BOWBS Band Art Submissions

  For this art contest I'd like for people to turn our cute little art shop members into a fully fledged band! It doesn't have to be a rock band, you can choose a pop group, a metal group, a choir... it really doesn't matter as long they are making music together. Choose any style of music and form it with any amount of characters greater then 2. For example, if you choose to make a boy band, you may only choose to feature Josh,JB & Alba. As long as they are a music group, I will not mind the number of people as long as it's more then a duet.
  
  Note: I do have certain instrument preferences. You can chose to ignore these for your image though. (The first option is the one I see the most)
  Bella: Piano/synthesizer/singer
  JB: Bass/Drums/Guitar
  Bubbleh: Drums/Bass/Tambourine! XD
  Alba: Guitar/Singer/Drums
  Josh: Singer/Guitar/Secondary Singer
  
  
  
• Image Properties:
  
  Size: Minimum: 400x400 Pixels, Any pictures above 800 should be placed in links.
  I will not accept: Sketches, Lined Paper, Dolls/avatars outside of Gaia, Pictures with smudges/dirty looking image
  I will accept: Incredibly well made Avatar edits with backgrounds that do not look out of place, Colored Pencil, CG, Realistic renderings, photography/photo manipulation, Collage
  
  
• Submitting image:
  
  
  All submissions should be placed on this thread with the name of the artist AS THE TITLE OF THE IMAGE. For example if your name is: I_Luv_BOWBS, then, when I save the image to my photobucket account I want the image to read: I_Luv_BOWBS as the name. This doesn't disqualify you or your image but it would speed things along for me so I can save it quickly.
  
  
• Multiple Submissions:
  
  
  In this contest I am allowing for the same artist to submit up to 2 images for the Main Band contest and 1 for each character of the Bonus Art contest (see next post) & 1 for each category of the writing contest. This means in total an artist/writer can submit up to 9 entries at a time for this contest.
  
  Note that: If you win one of the places of the Main Band contest you will be disqualified from winning in the Bonus contest. Since the prizes of the Main Band contest are much larger, I am doing this to give an opportunity to those who had not won. You can however, win a place in the writing contest.

Writing Submissions



• Writing content:
  
  
  In the writing contest there are 2 different categories to choose from. Please read the rules of each carefully and please abide by the rules of each. To see the prizes, please look in the 4th post.
  
  
• Song Writing Category:
  
  
  For this Category you are required to submit lyrics to a song about the comic. It has to be done to a melody and have rhyming lyrics.
  
  You can chose any existing song of your choice as a back-beat or make a melody yourself. If you wish to make a melody then please supply a way for me to hear it. Either upload yourself playing/singing the song or provide a link for me to hear the music. (This includes existing song. Youtube is the best option but make sure the that video/audio is one that can be heard outside the U.S (Since I'm Canadian after all) )
  
  All the songs submitted will be sung by me (Sweet Jesus...) in the next BOWBS commentaries and the WINNING song will get that + a video that I'll make with the vocals (still includes Letters Prizes) that will be featured in the commentary after the next one. smile
  
  
  
• Prose: BOWBS Concert Writing Category:
  
  
  In this category I want you to write about what it would be like to live a day in the life of the BOWBS Band. Concentrate on making it as story-like as possible with the experiences of the characters, their inter-action and their fame. You can set the scene to be as varied as possible : in a concert, on tour or in an interview in a show. These are only some examples but I want to be able to really see them as band at the top of their game.
  
  All the prose submitted will be read by me in the next BOWBS commentaries
  
  
  
• Lengths & Formats:
  
  Song Category:
  Content: Has to be about the comic and the characters (I do not want band scenarios)
  Length: Song length (with music) cannot be longer then 6 minutes.
  I do not want: Any cursing or derogatory content in the song.
  
  Prose Category:
  Content: Must contain all the cast.
  Length: 600 word minimum, 1200 word maximum
  I do not want: Any cursing or derogatory content in the song.
  Format: I want the visual look of the text to be easy to read. My eyes tire easily so please make it clean and organized. (PLEASE MAKE PARAGRAPHS. I don't like reading an entire text in one paragraph.)

Now that the main contest theme has been explained, relax and check out our BOWBS bonus contest! All your favorite characters have chosen a song to put on the BOWBS play list. Draw an image for any BOWBS character embodying the song and win even more prizes!

Bonus Contest rules:


• The image can be anything from a head shot to a full body.
  
• There is only one winner per song. No second or third places. I will choose the one the can both capture the BOWBS character's personality AND the theme of the song.
  
• Must have the title or lyric of the song in the image.
  
• You can include any other BOWBS character in the image but it MUST feature the one who suggested it as the main focus.
  
• Execution & creativity is important for this mini contest. The more thought and work you put into it, the bigger chance you have of winning but remember, style will also come into play when I choose.
