♔ The Edo period of Japan where the Emperor and the Shoguns ruled the lands and the Gods held a place in the hearts of many, the trade was prosperous, people were happy and everything felt right in the world.

♔ The Emperor and Shoguns believed they had the ultimate ruling power of the people and circumstances, but the true power lay amongst the Gods. In charge of ensuring the world remains in a balance, their duty is never over. But, that does not mean the Gods could not have fun in doing their jobs. Some meddle within the everyday lives of the mortals in various ways to see how they react. It’s a fun game many of them play, but a few of them get a little too overzealous with their meddling.

♔ The Moon Goddess, Patron Mother of the Night and Thieves had opened her arms to the outcasts of the world and shielded them with her light. Those that worshipped her gave power to the Goddess who then began to hand-pick Champions to represent her. With the Goddess’ blessing, a few Champions moved on to become nobles or fierce warriors. But most of her Champions fell back onto the Thieving life they once knew and began to organize a crime Syndicate that terrorized many innocents.

♔ The Storm God, Patron of the Storms and Good Harvest began to slip further and further into an incurable madness. When the Storm seasons came to pass, they were large, ruthless and devastated the lands. Workers of the Land could not till or farm under these circumstances, and whenever they prayed to their Storm God for nice weather for a bountiful harvest, but they only served to feed him more power. More power, meant more destruction.

♔ Then there was the Music Goddess, Patron Mother of Music and Entertainers. Her own sounds were said to drive the mortals to a frenzy of dancing and jovial celebrations. As she played her music, the humans were forced to dance and party until they completely neglected their work. With no crops or meat from the farmers or butchers, there was no food to be sold and with no iron for the forges, there was no weapons for defenses.

♔ The Humans fell to famine, corruption, and these Gods seemed to neglect their rightful duties to the Mortals they swore to protect. In a rage of the audacity of Her creations, the Goddess Amaterasu gathered up these three negligent Gods and laid down an ultimatum.

♔ Due to their neglect, they were forced to either wither away as their popularity among the Mortals waned, or they were to wed a Caretaker of another’s Shrine. To wed a human would prove to Amaterasu that the Gods still possess an ability to care for Mortals in some way and the willingness to ensure the balance. Once the Caretakers were chosen, the Gods would be able to bring along One Youkai of their choosing for protection.

♔ They would be sent to the plane known as Yuutai, an ethereal plane that Amaterasu created for such an occasion. In Yuutai, the Gods would not be at their full magical potential. Though, they are still stronger than their Youkai the reduction of their power was to ensure their cooperation.

♔ With the option laid out before them, the Deities were able to select one Caretaker from their Shrine and a trusted Youkai before moving to Yuutai.

♔ɢᴏᴅs

one Gods are immortal beings who reign over a specific element.
two Reside within a spiritual plane that is out of reach to mortals, unless summoned.
three Must balance their ruling plane within the mortal realm. Too much or too little can cause imbalance and suffering, thus decreasing the faith of their followers.
four The stronger the faith of their followers, the stronger the god becomes. In contrast, little faith will leave the god fragile, and to lose all faith, the god would perish.
five Some gods use good will to inspire faith while others pander fear to increase faith.

♔ᴍᴏʀᴛᴀʟs

one Mortals are from one of three villages, each following the faith of one God.
two In the Northern mountains lives the Aomori clan, who worships the God of Storms.
three To the West lies the valleys in which the Ayane clan lives, under the watch of the Goddess of Music.
four The Eastern shores are home to the Ceresch clan, governed by the Goddess of the Moon.
five Humans are mortal until they are bound by marriage to an immortal.

♔ʏᴏᴋᴀɪ

one Yokai are creatures born with abilities based upon their species.
two Can become a God's familiar and attendant through a contract.
three Should a contract be established, Yokai are granted powers similar in nature to those of their God.
four Are immortal as long as they are bound to a God by contract.
five Once bound in a contract and blessed with a God's favor, a Yokai's powers may begin to grow until eventually reaching the status of God themselves.

"Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts." Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast of the Semantics, a large language ocean. A small river named Duden flows by their place and supplies it with the necessary regelialia. It is a paradisematic country, in which roasted parts of sentences fly into your mouth.

Even the all-powerful Pointing has no control about the blind texts it is an almost unorthographic life. 'One day however a small line of blind text by the name of Lorem Ipsum decided to leave for the far World of Grammar.' The Big Oxmox advised her not to do so, because there were thousands of bad Commas, wild Question Marks and devious Semikoli, but the Little Blind Text didn’t listen. She packed her seven versalia, put her initial into the belt and made herself on the way.

When she reached the first hills of the Italic Mountains, she had a last view back on the skyline of her hometown Bookmarksgrove, the headline of Alphabet Village and the subline of her own road, the Line Lane. Pityful a rethoric question ran over her cheek, then she continued her way. On her way she met a copy.

The copy warned the Little Blind Text, "that where it came from it would have been rewritten a thousand times and everything that was left from its origin would be the word "and" and the Little Blind Text should turn around and return to its own, safe country." But nothing the copy said could convince her and so it didn’t take long until a few insidious Copy Writers ambushed her, made her drunk with Longe and Parole and dragged her into their agency, where they abused her for their projects again and again. And if she hasn’t been rewritten, then they are still using her.
