone could put their rp up in their journals as well, which will make it about 50x easier to count up geisen, meaning that she'll be able to do it more often! Every time she counts your geisen, she will make a post in your journal saying so. This is so she can keep track of which posts she has already counted, and which ones she has not.
Just a reminder that posting your rp in your journal is now MANDATORY if you want your geisen updated!

Lanturn- Yes, this is the appropriate way to spell this word. A Lanturn is a lantern with a soul inside it, whether dormant or active.
Dormant (Lanturn)- A Lanturn whose soul is only a fragment of what it once was. The rest of it has moved on to the great beyond. However, it was kind enough to leave behind a few trinkets of it's past life, attributes of who it used to be.
Active (Lanturn)- A Lanturn whose soul is whole. It has the ability to absorb other dormant Lanturns to make itself stronger.
Diluted Soul- A weak Soul that has just manifested. It has not absorbed any other lanturns at this point.
Saturated Soul- Lanturn souls of varying strength that have absorbed other lanturns.
Geisen (Geis)- The Soul Emporium's currency. It can be obtained only through rp.
D.o.M.- stands for Date of Manisfestation

The Soul Emporium makes all levels of active and dormant lanturns except for level four lanturns which we sometimes aquire through buying and trading.
We also provide information and maps to the locations of many specific level four lanturns.

Ordering Rules

PM Hakari-chan or Potato Lord (depending on who your artist is) with the following info:

1. Spirit Name

2. Desired Lanturn Type: dormant/active and level number

3. Item Category: If you're buying an active lanturn there is only one category so don't even bother with this.

4. Item Request/Personality: These are customizable on your part, but we will decide if your requested item fits into it's catagory.
Just write a brief description of what you would like and we will pm you back with the price for your item. If you are requesting a active lanturn, please include a one word personality for your spirit.
Please be specific. We don't want to have to interpret your order.

Ordering Sets

Sets apply to jewelry and animal features. For example, with jewelery you can either buy earrings, or a set of jewelry with a common theme, for example, a gypsy jewelry set.
For an animal instead of just cat ears, you would just request 'cat', and that would include the ears, tail, and the like.

If you are ordering a set, please try to be specific!
