Basic Info - - -

Age: 28.

Sex: Male.

Race: Merfolk.

Powers: Healing magic based on his innate Merfolk talents. Able to bend water for limited amounts of time and not at full force, though he can be creative with how he uses it.
His voice might have a slightly persuasive charm to it when addressing female humans, but nothing more.

Skills: Jayin focuses on a defensive fighting style, taking or making cover with what's available. He is infinitely more dangerous in and around water than not, but he prefers to keep a fluid stance in combat and not stand in one place for long. He's very practiced with tying and unwinding knots of rope or cloth, and is fairly experienced with traditional first aid.

Orientation: Lady fins or GTFO.

Height: Human(head-to-feet); 6'0". Merfolk(head-to-tail); 8'2".

Weight: Human: 182 lbs. Merfolk: 214 lbs(tails be heavy, son).

Physical features: Mild scarring that runs from right shoulder-blade down to his ribs along his back, apparently caused by something particularly sharp.

Other forms: [ Aquatic Form ]

I stand in the middle between darkness and light. I am neutral.

But it does not matter...We must all work together to protect existence from the void.

- - - Personal Information

Personality:
While not an outspoken individual, he is a merman of conviction and fiercely loyal to his family as well. There's a certain air of determination to his actions, working hard to help those in need. To those who show him kindness, he will reflect that good nature in his own actions. Jayin values those who are respectful toward him, doing what he can to help them in return. Although he can be distrusting of land-dwelling species or especially greedy individuals, he does what he can to get along with his comrades for the sake of making sure there's a place to rest at the end of the day.

Bio: Jayin was fortunate to be born after the worst of the flesh-hunts for Merfolk, though his parents certainly suffered through its entirety. They struggled through years of avoiding raiding parties and exchanging attacks with hunters before the protection laws became more avidly enforced. While they didn't trust the protection to last forever, it seemed as good a time as any to raise a proper family before they met an untimely demise. They settled down briefly among a small colony of other Merfolk and had three children: the eldest son, Jayin, and their twin daughters several years later.

During the summer of his fourteenth birthday, the reclusive colony was attacked and suffered extensive damage. His mother was among one of the many wounded, leaving her left arm so badly mangled it had to be amputated at the shoulder. That was the year he began focusing on learning healing skills and training to bend water more efficiently. Even his sisters intently practiced their magic, though they focused on a much more offensive and violent fighting style. Although there were rumours of various safe havens for Merfolk to thrive in, Jayin's family adopted a more nomadic approach and kept on the move for years. They traveled along rocky reefs with violent currents for the most part to lessen the odds of ships daring to get close. Jayin practiced on-land combat and climbing on the sheer rock cliffs with the twins; with the rough waters they became adept and powerful swimmers over time.

In the winter of his twentieth year, Jayin encountered a fascinating group of Merfolk who sailed on a stolen marauder ship. Jayin's sisters nearly attacked them before they realized that the Merfolk on board were disguised as hunters, who would then sink actual raiding ships they encountered. They extended the invitation for the family to join them, which the children jumped at eagerly. With some persuasion, their parents agreed to join them and go on the offensive. The twins were beyond ecstatic at this chance to wreak havoc on those who'd tormented them, while Jayin was thrilled to put his mending skills to use. Together they sailed between various Merfolk settlements: Jayin healing the wounded while his sisters were enthusiastically pulling raiding ships beneath the waves with their new comrades. He was able to gain plenty of experience on the open sea in both combat and healing.

When the void menace presented itself years later, many of the Mers seemed reluctant to join the war against them. They argued that it was a matter overblown by the land-dwellers and it didn't concern those of the marine community. The reports from inland only became more and more grave about the nightmarish void advances, and of the organization created to fight them. Within the reports, Jayin recognized an opportunity to better utilize his skills. Although his parents expressed displeasure at his wishes to join the Void Hunter Alliance, they could do little to stop him. The twins encouraged him to pursue his interests with the promise that they would continue to keep their territory safe in his absence. With that, he journeyed to the outskirts of Sunrest to enlist.

Don't disappear...
I still have more to say.
Please do not forget.

Other Info: Jayin keeps several bottles of unsalted water in his backpack at all times, as well as extra pairs of loose capri-pants in case of accidental transformations. Those with keen senses could probably tell that he smells a bit like the ocean, though not in a rank or overpowering way. His voice might sound a bit dry or rasping at times since he's used to breathing water so often, but it's clear enough to be understood.
